Underwaterbob, to softwaregore in Google is so bad these days, nothing but shitty SEO results

I was searching how to cast the screen on an Android phone through USB yesterday, and I had to go through pages of “free” Play Store apps and their shitty tutorials, some of which I downloaded, (one had 50 million downloads) two of which were identical skins of each other that wanted payment information and charged $20 a month after a week long trial, to eventually find out it’s a default included option on any Samsung phone and can be found in some settings. Google search has completely gone to shit.

AnExerciseInFalling,

If you’re still looking for a solution, I highly recommend “scrcpy” github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy

That’s fixed capital for you.

pl_woah,

I don’t get it

It would be fixed capital regardless of the interior design and chairs?

Phoenix3875,

The difference is that fixed capital matters little to the rate of profit, so they can spend a lot of money and it still evens out over the period of operation. The food and wage, on the other hand, affects the rate of profit a lot. So we can usually see restaurants with “fancy” decors, but with shitty food and low wages.

did you know 1209 is a prime number? or maybe not, I’m just a cat :3

prime_number_314159,

1209 is 3 times 13 times 31, and cats are better at typing than they are at math.

In base 10, the sum of the digits of any number that is divisible by 3 is also divisible by 3, so 1+2+0+9=12, implies 1209 is divisible by 3.

Likewise, 1001 is divisible by 13, so if you split a number in base 10 every 3 digits, and subtract/add alternating sets of numbers, if the result is divisible by 13, the original number is, too. 209-1 is 208, which is obviously divisible by 13, so 1209 is, too.

Divisibility by 31 in base 10 is harder to check, but 999998 is divisible by 31, as is 999999999999999, so you can just split the number every 15 digits, and add those together, and if the sum is divisible by 31… I’m talking about math to a cat.

Rakonat,

TIL cats are really bad at math.

I had moved to DDG a few years ago and enjoyed it until around the middle of this year when I started getting less and less relevant results.

Started using (and yes, paying for) Kagi 3 or so months ago and it’s amazing going back to searches that actually work again. I don’t know how well I’d handle moving back to an ad supported search provider.

Trump cannot be on Colorado ballot, judged by Colorado Supreme Court.

TootSweet,

…unless SCOTUS overturns it.

BolexForSoup,
@BolexForSoup@kbin.social avatar

We are definitely in uncharted territory, but I feel like even they would have to pause before necessarily overturning this. Doesn’t mean they won’t, but I don’t think it’s an easy decision.

If the Supreme Court overturns this - because it is undoubtedly going to go to them - are blue states then going to try to weaponize federal courts to attack how republican held states are holding their elections? Or vice versa?

On the one hand, if the supreme court somehow rules in favor of Colorado, you can bet other states are going to immediately follow suit. And if they rule against them, that’s a serious potential shockwave over what states can and can’t do when overseeing elections. Especially at a time when the GOP is asserting a state’s right to oversee elections e.g. “election integrity.”

It’s certainly a situation lol

Osa-Eris-Xero512,

Wouldn't scotus ruling one way or the other, due to this being 14A, also automatically apply to the other states?

Zipitydew,

Not automatically. States have the authority to run their own elections. But this would set precedent for others to follow.

BolexForSoup,
@BolexForSoup@kbin.social avatar

What they said ^

andrewta,

Not sure why you got down voted.

Drusas,

How can SCOTUS even have jurisdiction when the Constitution specifically gives the power to oversee elections to the States? This seems more like it should require Congress to change the Constitution if the federal government wants the power to supersede the decision of the Supreme Court of Colorado.

tacosanonymous,

States are allowed to make their own rules but they aren’t allowed to contradict the US Constitution. Since the US Constitution is subject to the political leanings of the current court, who tf knows what’s ever going to happen.

Drusas,

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but they are following the Constitution in making this decision. The Constitution does not require a conviction.

Anticorp,

Good! That criminal shouldn’t be in charge of a Popsicle stand, let alone the most powerful country on earth.

Question for the audience: what city do you most associate this style with? For me it’s Seattle, because that’s where I live, and ugh, it’s everywhere.

Buffaloaf,

Boulder, CO comes to mind for me. Although, there’s one in my small town that’s almost exactly like this so I suppose these are just everywhere.

Confession: I actually kinda like this decor. Not the overpriced food and drinks though.

lolcatnip,

Yeah, I doubt many people mind the decor, just the prices that seem to always come with it.

fhek,

Every major city.

pl_woah,

I grew up in a small town in the rockies and one of the developer outfits had a fancy office with this decor

fhek,

Oh probably. It’s quite a popular design choice.

Modern Rustic / Industrial Rustic does look really cool to me, so I can see the reason why it’s so popular.

NOPper,

It IS cool, and I will die on this hill before I let these places tarnish the style!

DrZoidbergYes,

I’m in Dublin (Ireland) and it’s exactly the same here

theedqueen,

In my head I’m picturing Portland, OR

LoamImprovement,

Yeah, I don’t think there’s a restaurant on Alberta that doesn’t have at least a little of this aesthetic.

That said, Pine State is worth the asking price and I’ll kill on that hill.

ArmoredThirteen,

Came here to call out Seattle too. Those chairs especially show up in any style of restaurant it is wild. I see this some in Spokane (or I did when I was there last don’t know if there are more or fewer of them in the last few years).

HiddenLayer5, (edited )
@HiddenLayer5@lemmy.ml avatar

I don’t associate this with any particular city, but with the rich neighbourhoods in every city, particularly the recently rich neighbourhoods built from gentrification and forcing the existing poor residents out. An upscale “urban eatery” is a sure sign that the neighbourhood is destroyed.

OneWomanCreamTeam,

I’ve seen dumb places like this in every city I’ve lived in.

Beelzebob,

Winston-Salem, NC. This looks like 3/4 of our downtown hipster spots. Except everything here is also a microbrewery. Soooo many different IPAs. I didn’t realize that there were so many ways to make beer that tastes like shit.

lolcatnip,

Oh God, I thought that was just a PNW thing because it’s a hop growing region.

captain_aggravated,
@captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works avatar

Are IPAs somehow cheaper to make or something? Like the whole microbrewery scene has devolved into “We make nine IPAs, whatever the fuck a cucumber lager is, and a stout.”

wellee,

Really? I see most US places come with sides at least. I have to go with Queenstown, NZ.

captain_aggravated,
@captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works avatar

I think the answer is “The city you’ve been to.” Greensboro is full of crap like this.

JDubbleu,

I was gonna say SF, but now that I think about it the burger places there tend to be a bit more quaint and definitely don’t have the live laugh love shit everywhere. At least I’ve never seen one, but it’s a big fucking city so there’s almost definitely at least one.

They were everywhere in Denver.
