We are definitely in uncharted territory, but I feel like even they would have to pause before necessarily overturning this. Doesn’t mean they won’t, but I don’t think it’s an easy decision.
If the Supreme Court overturns this - because it is undoubtedly going to go to them - are blue states then going to try to weaponize federal courts to attack how republican held states are holding their elections? Or vice versa?
On the one hand, if the supreme court somehow rules in favor of Colorado, you can bet other states are going to immediately follow suit. And if they rule against them, that’s a serious potential shockwave over what states can and can’t do when overseeing elections. Especially at a time when the GOP is asserting a state’s right to oversee elections e.g. “election integrity.”
It’s baffling to me that the UK was able to keep their currency and all kinds of other benefits that virtually no other member states had yet they still threw a tantrum and left. Imagine being able to partially dictate your city’s tax codes/laws without having to pay into the pot as much as anyone else while also able to ignore many rules you don’t like. One could almost describe their relationship with the EU as borderline extractory, yet they still weren’t satisfied. Now if they rejoin, they probably won’t get half of the benefits they had previously.
There’s no need to be a jerk. For some of us it is just unexpected to hear that folks have phones where they download their primary messaging app. It would be like downloading an app to make calls - it’s just such a fundamental, core feature, that I wouldn’t really think to go third-party for my daily usage. It’s not that it makes no sense, but I hope you can understand why that is a little surprising to some people.
I know that in the 20 years or so since I first got a cellphone I have just used whatever is on the phone natively. Nothing wrong with using WhatsApp, you do you. But that was how it used to be, and WhatsApp did not become so dominant until recently.
Dude. Thank you. I have been using my steam deck as my first step into going all in on Linux/FOSS. This is such a great list of things to test out. Really want to make it my daily driver.
Yeah I know steam OS isn’t FOSS but I want to play my games and I also want to be outside of MacOS/Windows so it’s a great fit at present!
I want to get a little more used to running all these alternate applications before I enter an even more troubleshooting-oriented world but thanks for the reccs! What do you like about each of those?
Everyone wants FOSS but so few want to donate a little to keep the whole enterprise afloat. It’s a bummer. I can’t blame the dude for selling it unfortunately.
Yeah, I don’t mean to blame you or anyone in particular. I’m more just expressing sympathy because, as you said, people have to eat ultimately. And if they are putting time into a FLOSS project they’re generally not getting paid.
I’m also just a little salty because I saw yet another thread the other day where people said that Reaper, a fantastic DAW, is free (it isn’t). When I explained to them that they just don’t have any sort of security or licensing requirements and instead use an honor system where you can try the program fully fledged and then pay the $40 when you decide you want to keep it, they started argue with me about how it’s still free and they don’t have to pay anything if they don’t want to and all companies are evil blah blah.
Those are the kind of people I just don’t understand and it makes me really bitter because a team is truly trying to make a professional grade tool available to everyone and these people are actively sabotaging that effort, whether they know it or not.
My guess would be that if you’re having trouble with Chiaki, you will probably have trouble PS portal as well, as usually those issues are at the modem level and have to do with your settings.
Trump is like 40 to 60 points ahead in every national poll for the primaries right now. Barring some major conviction, and even then it’s still not a guarantee, he has basically got the primary already locked up. DeSantis and Haley are fighting for a very distant second place.
Please do not lecture me on public vs private companies lmfao. That was the most condescending comment I’ve seen in a while. This is a joke post, and we were making little asides. You can allow a little loose interpretation in service of a joke.
Another player who was at the table during the incident sent me this meme after the problem player in question (they had a history) left the group chat....
I think it boils down to what table you’re at. If you want to have strictly defined rules, then you build out a table with players that has strictly defined rules that the world and players must adhere to. If you’re all kind of OK with “rule of cool” or hand waving away some things within reason (not so much that you’re just completely going Calvinball with the sessions though I’m sure some people like that as well!) that’s totally fine too.
Ultimately you are all just telling a story together. Anyone who is so angry about someone with a disability in their fantasy world that they are willing to leave the table - to the surprise of the DM and another player who clearly are not on that wavelength - is probably not somebody who is a good fit anyway.
The only critique I could possibly give the DM here is for them to reflect on whether or not they set proper expectations at the table. But frankly (barring critical info that has been left out) this is incredibly petty and a player with any emotional maturity should be able to talk through this and move forward with the group. What a strange hill to die on.
I like my deck a lot but I can’t imagine spending $600 all in on one. Probably because I actually don’t use it in handheld mode much anymore so the OLED is not a big deal to me, and swapping out the storage is trivial so you don’t really need to pay for the 512gb and pay that markup.
Ok…but I don’t and that’s a lot for me lol. I also spend thousands more a year on healthcare than the average person because freedomland. I’ll gladly swap cheaper steam decks for your healthcare!
Looking back, my comment was definitely a little sharper than I intended. Meant to be more playful but I imagine I let some snark slip in there. My apologies. Hope you had/have a good day!
Setting restrictions on what 2FA/authenticators we can use. I imagine it’s only a matter of time before Google functionally makes it so you can only use theirs when using their services.
Edit: I assumed it was some of the messages I’ve seen elsewhere, my mistake. I don’t need everybody repeating the same comment. Please read the responses before telling me the exact same thing over and over again guys lol
I shower regularly. I do not wear deodorant/anti-perspirant. I got tired of it ruining my clothes/just buying it, and as I’ve gotten older and further away from puberty I found that just regularly showering does most of the heavy lifting. I don’t need to smell like sunshine and rainbows all the time lol
That being said, I often keep a stick around for nicer events and such or maybe a really important meeting
Most studios do not have a dedicated PR team. That’s a larger developer/publisher luxury. Often they just hack away at it together as a group or maybe if they’re lucky have one dedicated “social media manager“ who functions for basically anything remotely related to PR and marketing.
About four years ago, I sat down and organized all of my cables, then tied all the matching cables together with bongo ties/Velcro straps. A lot of it of course has become scattered again, but I am still reaping the benefits from having them all generally grouped together. It is worth the hour or two folks!
I use terminal commands to access our S3 bucket at work and some of my colleagues look at me like I am hackerman. It’s hysterical tbh. They all know it’s not actually impressive but none of them do anything like that
I’m sorry that that is their goal, and I’m sorry you don’t have the tools you need. Regardless, I’m not sure how best to handle it at this point. It’s getting pretty irritating.
