Do you happen to have links to a tutorial or something similar for this setup? I know my Harmony isn’t long for this world.

Just what I needed right before bed.

I had moved to DDG a few years ago and enjoyed it until around the middle of this year when I started getting less and less relevant results.

Started using (and yes, paying for) Kagi 3 or so months ago and it’s amazing going back to searches that actually work again. I don’t know how well I’d handle moving back to an ad supported search provider.

Been using WuTangLan for quite awhile. When I started splitting 5ghz and 2.4, we added MyWiFiFu.

I know it’s not the most popular opinion but, I’ve really been enjoying the reboot from last year.

Despite a lot of the derision against it there really is a ton of saints row 2 at its core. I think it being wrapped in an updated world built around characters that are more representative of the time the game was made lead to a lot of people not understanding that at its core, it was still a pretty faithful reboot.

I’m not advocating that you jump out and purchase it right away. But, if you’re ever in the mood I highly recommend giving it a shot. I picked it up as soon as it landed on steam and found it pretty damn enjoyable.

I recently started carrying one of these in my travel kit. Absolutely recommended for just that reason.

Community Dedicated Servers are always the answer. Every game I enjoyed growing up had amazing servers that were ran by fans. I was a mod on some of my favorite TFC ones. It’s a great way to keep cheaters out and build a sense of comraderie amongst the regulars.

I miss the flash sales and daily deals. Buying at the right time was a game itself! Plus the 70-90% off sales were fire!

Not that I’ve seen for several years. Looking it up, they stopped in 2015…

It was waaaay longer ago than I remembered. Time sure does catch up.

I’m gonna bet it was from Kotick. Likely dude wanted one last huge launch to get paid off of before he took his parachute.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

I think Vampire Survivors should be considered a pack-in for the Steam Deck. Pre-install it on all of em. It’s the perfect game for the platform.

Maybe I’m just waxing nostalgic for the 90’s.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Is there a bot mode in recent modern warfares? That was one of my favorite things in the old Black Ops games.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Oh word. Those are both in my rotation as well. Was hoping I could add a more modern CoD.

Gettin real goddamn tired of dogs

I like dogs like I like toddlers. It’s fun to hang out with other people’s for a while, but ultimately they’re annoying, loud, and make a mess. I feel like in the past 10 years or so, dog owners have become increasingly convinced that everyone thinks their slobbering, untrained mutt is god’s gift to everyone, and expects...

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

I feel the exact same way with the exact same feedback to parents. I am tired of people’s shitty kids running around, crawling on floors, looking at me in public, screaming and crying for no discernible fucking reason… I think we need to look at building segregated places for parents and animal owners and those of us that are one or the other and not interested in interactions with the opposite side.

Because it’s the internet, I will clarify that this is partially a joke. It’s also partially not a joke. And I apologize as a owner of multiple dogs for the experiences that you were having. That doesn’t sound like something that’s going to make anybodys day any better.

Personally, I keep my dogs at home unless I’m doing something like going hiking or out to the lake or somewhere else that seems like a reasonable place to bring an animal. Certainly not somewhere that’s going to have their hair flying in the air and getting into people’s foods or drinks or anything like that.

Thinking about it, I treated my kid the same way when they were first born…

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

That is a pretty amazing launch lineup. For the 40 or 50 people that purchased and are still playing those games.

Kidding aside, I feel like all growth and movement in this segment is good. We can’t have Nvidia holding down their monopoly and keeping features exclusive to certain series of cards like they do now.

vulgarcynic,

I thought for a second this was a c/piracy article about the Netflix price hike.

I seem to have hit the sweet spot with The Outer Worlds after bouncing off it several times since launch. Started a playthrough as a character that accidentally looks like Paul Rudd. Time to roleplay this bad boy as a chat tree master that loves the long guns.

Spending the time to talk to more characters and see the expanded dialogue trees is really tickling that mid-00’s obsidian vibe and I am digging it.

Combat is still meh, but a little bit of cheat engine and infinite “time dilation” makes it interesting. The physics get really floaty when you start trying to 360 no scope dudes with a double barrel shotgun, plays like a less refined F.E.A.R.

Overall I’m glad I finally found the groove with this game. I have similar issues with Prey 2017 and keep going back every few moths hoping it will catch me. Dishonored saw a lot of my gaming time when it came out but that one just isn’t doing it yet. Maybe it’ll be next week’s game!

@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Not assured to help, but try Reach Down. I find that song to be a better starting point for the album. I’m not a huge Chris Cornell fan but Temple of the Dog is in my top albums of all time.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I’m a pretty througha md through goth kid and just can’t get in to their music. Really want to but it just falls flat every time I try.

@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

As a refugee from r/bloodborne I can’t be hurt again. I’ll install it day 1 if it releases but choose to be sad, salty and bathed in the old blood until that day.

The year that this album dropped, it was all that I heard at every single house party I went to. Probably one of the most iconic alternative releases of my high school years.

I don’t really listen to the album much anymore. Not sure if that’s due to change and taste some 25 years later or just burn out. But I still think it’s one of the most iconic alternative tracks ever.

Sublime - What I Got

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Naw, I grew up north of there though. Sublime definitely gets a lot of love throughout California still. It matches the vibe pretty well.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

That might be the highest quality of that I’ve ever seen.

Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - What I Am

I remember this being one of the first “alternative” type songs I heard as a kid. Grew up hanging out with the (slightly) older heshers in the neighborhood so it was usually Maiden or Metallica or the like being played.

This song opened me up to a whole new thing and I thoroughly dug it. A few Cure and Violent Femmes albums later and I was head first into 90’s suburban goth life.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

I figured if the song didn’t out me on age, that sure would.

@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Something I Can Never Have - Nine Inch Nails

From the first time I heard this song up until today it just hits my emotions completely. Now to go sad cry on Saturday!

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Supergrass is fire!

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

My first choice. Now I gotta come up with another.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Gonna dig a little deeper in to the Alternative Nation one hit wonder stack and throw Jimmie’s Chicken Shack - High out there!

Always have this on my 90’s alt playlists. Someday I might even revisit the whole album. Haven’t done that since snowboarding days in the mid-90’s.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

I may have done the same. I did.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Queens of the Stone Age - You Think I Ain’t Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire

Really the whole album is perfect for raod trips through the desert but this is my first pick!

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

This is probably their most successful album commercially, if you’re interested in them at all though, I recommend …Like Clockwork from a few years back (well 10 now, ouch).

It may be (IMO) the greatest rock album of the past 20 years. Tons of texture and nuance and some heartbreaking lyrics and vocal deliveries from Josh Homme who usually comes off as more of a party / tongue in cheek sort of fella.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

That’s a great correlation honestly!

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

The Refreshments - Nada

I met my ex-wife on “blind date” sophomore year of high school at a Refreshments show. When this song came on, she snuggled up real close to me and I could feel the connection between us for the first time. It was truly magic in that way only high school first love could be.

We’re still friends after 15 years together and almost as long divorced. But, this song takes me back to a different place and time like nothing else ever could.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Absolutely agree! Especially when our other senses are able to take over while our auditory ones are bathed in good music.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

This has to be a difficult decision but props to them for acknowledging the bug and taking the appropriate steps.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

DAMN. by Kendrick Lamar.

One of the best lyrical journeys put to wax. I still revisit ot pretty frequently and find new layers every time.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

I really enjoyed murder by numbers. It’s a visual novel which is normally not my thing but, the characters and story were fun.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Bought it on launch on Stadia (RIP) had 0 performance issues and loved every one of the 200+ hours I put in to it. I know that was a pretty unique experience compared to other folks issues at the time performance wise (0 crashes only some hilarious physics moments). But, it felt like the future streaming this beautiful, well crafted world on to my tv, laptop, phone or tablet. With Stadia shutting down it really was a moment of gaming that I’ll never get back. Honestly thought we were there for a minute.

Anyways, this was my pandemic game. Exploring Night City, there was some amazing views and I accumulated a few hundred screenshots. It was almost like digital tourism for me at a time when there was no travel happening anywhere. My only complaint after a few different playthroughs is, we deserved more Jackie dammit. That big bastard got the short end of the story stick.

Do you use the swipe to type feature on your phone? (kbin.social)

Is this how most people type on mobile these days, drawing lines all over a keyboard instead of tapping the individual keys? I've never had an iPhone so I don't even know if they can do this natively, but I know you can switch keyboards at least, so it should still be an option if not.

The inability to get duck to move up the list is insane. I’m blows my ducking mind everytime autocorrect rears it’s stupid ducking head like I’m a mother ducking child that can’t curse via text.

I’m a 40 year old man for ducks sake. Let me use a ducking word.

Swiped on my stupid ducking Gboard.

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

In an unsurprising twist, Gboard doesn’t allow you to dictionary remove duck.

Bunch of gits.

That launch day was amazing. We had a 2 day LAN party that weekend and played TF2 almost exclusively. This was with a group that had formed around TFC. Then about 6 years after launch I introduced my son to it and he became hooked and we played for years together. There’s a certain magic to all versions of TF that just doesn’t exist in other games.

(it’s probably the well balanced gameplay and dedicated servers)
