I think the key phrase there is with someone who knows what they’re doing, ie a therapist. A lot of things people are dealing with feel insurmountable without someone who understands mental health helping you to break it down and figure out what you can change (or not). That’s an oversimplification obviously, but if it was simple nobody would need therapy.
You have to get married to begin with to look divorced. He looks “tell her a fake name and leave the state when the pregnancy test comes back positive.”
Obviously that’s a much bigger problem and I don’t doubt it happened a ton. From the user standpoint of someone trying to just use the community, it’s incredibly disheartening (especially if you have no IRL community to reach out to) to post, have a post go to 0 or negatives within minutes, and then ignored. When I still used reddit I would frequently see posts from people asking why everything was downvoted so quickly, which probably just encouraged the people who were doing it.
I grew up in a very Southern Baptist town, and the shit people would believe was wild. I swear to god there were 15-17 year olds learning for the first time in high school anatomy class that men don’t have one less rib than women…
The number of retractions issued for research articles in 2023 has passed 10,000 — smashing annual records — as publishers struggle to clean up a slew of sham papers and peer-review fraud. You do not have the ability to determine whether or not the person getting their groceries shopped for by someone else is “lazy” or disabled. It makes you angry because you think you are accurately perceiving laziness, but you are just making a guy up to get angry at.

I am dealing with a combination of a shitstorm of overreaction and my own stupidity 🥲
I sent my niece and nephews a small gift from ebay. I usually message my sister to let her know to expect a package, but this time I just forgot to and got busy with other stuff. So yesterday comes around and I get a call from her saying that getting a hand addressed package to their kids from an address they didn’t recognize freaked them out so much that they called the cops, who called the seller to find out who sent it.
Obviously they calmed down once they realized it was me, and I felt really bad about it so I messaged the seller on ebay to apologize for the inconvenience… only somehow without knowing how the goddamn interface on ebay works I managed to flag the message as a CANCEL ORDER REQUEST. So then I had to immediately message him again and be like haha oops no sorry not a cancel request! I don’t know how to ebay!
Just kill me, I’m so embarrassed 😭
PS: if you are wondering if my sister and her husband are extremely sucked into the far right news sphere where everyone is trying to kidnap their kids with fentanyl… the answer is yes.
If your food is unevenly heated it’s probably because you need to adjust the cook time and power settings. Heating it longer at a lower power setting will let the heat spread more evenly.
Alternatively, check your microwave’s wattage. I always have to adjust microwave instructions to be about 10% longer because my apartment’s microwave is weaker than companies assume the standard microwave is.
Buy a $10 oven thermometer and check your oven rack positions, sounds like it’s running way hotter than intended. If you have a convection oven the cook time may need to be adjusted.
Also ruffs (a kind of shore bird). They form groups so males can fight for mating rights, and for a long time scientists thought the female-mimics looked like females so they can sneakily mate. But it turns out that all the other birds probably know they’re male because females are more likely to join a group that has a female-mimic!

Trans men aren’t more accepted or tolerated, a huge portion of the fear mongering about trans youth is about “cutting off healthy breasts” and “ruining their fertility.” Literally just look at the cover of Irreparable Damage.
I’m trying to not be a dick here but this is a fairly large point of trauma for me: what do you imagine happens when a trans man shows up in a doctor’s office, possibly without a legal name change, almost certainly marked as female in their system? Because I can assure you it’s not that you get totally respected and treated as a normal dude.
Trans men are threatening to patriarchy by virtue of being “women” who do not stay in their place.
I was taught to use milk rather than water, but that’s basically right. Butter doesn’t hurt either if you’re making it without cooking sausage first, but the sausage might have enough fat on its own.
Is there a stair version of a Norman door? I feel like I’ve seen a story about every president stumbling or falling on those steps. They must be particularly wily, for stairs.
Pact makes clothing from organic, fair trade cotton. The only thing I’ve bought from them is boxers, but they instantly became my favorite underwear I’ve ever had because it’s SO soft and comfortable.
Side note, I found this company because they had my white whale: a multi pack of jersey knit boxers that is actually 100% cotton instead of having half the pairs be polyester.
Having grown up in the rural deep south, this feels like more of a description of blue state Republicans than red state Republicans.
You can clearly see that plenty of states have Republicans that care about LGBT issues. In Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, and West Virginia, less than 1/3rd of Republicans think homosexuality should be accepted. And it’s not like all the other states are blowing them out of the water. A majority of Republicans/Republican leaners believe gay marriage being legal is somewhat or very bad for society. Less than half believe it is acceptable for gay people to raise children. And that’s not even touching trans issues.
I feel guilty even getting groceries the day before Thanksgiving because it’s already so busy! It’s so gross how many businesses make people work on holidays.
I grew up in the south, so I drank a LOT of sweet tea. Now I stick to hot herbal teas and spice teas in the fall and winter. I never could get used to cold teas that aren’t sweet!
‘Cockroach’ encompasses a wide range of species, the majority of which have no interest in living in a human’s home, and contribute to the work of decomposition on the forest floor. Many smaller predators also eat them.
ChatGPT is OK at summarizing popular, low specificity topics that tons of people have already written a ton about, but it’s terrible at anything else. When I tested its knowledge about the process of a niche interest of mine (fabric dyeing) it skipped completely over certain important pieces of information, and when I prompted it to include them it basically just mirrored my prompt back at me.
Which has pretty much summed up my ChatGPT experience: it just regurgitates stuff I can find myself, but removes the ability to determine if the source is reliable. And if it’s something I’m already having trouble finding detailed information about it usually doesn’t help.
If your ability to live a good life is affected by random internet comments about general world topics it is in all seriousness a good idea to speak with someone about that.
