I think the key phrase there is with someone who knows what they’re doing, ie a therapist. A lot of things people are dealing with feel insurmountable without someone who understands mental health helping you to break it down and figure out what you can change (or not). That’s an oversimplification obviously, but if it was simple nobody would need therapy.

Obviously that’s a much bigger problem and I don’t doubt it happened a ton. From the user standpoint of someone trying to just use the community, it’s incredibly disheartening (especially if you have no IRL community to reach out to) to post, have a post go to 0 or negatives within minutes, and then ignored. When I still used reddit I would frequently see posts from people asking why everything was downvoted so quickly, which probably just encouraged the people who were doing it.
I grew up in a very Southern Baptist town, and the shit people would believe was wild. I swear to god there were 15-17 year olds learning for the first time in high school anatomy class that men don’t have one less rib than women…
You do not have the ability to determine whether or not the person getting their groceries shopped for by someone else is “lazy” or disabled. It makes you angry because you think you are accurately perceiving laziness, but you are just making a guy up to get angry at.

I sent my niece and nephews a small gift from ebay. I usually message my sister to let her know to expect a package, but this time I just forgot to and got busy with other stuff. So yesterday comes around and I get a call from her saying that getting a hand addressed package to their kids from an address they didn’t recognize freaked them out so much that they called the cops, who called the seller to find out who sent it.
Obviously they calmed down once they realized it was me, and I felt really bad about it so I messaged the seller on ebay to apologize for the inconvenience… only somehow without knowing how the goddamn interface on ebay works I managed to flag the message as a CANCEL ORDER REQUEST. So then I had to immediately message him again and be like haha oops no sorry not a cancel request! I don’t know how to ebay!
Just kill me, I’m so embarrassed 😭
PS: if you are wondering if my sister and her husband are extremely sucked into the far right news sphere where everyone is trying to kidnap their kids with fentanyl… the answer is yes.
