I think the only people who can be defensible over American style tipping in this day and age are people with an uncommon degree of wealth and are patrons of specialty boutiques who likely never frequent places operated by your average wage earner.

And while they can be defensible over their tipping, it often is the case they themselves are not defensible in their economic participation.

That is part of the calculus people are making when they express the idea they won’t vote for candidate A for reasons X and candidate B for reasons Y.

It is how voters can express their political will during the primary and electoral process. If a candidate can modify their position on X or Y because of voter concerns, that would be a meaningful part of the democratic process influenced by the voters. They’re trying to forge that alternative.

The real unfeasible alternative is actually just doing nothing and letting the donors buy their selected policies and voting for the lesser evil between them. That is just supporting the status quo.

As I remember it the issue with CoH2 that BadComedian (and others who groaned at Relics attempts to make a campaign) had was more that the Soviet campaign focused a little too much on the Soviet Union being bad and not enough on the whole Nazi Germany invading.

Which was an awkward thing because the CoH series was pretty politically whitewashed as far as WW2 can go.

So when you have this sort of sanitized germany invading, and the campaign is all “grr atrocities under Stalin” it just felt off. Whatever merits the story might’ve had, it just didn’t work for a series that easily could’ve stamped a “patriotic defense of the nation from an invader” on the campaign and then put much needed time on fixing the design flaws with the commander system.

(Tl:dr the campaign was garbage anyway and the devs shouldve focused on multiplayer)

“Now” is the time? For fuck’s sake it has always been the time. Smaller artists have always lived and died by the donation.

If you’re approaching this from thinking AI is the problem: it has the potential to put the menial grunt labor of production art out of work. A lot of low level employees grinding backgrounds to earn resume points will have a hard time.

But moreso: it can put a wage earning artist in a position of art director for their own productions. Albeit currently said artist would need a specialized skillset of working with AI image generation. And not everyone wants to be a mini art editor or art director. It does have real threatening consequences for an industry.

Nonetheless the definition of what it means to be an artist is a fluid and dynamic concept. Maybe portfolios for art school won’t be a selection of painted works on canvas and instead an individually developed and trained checkpoint model for AI generation.

I am super sick right now and haven’t eaten much in a few days. It’s getting to the point where I am gonna need to force myself to eat something to keep my strength up but everything just sounds terrible to me right now. I have been subsisting mostly on small glasses of milk and the occasional packet of instant oatmeal....

Fresh fruit tend to be what I can consume without an appetite or even while nauseous. Melons and berries usually, but sparingly if I haven’t had much else of substance.

As far as I have been able to discern: a lot of reddit transplants got called nazis by established lemmy communities, so there’s kind of this whole weird internal Lemmy movement to try define ‘tankie’ as widely and negatively as ‘nazi’.

I mean, you’d think OP would know what instances they would want to block from, you know, using Lemmy. They seem to know what is ‘cringe’, but want or need that anti-leftist qualifier for good measure.

Based on 30 minutes of looking around the instance I didn’t see anything immediately indicative of CSAM. Just the standard anime trope of everyone either appearing childlike or having absurdly exaggerated sexual organs.

So I woyld think there is a very loose definition of CSAM being used.

Now, I did see a discussion thread for Samurai X, which, fine I guess, but if I saw a Lost Prophets appreciation thread in a music community it would raise an eyebrow.

Hopefully the situation can clear things up between the two instances.
