But Connery, playing an Egyptian pretending to be a Spaniard while also being the only one with a recognizeable Scottish accent amidst a an entire cast of non-Scottish people playing Scots? That was something special.
These types of laws tend to rely on someone close to the pregnant person calling the cops, usually family. These communities passing these laws are full of people who would eagerly jail their children for getting an abortion.
Remember, the social Democrats sided with the Nazis over the socialists. They’ve done it every time they’ve been given the opportunity, and will continue to do so as many times as people fall for their shtick....
The idea of the USSR being an objectively better entity than what came before and after itself is a hard pill for many to swallow. Even from a cold, pragmatic, and critical position it can be hard to reconcile, even decades after the Cold War proper.
Human history is not really a constant war, but that is how Americans have been taught history: as a sequence of wars.
What’s relatively new are the concept of mass conscription, economic warfare, and total war. The ability to enact war and destruction on a global and constant level is new. The brief cessations in conflict aren’t peace, you’re right, but it is also a newer concept that we are constantly in a forever war.
Sure. I get what you mean: greek antiquity has records on the decision to exterminate an entire island of people. The capacity is absolutely there.
But I think a better perspective here is human history is one full of technological and social advances that resolve and prevent conflict. Even, yes, that unbagged atomic cat. It can be power for civilian use or it can be a bomb to burn their shadows into the concrete. War is when the actual prize of humanity: civility, breaks down.
Chehalis-Blacklake is pretty dubious. It’s a long stretch of wetlands. There is a sign and everything and technically it counts but there’s development and roads going through it without bridges.
The most support for China is basic materialist analysis: they’ve heavily invested in housing, high speed rail, electric car infrastructure, and green energy. Coincidentally: all rather related.
But that is generally the support associated with China: a materialist analysis, usually, if not always, regarding infrastructure.
I see someone two years ago saying they can’t support the Taliban and what appear to be a couple facetious comments?
What about this interaction from two years ago is unironic support for the Taliban? Americans lost to the Taliban, and they don’t like that the Taliban won.
In this two year old snippet of conversation it looks like a sarcastic bit of commentary.
It seems like a really odd thing to compile and post given it really don’t seem like what you’re trying to describe it as. It is self aware comments that they don’t support the Taliban but do support America’s loss. You’d think that would be the focus.
So it is odd that this sentiment would be described here as “unironic support for the Taliban.” Both the plain reading and sarcastic interpretation don’t fall under unironic support fornthe Taliban.
From my mostly limited knowledge: yes on education, though it is segregated by gender. There aren’t specifically bans on women from working or participating in politics as far as I know, but there is that whole layer of repressive legal frameworks, like the hijab law.
Which, I would say thanks to the access to education, is subject to change even under a hyperconservative religious government. But I really am not that knowledgeable on Iranian politics or current events there. I know that the protests have been dragging on, but haven’t really resulted in any structural change as far as I know.
Point is, if comparing to Afghanistan, like the original context appears to have been: relatively well off.
Well if you’re saying I deny that they are sarcastic, then there is a level of reading comprehension that is completely lacking here. So I’m not sure I can even have a goal here anymore.
There are private schools. They range from religious to for-profit operations. There is a public school system that exists, though very… unevenly administrated.
This is like, one post responding to yours. What was your response to their claim and how did you refute what they said? Is that cut out of the screenshot or am I missing something?
Yeah you cut the part out where you’re saying fuck peace and unity with the North. That really undercuts the sentiment of “People are suffering” when you’re also indicating a support for war and division with those “communist pigs”.
A country having socialist policies would not be a primary reason. It would be whether this hypothetical country’s socialist policies translate to a better life for myself and my family.

I’m not from California, so I don’t know much about her; but this genuinely surprised me, especially how vicious and vitriolic the comments were. What’s going on there?
She essentially embodied the suppression of leftist and progressive movements in the Democratic Party. That is why a lot of leftist and progressive people may not be hurting over the news.
