ZombiFrancis,

Best mosh pit I was ever in, surprisingly enough. That song can hit a properly primed and amped up crowd nicely.

ZombiFrancis,

Housing is largely inadequate due to a reliance on the free market and voluntary philanthropy to supply it.

This wealthy individual used wealth derived from the free market for some voluntary philanthropy.

System working as intended: a problem reinforced through its own aenemic mitigation.

ZombiFrancis,

The greatest casting ever made can never be replicated.

ZombiFrancis,

Oh those are definitely worse.

But Connery, playing an Egyptian pretending to be a Spaniard while also being the only one with a recognizeable Scottish accent amidst a an entire cast of non-Scottish people playing Scots? That was something special.

ZombiFrancis,

Nope.

Then again there are a lot of reddit repost bots here so there’s that.

ZombiFrancis,

Seriously, the Christian Nationalism was a selling point for him and the party that elected him Speaker.

ZombiFrancis,

These types of laws tend to rely on someone close to the pregnant person calling the cops, usually family. These communities passing these laws are full of people who would eagerly jail their children for getting an abortion.

ZombiFrancis,

No True Scotsman: the thread.

ZombiFrancis,

The idea of the USSR being an objectively better entity than what came before and after itself is a hard pill for many to swallow. Even from a cold, pragmatic, and critical position it can be hard to reconcile, even decades after the Cold War proper.

ZombiFrancis,

Why? Because internet.

A lot of communities dedicated to politics arent dedicated to political discourse.

They mostly are enforced echo chambers. At best.

@gaming anybody know much about Dwarf Fortress? Having trouble with stairs and digging out areas.

ZombiFrancis,

The basics: Ensure you have a dwarf with a pickax with mining labor enabled, with access to area you designate for mining.

ZombiFrancis,

Honestly? The best eli5 for Dwarf Fortress is just pointing you to the wiki page to sort through: dwarffortresswiki.org

ZombiFrancis,

Scrap it all: invest everything in littoral combat ships.

ZombiFrancis,

I used to work at a port and would see those ships out at sea. They look like they are just offshore.

Then you see the fishing boats go out and all but disappear against the massive backdrop. You realize they’re many many miles out.

ZombiFrancis,

For a public statement by a U.S. Senator it is about as critical of Israel anyone could expect. I would wager far moreso in fact.

ZombiFrancis,

We can’t stop here, this is bap country.

ZombiFrancis,

“Developing settlements to maintain a front” is a pretty wild tactic, let alone a defensive one.

ZombiFrancis,

Well, uh, I guess the community name here applies rather aptly. Well done.

ZombiFrancis,

An apartheid state experienced an attack from a terrorist group. More violence ensues.

ZombiFrancis,

Human history is not really a constant war, but that is how Americans have been taught history: as a sequence of wars.

What’s relatively new are the concept of mass conscription, economic warfare, and total war. The ability to enact war and destruction on a global and constant level is new. The brief cessations in conflict aren’t peace, you’re right, but it is also a newer concept that we are constantly in a forever war.

ZombiFrancis,

Sure. I get what you mean: greek antiquity has records on the decision to exterminate an entire island of people. The capacity is absolutely there.

But I think a better perspective here is human history is one full of technological and social advances that resolve and prevent conflict. Even, yes, that unbagged atomic cat. It can be power for civilian use or it can be a bomb to burn their shadows into the concrete. War is when the actual prize of humanity: civility, breaks down.

ZombiFrancis,

ButtBidet: regional authority on cringe and white people dance parties. Noted, thank you for your service.

ZombiFrancis,

Let’s not forget the equally used praise for One Piece.

ZombiFrancis, (edited )

Chehalis-Blacklake is pretty dubious. It’s a long stretch of wetlands. There is a sign and everything and technically it counts but there’s development and roads going through it without bridges.

ZombiFrancis,

The most support for China is basic materialist analysis: they’ve heavily invested in housing, high speed rail, electric car infrastructure, and green energy. Coincidentally: all rather related.

But that is generally the support associated with China: a materialist analysis, usually, if not always, regarding infrastructure.

ZombiFrancis,

I see someone two years ago saying they can’t support the Taliban and what appear to be a couple facetious comments?

What about this interaction from two years ago is unironic support for the Taliban? Americans lost to the Taliban, and they don’t like that the Taliban won.

ZombiFrancis,

A lot of the context for comments by hexbear users are often references to the latest episode of Chapo Trap House.

ZombiFrancis,

I think you’re missing some pretty clear sarcasm there. But I get your angle that sarcasm leads to the dark side of the force and all.

ZombiFrancis,

Jesus invented sarcasm as well? Because that is the part I think you’re missing.

ZombiFrancis,

In this two year old snippet of conversation it looks like a sarcastic bit of commentary.

It seems like a really odd thing to compile and post given it really don’t seem like what you’re trying to describe it as. It is self aware comments that they don’t support the Taliban but do support America’s loss. You’d think that would be the focus.

So it is odd that this sentiment would be described here as “unironic support for the Taliban.” Both the plain reading and sarcastic interpretation don’t fall under unironic support fornthe Taliban.

ZombiFrancis,

Though since Iranian women have access to education, work, and politics, there’s been ongoing backlash stemming from that event.

ZombiFrancis,

From my mostly limited knowledge: yes on education, though it is segregated by gender. There aren’t specifically bans on women from working or participating in politics as far as I know, but there is that whole layer of repressive legal frameworks, like the hijab law.

Which, I would say thanks to the access to education, is subject to change even under a hyperconservative religious government. But I really am not that knowledgeable on Iranian politics or current events there. I know that the protests have been dragging on, but haven’t really resulted in any structural change as far as I know.

Point is, if comparing to Afghanistan, like the original context appears to have been: relatively well off.

ZombiFrancis,

Specifically, in the topic and here: relative to Afghanistan, if it wasn’t clear. As in: compared to Afghanistan, not elsewhere.

ZombiFrancis,

Well if you’re saying I deny that they are sarcastic, then there is a level of reading comprehension that is completely lacking here. So I’m not sure I can even have a goal here anymore.

ZombiFrancis,

I distinctly remember doing a double take at the intense graphics of the SNES demonstrating Super Mario World at a display in a grocery store.

It’s hard to imagine things like that not existing yet.

ZombiFrancis,

Raisins? Pff. Never heard of that. Frozen green peas though? That’s where it’s at for the boxed Mac and cheese.

ZombiFrancis,

There are private schools. They range from religious to for-profit operations. There is a public school system that exists, though very… unevenly administrated.

ZombiFrancis,

This is like, one post responding to yours. What was your response to their claim and how did you refute what they said? Is that cut out of the screenshot or am I missing something?

ZombiFrancis,

Yeah you cut the part out where you’re saying fuck peace and unity with the North. That really undercuts the sentiment of “People are suffering” when you’re also indicating a support for war and division with those “communist pigs”.

I mean come on.

ZombiFrancis,

A country having socialist policies would not be a primary reason. It would be whether this hypothetical country’s socialist policies translate to a better life for myself and my family.

ZombiFrancis,

Was about to post this myself.

ZombiFrancis,

I have had this precise meal many times in college. Luxurious, but not a succulent Chinese meal.

ZombiFrancis,

Cheaper than water in many places still.

ZombiFrancis,

Conscripts butchering conscripts. Some people want to cheer that on.

ZombiFrancis,

She essentially embodied the suppression of leftist and progressive movements in the Democratic Party. That is why a lot of leftist and progressive people may not be hurting over the news.

ZombiFrancis,

I remember thinking his drawings were really cool back in the 90s. Seems like a good move.
