When I first read the titile, I thought that the US is going to have to build A LOT to triple global production. Then it occured to me that the author means the US is pledging to make deals and agreements which enable other countries to build their own. Sometimes I think the US thinks too much of itself and that’s also very...
We could do the alternative and leave a dead planet to future generations.
Look, we all agree that renewables are the future but they are still the future. Build nuclear now and we can slowly wean off of that. Nuclear waste is a much more manageable problem than “crops no longer grow”.
I feel like this is a brainworm capitalist take. The capability was there, were their profits actually more important than locating a kidnapped child?
It’s not like this was going to drain a risk pool of equity and put other people’s coverage at risk; literally ping the fucking car and find out where it is. The capabilities are already there. Save the baby.
So originally I was sceptical about the TERF claims on rowling (because I didn’t want them to be true), I’d assumed terminally online people had decided something silly (as has happened before), but the more I looked at it and thought about it, the more I thought, “Ok, I don’t really have proof here, but the odds are...
Indeed. Remember when she tweeted that trans people didn’t deserve rights in the UK because male prisoners could “just claim” to be women in order to get put into women’s prisons so they could rape indiscriminately?
(What makes this an unpopular opinion is that I’m basically advocating for jettisoning an entire Fediverse platform rather than just riding out the rough patch.)...
If they send a bunch of them and they replace container ship traffic, however- how much less pollution is that?
Not saying they don’t face an extremely uphill battle to scale enough for that to make sense (we all know the green angle alone won’t be enough even if it should be…)
You can’t even put /Users fully onto a second drive without hacks that potentially break Windows Update because they can’t even be arsed to use their own environment variables or follow mounts.
“Reformatting huh? Hope you had a backup of all your documents, lol. Hey why not try OneDrive only $199 a year bro”
I don’t think the blame is being put on the messenger here, but rather the world for delving ever deeper into what used to be a satirical view of itself.
The system isn’t morally agnostic dumbass, it literally is greed. It was created for the purpose of greed and it continues funnel all the wealth to the greedy. Loopholes are found around all the rate limiters and speed governors that get designed into the law and federal agencies. They’re trying “company store” tactics again. Fucking child labor is back.
“The system is morally agnostic” imagine the fucking Stockholm Syndrome (yes I’ve heard it’s not actually real stfu)
Now they don’t have to prove his intent. It just makes the case that much easier; no way the defense can raise questions about errors or revisions.
Not that it would matter much, but it basically eliminates any possibility of arguments around it, futile as they may be. Which means there’ll be no time wasted on it (or at most, less time wasted on it).
Just because something seems obvious doesn’t mean it isn’t necessary to prove it.
Do you really think that k8s, which is free (unless you buy a support contract) is less easy to manage at that scale than, what - a bunch of VMs with Docker installed? PHP and a NAS? Is that REALLY the cost sink you think it is?
Brother, what works in your homelab will NOT survive Netflix traffic levels.
And streamers are raising prices to get rich. Not because “k8s hard” lol

This may be difficult to maintain as some query parameters might be necessary. How will they be sure they’re not stripping essential elements? Won’t this become an arms race to mask tracking elements as “legitimate” looking parameters?
Gee, it’s almost like corporations are gouging consumers so badly that their market advantages are being lost due to greed. Inflation this quickly isnt real. It’s what happens when you come off a global pandemic with millions dead and corporations see they can freely abuse you by exploiting the public zeitgeist that prices...

I can tell when something is a piece of shit when it’s in my hand.
If I want to return something i got online I have to get my fucking inkjet printer working (or go to a Staples) to print the return label from my email and then go to the post office and ship it back.
