Doctor appt today, and he happily wrote up all the pain relief I needed prescribed for my shoulder.
I thought it might be difficult to get him to prescribe endone, panadeine forte, mobic, panadol osteo, and palexia.. but we went over how I was taking them all and he agreed that I was fine with how I was approaching it - and that taking such a variety of things meant actually taking less opioid based meds because I was able to keep on top of the pain with things like panadol osteo.
We also did my mental health plan and I hit a 40 on the K10.. which is Very Fucking High. We talked about that, and about how therapy is helping and that a big part of the 40 score is probably actually pain related as well.
He agreed that I showed great insight into my illness and that I was comfortable with being vulnerable enough to ask for help, so I get to skip hospitalisation (fucking yay!) because I have a good support system and I know how to access acute assistance if needed.
But still, 40 was even higher than I was expecting tbh. I'm usually around a 25-27.
I've started a new Fetlife group for disabled people. It was started after it became apparent that the other group was going to allow chasers to fetishise and objectify disabled people and that the group wasn't safe for us.
I used to #crochet until I picked up #knitting; I've been hooked ever since. My latest endeavor is learning how to use a #spinningWheel for #handspinning. My goal for 2024 is to spin and knit a sweater entirely by hand.
I got an HD on the paper I handed in last week. It was a critical analysis of the policy report from People with Disabilities Australia and Domestic Violence NSW.
I'm pretty chuffed with the comment I got from my lecturer 😊
Update to my request for non minty remineralizing toothpaste! Thank you a for your help.
After doing some research it seems I can pretty safely use kids toothpaste that's for 6+ years old. Baby toothpaste has 500ppm fluoride, while kids has the same as adults, 1450ppm. My dentist okayed this.
For anyone looking for your own use, look for kids toothpaste with 1450ppm F, and preferably no SLS (sodium laureth sulfate) which gives the foaming effect.
You can buy unflavoured toothpaste but it's hard to come buy. After researching I've found I can use 2 or 3 different supermarket products, which is so much more convenient than ordering online.
I looked into fluoride tablets, and they are not used or recommended anymore (at least in Australia).
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Here is the original post for anyone curious. Check the comments for the suggestions I got. https://aus.social/
Technology should exist for our convenience, not for the convenience of anyone who wants to interrupt us.

This resonates deeply with me. I loathe constant phone buzzing or browser notifications. Sometimes it feels like we’re slaves to the technology instead of us being the boss.
FYI the #book is not aimed at the #neurodiverse at all; my goal in reading it is to find #research-backed information that can help me understand and handle my distractions and maybe - just maybe - he’ll have some #tips that will be useful for my brain.
For example, knowing that it takes 29 minutes to get back on track after distracting ourselves (vs 6 minutes when distracted by someone else) quantifies the consequences of distractions. Thinking that a distraction = losing half an hour feels much more tangible.
