Lots of great updates to the designer search this time:
New search criteria: whether designers have done any meet-the-designer events; and designer names via a text search
Search inputs are repeated back to you
There's now a reset button for the search inputs
For mobile users, there's now a horizontal line between the search results and the random designer highlight, so there will hopefully be less confusion between the two
Patterns with more than one FO attached to them no longer appear in the search results more than once
If you've chosen to search for patterns by designers from marginalized groups, this search criteria doesn't get lost when you navigate into subsequent pages of the search results
You can now switch between 'or' searches and 'and' searches for several of our pattern search features! (Previously, only 'or' was available, so this really opens up your ability to be precise in your searches!)
And we've refined the pattern search summary statement - it's now bulleted rather than being all one sentence; we hope this makes it easier to understand.
It's time for another random giveaway for the Fasten Off Yarnalong. Please tell us which pattern by a particpating designer you purchased and/or are making for the FOYAL. Provide a link to the pattern if you can
This giveaway will be open for about 24 hours so all timezones have a fair chance to play. We'll randomly draw a winner for a pattern prize by one of our particpating designers.
The #FastenOffYAL discount period comes to an end after midnight tonight (ET). That means you only have about 11.5 hours left to use code FO2023 at checkout on a selection of patterns from our participating #crochet and #knitting designers.
@knitting another Fo off the needles and hook. This is the blanket made from leftovers from the Triple Advent blanket. All the edging has been done and ends woven in. #kmitting#crochet#fo
My first two #FastenOffYAL projects are a fact. I'm crocheting the Chroma Story Scarf by Connie Lee Lynch and knitting the Wrapezoid by Shanalines Designs. I don't think it's hard to guess my favourite colour.
The first random giveaway for the Fasten Off Yarnalong here on Mastodon is an easy one. Please introduce yourself as a crafter in less than 10 words in response to this message

The 2023 #FastenOffYAL has started! If you're wondering what this is all about, you can check out our website at https://www.fastenoffyal.com. In particular, check out the 'search and shop' area; this is where you can search for independent designers and @crochet and @knitting patterns.
A reminder to independent designers that the #FastenOffYAL sign-up period for this year's event is in progress! Head over to https://fastenoffyal.com/signup.html to see all our info for designers, including a link to the sign-up form.

Wow! 43% of #FallFinishAlong_Polls respondents are going to continue through October! That’s awesome! And to everyone else, I hope this was a fun burst of energy in your September (even if it was your spring instead of your fall). I look forward to next year! Remember, #FallFinishAlong didn’t specify WHICH fall you had to finish in ;). Keep posting your projects! Thanks everyone for finishing-along. #knitting#crochet#quilting#ceramics#FiberArts@fiberarts@knitting
I used to #crochet until I picked up #knitting; I've been hooked ever since. My latest endeavor is learning how to use a #spinningWheel for #handspinning. My goal for 2024 is to spin and knit a sweater entirely by hand.
It’s Friday, the start of unofficial Week 5 of the #FallFinishAlong! How’s it going? As September comes to a close, I’m done with most of what I targeted for the month and I am feeling good about casting on. I’m going to try to carry some finishalong energy into October and see if I can finish the slippers I cast on, make some progress on other projects, and maybe kill one or two more! #knitting#FiberArts#crochet#quilting#Ceramics#CrossStitch@knitting@fiberarts
Weaving in / Blocking / Finishing week continues in the #FallFinishAlong.
Question for everyone: what are your favorite finishing tips for your craft? Best way to weave in ends, block, sew things up… any and all tips welcome!
Hello, fedi friends! I will be in Berlin for a couple of days late next week, and I see so many cute crafts supplies from Germany around - can you recommend a store in Berlin that I can go to for #crochet or #knitting supplies? @knitting
