A deeply moving and inspiring collection of notes from the most expressive wall in the world.
In the days and weeks after the 2016 presidential election, Matthew Chavez showed up in the subway with stacks of brightly colored sticky notes. "Express yourself," he told passersby. The response was electric. Chavez turned an underground maze into a communal art space known as Subway Therapy.
@nw@mike that’s a great question. I would also like to know if you can read #flipboard magazines and comments on Flipboard directly here on #mastodon. I know you can post directly from Flipboard to the #fediverse. Engagement would be much better if we can interact directly from both platforms. :flipboard: #Community#activitypub

All are Welcome is a beautiful inclusive picture book celebrating diversity and inclusion at school and in the community. Young readers will feel welcome at school thanks to the warm and touching illustrations.
'Concerns about the decline of X as a source of reliable information extends beyond the scientific and academic communities. During the apparent coup attempt in Russia in June, journalists noticed its relative uselessness at helping them find real-time, breaking information from the ground and sifting fact from fakery, due in part to Musk’s trashing of its account verification system.'
But in my view more important - not only for science, but in general - are #journalists, who analyze, evaluate, select, organize information and put them into context.
Even the #scientific#community itself is more based on people knowing where to find information than a good index/search function.
Back to school time is around the corner ! It is an exciting period for some children and adults, but also a moment of fear and stressful anticipation for others. These great picture books help to prepare young readers for this great moment.
COMMUNITIES AND MUSEUMS IN THE 21ST CENTURY. EDITED ByKaren Brown, Alissandra Cummins, Ana S. González Rueda (Routledge, 2023, CC BY-NC-ND).
"Communities and Museums in the 21st Century brings together innovative, multidisciplinary perspectives on contemporary museology and participatory museum practice that contribute to wider debates on museum communities, heritage, and sustainability."
"With its focus on global societal challenges, this book will appeal to museologists and museum practitioners, as well as those working in heritage studies, cultural studies, memory studies, art history, gender studies, and sustainable development."
Last year this was all invasive bramble. My neighborhood decided to create a roadside wildflower patch here.
Bees, moths, and other pollinators are flitting around that weren't here before.
I know I'm sharing this project a lot. But of all the things I'm trying to do, all the things I'm trying to do and only making marginal progress, it's nice see a few flowers that I KNOW wouldn't have been planted.
@broximar In comparison to #twitter where your content is largely dependent on algorithms spoon-feeding it to you, #mastodon relies on its #community to find new people and follow their content.
In that regard, I'd say you're a lot closer here to making a real friend than just 'someone from Mastodon'. 😁
