callouscomic,

The few times in my life I’ve been to therapy or counseling on times at very different ages in my life for wildly different reasons, it’s interesting that every single time, it amounted to them nicely asking me to let it go. Just stop letting whatever IT is affect you. Thanks asshole. How is that a fucking career?

callouscomic,

userinyerface.com

Something that far too many managers and developers need to see, so they can better understand why their decisions and work completely sucks.

callouscomic,

I’d argue most statues are some form of propaganda that likely don’t tell whole stories.

callouscomic,

I remember freshmen calling me to ask for donations before I had even landed a job.

callouscomic,

The Hobbit trilogy is just as good as Lord of the Rings and the CGI didn’t ruin anything.

The Star Wars prequels are pretty good, and the Rey trilogy was excellent.

callouscomic,

Honestly I think it has a good story about women taking control for themselves even in situations where it seems like they have no control.

callouscomic,

That pretty much only leaves Hallmark Christmas movies. I guess that’s all you like?

callouscomic,

I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car. I put a dollar in, won a car.

callouscomic,

Sony’s own PS Remote Play app has always been garbage. Even on PC, on phones, on anything. I never had faith they’d improve it for Portal. Sony has only disappointed me nonstop since 2011. Steam has only continued to win me over time and time again.

callouscomic,

Sony certainly are morons about device naming.

callouscomic,

Haven’t listened to the radio in over 15 years. Don’t regret it at all. Most of my favorite new music comes rarely, through some form of word of mouth, and usually by supporting the new music on patreon or something.

callouscomic,

Why are bed stock photos always as bright as noon in the middle of summer? Do they sleep with spotlights on?

callouscomic,

That’s literally uncomparable. Government does things that ignore profit. That’s what government is for. The provide services at a loss. The only “profit” might be things like societal improvement, education, security, and such.

callouscomic,

Why is it arbitrarily OK for waiting jobs?

callouscomic,

Don’t see the point of these when it’s always the same popular things, and some don’t drop off the list for a decade. Many of these games are not as good as people suggest. They all just copy each other and play the same crap. Same issue as highest grossing movies, that’s more a product of hype than quality.

The Witcher 3 is an excellent example. Incredibly overrated slow moving dreary game with poor gameplay and controls.

GTA V is super misleading too. This is just one giant PvP map and idiots killing each other. Most of them never actually played the story.

Skyrim is more that people love mods.

callouscomic,

Well I like that about you. Good for you.

callouscomic, (edited )

Abysmally childish amd stupid that guys actually do this and take it seriously. Wonder how many do it involuntarily.

callouscomic,

I seriously do not understand going the fuck to bed earlier. Just go to bed earlier. Your body adapts over time. Sure schools could move the start time, but if not, just start the sleep sooner.

They won’t. So it doesn’t matter.

callouscomic,

Feels like the same families that don’t teach you a damn thing about how to be an adult and then treat you like shit for making any mistakes in life.

callouscomic,

Family reunions: a time when people who largely don’t care at all about one another get together to pretend they don’t all hate each other’s guts and will temporarily try not to talk shit about the others (this will proceed immediately after), during which they all pretend to want to learn useless info about others and it’s always dominated by the most narcissistic of elderly who want to be listened to and hear their own voice a lot.

callouscomic,

I think the combined improvements is game changing. It all runs longer, cooler, lighter, larger screen and brighter, and the screw changes for improved repairability is huge.

callouscomic,

A metal gear type game where the AI is trained on how all players play worldwide and it adapts and evolves over time in how it stations and uses its soldiers against you and for patrols. Every time you go back to play, the layouts and movements and gear and reactions of enemy AI differ.

callouscomic,

Do you like getting your asshole licked by a fat man in an overcoat?

callouscomic,

I’d like to add tacos to the conversation.

callouscomic,

Elder scrolls online.

callouscomic,

The first time was on PC and I started in Vvardenfell and I think I just didn’t like the setting or feel like using PC controls.

The 2nd time was years later, I was literally wanting a new mmorpg, so there was more desire, I did it on console, began in Khenarthi’s and found a fun guild. Worlds of difference for so many reasons.

callouscomic,

The United States does the same thing all over the Southwest. Rural people will tell you.

callouscomic,

It’s so hilarious to me how much comic artists go insanely out of their way to always ensure there’s a thigh gap. Ridiculous.

Younger users of Lemmy: Did you ever love a game that you just really sucked at?

So I was watching a few youtubes and remembered how the vast majority (of like the ten) nes games me and my sister had were hard as all hell. I loved to play Little Nemo and Street Fighter 2010 but I am pretty sure I never made it past the third level of either. Let alone infamously hard games like The Lion King....

callouscomic,

Terraria. Spent so much time in it. Tons of fun. I liked a lot of it. But I compared to other friends and realized I was terrible and barely even saw much of the game cause I didn’t get very far.

callouscomic,

They still support their Steam Link device that they stopped making like 6 years ago.

callouscomic,

Oh god, you’re with a woman who doesn’t NEED you and yet still chooses to be WITH you? The horror! /s

Homer has stopped strangling Bart in The Simpsons and it’s about time (www.theguardian.com)

Nothing lasts forever. In time, the continents will crash into each other once more, the sun will swallow the planet and, at some point long after that, The Simpsons will end. But that isn’t to say that it’s incapable of moving with the times before then. Because, in yet another nod to shifting tastes, Homer Simpson has...

callouscomic,

Literally entire super bowl episode? Gags about 10 billion hours of pre-game? Small bits where Homer chuckles at sports commentators? Homer taking over running the kids football team? Mark McGuire distracting everyone from a surveillance conspiracy? Homer literally chained himself to a post to protest losing the Isotopes?

There were tons back in the day.

callouscomic,

Gen Z and millennial adults are having a hard time achieving the same milestones their parents did when they first ventured out into the workforce, such as finding a job, getting promoted or buying a house.

Ha! What a joke of an article. The financial and environmental and social concerns today are wildly different. Many CAN’T do what their parents or grandparents did. It’s not a one to one comparison.

callouscomic,

I’ll bet you think the invisible hand of the free market actually works too don’t you, and deregulation is just perfectly peachy and nobody gets hurt?

callouscomic,

Yes, and some kids don’t have parents, and some kids have horrible parents. And some of us aren’t pieces of shit, and we would like rights and protections for those who can’t defend themselves from shitty parents, so therefore we ignore how “theoretically” things could be better if all parents were magically “doing their jobs” and sometimes it makes sense to sue or institute laws to force people to not harm their kids.

callouscomic,

You presume there always exists a capable parent to fail. You are displaying privilege. You are displaying a classic case of “I won’t care until it happens to me.” and arguing for perfection.

In this world view, no company should ever be held responsible for harm to others, and no laws should exist to protect people from things, and no services should exist to help those in need of things since apparently everyone can and should just be perfect citizens all the time and raised properly by well-adjusted adults. /s

callouscomic,

I suspect this was done to me. I found out my SS and name was used for various utilities related things back when I was a young child. When asked, my parents insisted some OTHER family members must have done it, and they never answered how the hell other family members got my SS when my parents are typically super secretive and protective of info like that.

I still don’t believe them.

callouscomic,

Saying “Isntreal” is a pretty childish way to discuss serious issues.

Whats the best budget friendly way to transfer vhs tapes

Hiya, pretty much the title. I have a dozen tapes I want to backup before age takes its toll. My basic idea after watching some videos online is to buy a hardware based upscaler that can interface with my vcr then throw that signal to a video capture card and record on my computer. I’ll go with name brands to avoid problems...

callouscomic,

A lot of places like local libraries sometimes have events for this purpose. You bring your stuff and they help you digitize it. Could look into that locally.

Every so often, girls need to release evil demons within them or else they’ll be consumed by hellfire. Everybody knows this.

callouscomic,

Which was also a KFC sandwich.

Explaining the joke is fun!

callouscomic,

Yes, ignoring and not acknowledging and teaching history is a good way to not repeat it.

callouscomic,

Reminds me of when North Carolinas own oceanic and atmospheric agency published a study on the negative effects climate change will have on their coastal towns, and what they need to do in response to that.

So their state government responded by banning the use of terms like climate change.
