What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games?

I’ve been thinking about making this thread for a few days. Sometimes, I play a game and it has some very basic features that are just not in every other game and I think to myself: Why is this not standard?! and I wanted to know what were yours....

callouscomic,

Games that don’t need patches.

callouscomic,

Your first problem is giving a shit what anyone else thinks.

callouscomic,

Clearly both sides want the other wholly and completely gone. That is, the extremist leaders. I’m sure the viewpoints across the general public varies wildly on both sides and is fed by their own internal propaganda.

My question is, why do any of us outside that region care? If you are not from that region, or do not have some kind of ties to that region, then why should anyone care so much what they do to each other? And I don’t care about religion. “Oh its a religious area so Christians care or something.” That doesn’t justify meddling over there.

callouscomic, (edited )

Drop a nuke directly on that temple/mosque site they all argue about. End of story. Everyone loses.

callouscomic,

Why would anyone care about fake internet votes on meaningless comments? Weird thing to worry about.

callouscomic,

Okay well then fuck em I guess. Shrug. We’ve tried nothing and we’re all outta ideas. Without a complete and total answer for [random internet jackass] then nothing can be done.

callouscomic,

Them kick em both out, bomb Jerusalem, move on.

callouscomic,

Do you realize you have just singlehandedly explained the Israel-Hamas situation and we can all stop arguing and pretending to be experts about it?

callouscomic,

According to your own logic, the Jews should have never needed Israel handed back to them then.

callouscomic,

Perhaps get off the internet and stop involving yourself so much in something that likely doesn’t affect you. You went into the fire and then complained about it.

Louisiana public school principal apologizes after punishing student for dancing at a party (apnews.com)

The 17-year-old student government president and scholarship candidate was videotaped dancing at an off-campus party following Walker High School’s Sept. 30 Homecoming festivities. A hired DJ took the video and posted it on social media. Three days later, Jason St. Pierre, principal of the public high school near the state...

callouscomic,

Some people actually have skills and use them. The rest say it’s a popularity contest and talk about “its not what you know, it’s who you know” in order to make themselves feel better.

callouscomic,

You’ve just described all Christians as well, based on my life experience.

callouscomic,

Haha, you’re making their point.

callouscomic,

But but but I was told by Christians to fear the rise of one world government!!!

callouscomic,

Asking for or even suggesting tips of any kind anywhere. Also gratuities, service fees, and any other kind of made up fee. Show a price, end of story.

Also outlaw not including taxes. Show full complete prices.

callouscomic,

Cringey Boomer-esque joke about murdering people simply cause inconvenience.

callouscomic, (edited )

I think if a company gets large enough to cover multiple jurisdictions, then you can expend the cost to figure that all out. If anything it might make it harder for these mega companies. Screw em. They make plenty of profit. They’ll adapt.

Separately, more consistent taxation would be nice.

callouscomic,

Fine, but me personally, I don’t care how much is tax. Do it like gasoline. Tax is already part of it.

callouscomic,

Who are these magical “adults”?

callouscomic,

Pathetic.

callouscomic, (edited )

Ah yes of course. I forgot. That has gone so well so many times before.

callouscomic,

Hardcore “I’m 14 and this is deep”

callouscomic,

General Strikes are impossible.

callouscomic,

Can I introduce you to all of human history?

callouscomic,

Just a recent meme trend. However, I will note Nascar has union attempts deep in its earlier days that were even supported by Jimmy Hoffa.

America's nonreligious are a growing, diverse phenomenon. They really don't like organized religion (apnews.com)

Mike Dulak grew up Catholic in Southern California, but by his teen years, he began skipping Mass and driving straight to the shore to play guitar, watch the waves and enjoy the beauty of the morning. “And it felt more spiritual than any time I set foot in a church,” he recalled....

callouscomic, (edited )

Religion gave my family and the closed groups I was forced to be raised around excuses for all their abuse and desire to judge others. Religion is a core part of all my childhood abuse and trauma and my own adult issues. I have zero interaction with any of them anymore, and I cannot respect anyone who proselytizes in the slightest about anything.

In my lifetime, those who followed organized religion of many types are always those who are the meanest, most ruthless, judgmental critical assholes I have ever dealt with. They sure put on a good show, but I’ve seen who they truly are enough to spot it anymore. All bullshit. Excuses for liars to hide behind.

callouscomic,

I’m telling you from experience that their “community” is fake. The people are fake. Under the fake stuff that looks nice on the outside is a deep culture of judgment and shame and fear. It’s not any community I would ever want. Like family get together for family’s that hate each other but they fake it.

To those who will try to tell me “well not ME or MY church.” I don’t care and I don’t believe you. I have been harmed too much too consistently by these groups.

callouscomic,

How many people in Missouri railing against her are also subscribed to her? I bet it’s a lot.

callouscomic,

So even if they had sold it on Steam, this was likely not going to work on Steam Deck? Doesn’t this denuvo kind of stuff cause issues?

callouscomic,

Good to know. I haven’t run into any issues, but I dunno if any games I’ve played had it. I had considered getting Mirage for Steam Deck, but I really don’t want to own it on ubisofts app.

callouscomic,

You sound like a recent Econ grad wielding little fun facts you learned to throw in peoples faces. Unnecessarily judgmental. People waste money on all kinds of things every day. It’s not a problem if it isn’t being done to inappropriate levels.

Hurr durr tax on the poor.

callouscomic,

Gross oversimplification

callouscomic,

And then in some places they decide to divert the school money for a new Raiders stadium.

callouscomic, (edited )

I love how you talk down and try and frame me as a youth, guessing you’re either pretty young yourself

You chastise me for implying you are young, and then immediately call me young.

You then attack the use of ageism and proceed to do it to me after.

Wow what inconsistent stupidity.

callouscomic,

Family is toxic and pointless. I don’t know why people subject themselves to it as adults.

I’m talking about extended family, beyond your adult household.

callouscomic,

Well yeah pretty much. It is incredibly difficult for some though to come to that realization and apply it to family, because there’s so much pressure put on family relationships that nearly all abuse will be overlooked when if the people weren’t family they’d never choose to interact or ever get along. The arbitrary family connection causes years of pointless suffering.

callouscomic,

RAPE! She helped him RAPE!

GET THE FUCKING HEADLINES CORRECT.

A 12 year old did not “get pregnant by grown man.” She was FUCKING RAPED!

Holy shit, it implies the issue here was the getting pregnant. There’s a little something that occurred before that and it was called RAPE!

callouscomic,

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin called today’s vote to oust McCarthy a “sad day for our country” that sends a negative message to the rest of the world about American democracy.

-Said a douchebag who spent years obstructing progress.

callouscomic,

If we oversimplify what happened, it’s hilarious that they are mad at him for voting with Dems, so they got rid of him by voting with Dems.

callouscomic,

Go nuts on bluray around black Friday. Be willing to wait to own things til later. Gain interest in movies that flopped. Before you know it you’ll own insane amounts of high quality movies for cheap.

callouscomic,

Same middle manager who actually wants to come back to the office instead of remote working and always suggests ridiculous “positives” of it, but you know they just hate their home life is what it is.

callouscomic,

Awesome. So instead of simply having the taliban, now they can enjoy the taliban AND environmental degradation.

/s

callouscomic,

The most liked AC games are good games, but not good AC games. I’ve only played certain ones, cause most of them lost the charm the original was going for. Mirage gives hope they’ve remembered the point of the series.

I find this is the case for most of my favorite series. The most popular entries are usually the ones that least resemble the point of any series.

Black flag is incredibly overrated.

callouscomic,

Hey! They also can drive Far Cry and all the Tom Clancy series into the ground, while also forgetting the rest of their beloved series even existed.

callouscomic,

And corporations will be right there to buy it all up and further make it worse.

callouscomic,

Got it. So when I also limit my exposure to cost increases by switching to a cheaper grocery store, I’m “investing” in groceries.

Ridiculous.
