It’s been almost 27 years since the first Austin Powers movie and the world still doesn’t have any sharks with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads.
Article by Associated Press: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ anti-trans law have resulted in a school getting fined for allowing a young trans girl to play sports in a girls’ team.
The student, a 10th grader who played in 33 matches over the last two seasons, was removed from the team last month after the Broward County School District was notified by an anonymous tipster about her participation. Her removal led hundreds of Monarch students to walk out of class two weeks ago in protest.
Good on those kids for standing up for their classmate. And good on the adults at the school that let her continue playing volleyball for as long as they could. Fuck DeSantis and fuck Florida.
Damn right. Imagine being such a piece of garbage that you choose to spend your free time trying to take a sport away from a 15 year old kid. It’s unconscionable.
Well I’m pretty sure as soon as those 179 episodes of The Apprentice that we broadcast in all directions for 11 years reaches an alien civilization it’s going to provoke an attack that destroys the entire solar system.
Many Ukrainian children are put in Russian-run schools and camps. Several rescued Ukrainian children told “60 Minutes” what happens at these camps is less about recreation, and more about re-education. They said they were told repeated lies: that Ukraine lost the war and that their parents didn’t want them.
That’s so messed up. You’d have to be a fucking monster to tell children that their parents don’t want them. It’s one of the cruelest things you could say to a kid.
Ask Lemmy is a place to ask thought provoking questions. The mods have been lenient with some of the recent posts on the basis that they must provoke thought for some people, but after seeing two posts essentially saying “what do you think of my stick?”, I believe we can raise the bar a bit on what kind of thoughts we want...
Yep. Shame on any company or individual that’s still active on Twitter. It’s a nazi platform now and there’s no excuse to still be there. Mastodon exists, so if you’re still on Twitter you are part of the problem.
I’m noticing an influx of Reddit users today, maybe revolving around their weird bug they had today. I know this question pops up semi regularly, but for those just getting their foot in the door maybe we can help show them what else is out here on the Fediverse to help them get started....
!moviesandtv is a pretty great community if you’re into movies and tv. It’s where a lot of the regulars from [email protected] went after the lemmy.film instance was shut down.
It looks like most of you had difficulty reaching the site for about 5 minutes, but those issues should have subsided.
During that time, you may have been shown an incorrect error message that read:
<span style="color:#323232;">Whoa there, pardner! reddit's awesome and all, but you may have a bit of a problem.

</span><span style="color:#323232;">Make sure your User-Agent is not empty, is something unique and descriptive and try again. if you're supplying an alternate User-Agent string, try changing back to default as that can sometimes result in a block.

To share some additional context on what happened - we pushed a bad code change in our tooling that resulted in a significant amount of users getting blocked without doing anything wrong. So if you happened to see that error message within the last hour, don’t fret! We’ve reverted the code change that caused this error and things should be back to normal very soon if they aren’t already.
Fuck boomer Christmas. Claymation sucks. Charlie Brown is boring. Frosty should’ve been left to melt. And ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ bombed at the box office for a reason. Just because it was dirt-cheap for TV stations to air during the Holidays in the late '70s/'80s doesn’t make it good.
“If we determine that an advertiser doesn’t disclose as required,” Meta said in its blog post Wednesday, “we will reject the ad and repeated failure to disclose may result in penalties against the advertiser.”
Now I’m gonna put this blindfold on and you just leave the money on the desk. Make sure you don’t break our super serious ad rules that we totally enforce or else the consequences will be super serious and totally enforced!
