A buddy from college is a somewhat famous twitch streamer. I remember seeing him a few years after college and asking what he was up to, and couldn’t believe he was making any money just streaming himself playing League. My brain couldn’t comprehend who would want to watch that. That was like 10 years ago, and dude is still doing it, and hasn’t worked a real job in a decade. I’m low key jealous AF.

I watched that same video, and it inspired me to upgrade my microwave game. I’ve had the same one for like a decade and it sucked. New one has all the bells / whistles and does air frying too. It’s night and day compared to the old one

Can I get UberEats to stop recommending to "bundle" alcohol from a liquor store to your order?

It just annoys me because I’m not going to order it and I’m abstaining from alcohol. But there’s always some “special deals” being advertised by UberEats on alcohol, as well as meat, dairy and eggs. It’s like they’re really sleazy and desperate to hawk these products.

My buddy’s dad is an alcoholic with a ton of health issues. He had a stroke a while back and had to quit drinking as a result. He can’t drive anymore or even really leave the house. Well, his wife recently passed away, and someone showed him door dash and Uber eats was a thing to help him get food delivered. He saw they had alcohol on it, and now he regularly gets beer delivered. Like, the guy’s old AF n lost his wife, so who am I to judge him wanting to get liquored up, but he probably wouldn’t be drinking right now if this all happened 10 years ago.

I agree. It’s expensive, but the burgers are great. I especially like the customization. I have one in my town n only go once in a while. I don’t think I’ve been in like a year, but when I do go, it’s hot fire.

I just stepped on a slug on accident the other day without noticing. I had flip flops on, and the flip flop acted as dead a slug catapult as I stepped forward. It landed on the back of my bare leg while wearing shorts. I was so grossed out. Washed tf out of my leg. My story pales in comparison to yours, but fuck slugs.

I have a similar truck. It’s great for hauling junk around. I’ve had it since college. It used to be my daily driver. Now I have a commuter car, but I use that for errands. The thing is a tank. I also get notes on it all the time. I paid $500 for it 10 years ago. People have offered me $10k. It’s very tempting, but I love that truck.

Like others, I came over when Reddit was banning 3rd party apps. Many communities were being started and I wanted to help. So I chose one community to form here and try and grow. And we did! There was a time a short while in the little KC Chiefs community was in the top 100 communities on Lemmy world. I knew that wouldn’t last...

Now that we’ve cleared up that order of business, yes, it is disappointing that there aren’t many niche communities. I still have to go to /r/raiders because there is little to no activity on the Raiders instances I found. Granted, I’ll admit, I’m kinda part of the problem bc when I looked them up, I just saw the posts were outdated and old, and never bothered engaging, or trying to make those communities happen. I remember they blacked out our sub for a day or week or whatever, and nothing really came of it. Engagement seems the same. I’m guessing sports communities as a whole don’t really care about the bs reddit pulled w 3rd party apps, and probably were less likely to have been using a 3rd party app or cared. I remember seeing comments along the lines of “good, glad the sub’s back. What were y’all even trying to accomplish with your little protest anyways?” I wish people did care because I have to use the shitty mobile site for reddit bc I’m for sure not installing their dumpster fire app.

I think you’re thinking about Celsius. SBF absolutely had his own coin, and it is tantamount to the whole FTX collapse. Their competitor owned a shit load of it, it was called FTT iirc. He then just decided to tweet out that they were selling all their FTT, and then everyone started selling FTT which started a run on the token.

The company also pumped FTT and other tokens value through their hedge fund Alameda research. The man deserves every last day of sentencing.

You’d be surprised the amount of times I’ve heard someone say they got something after seeing a targeted ad. I personally just zone out until the ad’s done. It’s hard to believe people actually pay attention, and then go so far as clicking the ad and buying the product.

I’m seeing a lot of reports from users of Huawei and Honor devices have reported that their phones are incorrectly identifying Google apps as Trojan malware, specifically labeled as TrojanSMS-PA. According to the alert, this “malicious software” has the ability to send SMS messages without user consent.

That thing was a POS. Thankfully Google gave me a Pixel XL with double the storage on the house because of it, but I also in hindsight worry that my personal data was being backdoored to Beijing. 10 years ago me should have been wiser to not buy a Chinese company’s phone.

I played BotW a lot, and really loved it. I feel like the beginning of the game was relatively easy compared to TotK, I died a few times trying out things, discovering the game and possibilities ; in TotK I died a lot and still do even with good gear and armour (1*-2* armors, 30-40+ damage weapons). You could say it’s skill...

Even though they basically just reskinned BOTW and added a new story to it, this game is still a freaking masterpiece. I’ve put in a ton of hours and still haven’t completed it. Granted, I could beat the game any time I want to, but I’m really into exploring everything, and want to get all the shrines / lightroots.

I’ve found that going back to a plastic film cover instead of glass made the fingerprint scanner work every time. Having said that, I’d much rather have a glass screen protector. This new design forced me to buy a different screen protector and case style than I’m used to, and imo, my case / screen protector is a downgrade. I usually buy cases with built in screen protectors, but every one of those I tried were shit with the fingerprint reader. This, like so many of Google’s ‘innovations’ is a terrible idea. They’ve clearly run out of ideas on what to do next with hardware on smartphones. I just want my 2011 phone with 2023 performance / OS. Everything they’ve done after that has been a downgrade.

If you’re that concerned, if you power your phone off, biometrics will not unlock the phone after it’s turned back on, only the pin. So if you find yourself in a predicament where you think someone will try to unlock your phone without your consent via biometrics, as, long as you turn your phone off before they get it, they won’t be able to get in without a PIN.

Yep, I remember riding in Ubers and conversing with the drivers about it at the time. A lot of their responses were to the effect of “well Uber told us X on a notification on my phone.” And I would ask them do you really think Uber has your best interest in mind? I hope I actually woke a few of them up, but most did little to no research, and were actively telling people to vote for it.
