The bottom b*tch is almost always a woman.

How many of you run a Linux phone (Pine64, Librem etc) as your daily driver?

I was going through Pine64’s page again after I found the latest KDE announcement. With that said, I seem to see a lot of issues with firmware on the Pine, whilst the Librem is just plain out of budget for me. Was interested in how many people here run a Linux mobile as a daily driver, and how has your experience been?...

I think what we’ll see is a fractured Activity Pub network. One mainstream and one for all the cool kids. If done right itll only be a gateway to other activity pub networks which to me is a good thing.

slacktoid,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

I see… But why? (jk)

that looks dope!!

The UN with their permanent members are a disgrace. All they do is uphold imperialism and say please don’t do that.

The license change is to a GPL variant from the Apache license. How does that affect the regular user? Wouldn’t it be better?

slacktoid,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

I hear what youre saying, I don’t like the license exceptions. I just hope it doesnt go that route.

Wasn’t on the list but yes video is gonna be the hardest.

How do y'all deal with programs not supported on Linux?

I’ve been seeing all these posts about Linux lately, and looking at them, I can honestly see the appeal. I’d love having so much autonomy over the OS I use, and customize it however I like, even having so many options to choose from when it comes to distros. The only thing holding me back, however, is incompatibility issues....

@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

If you must and you have the hardware maybe run Windows in a VM just for those applications. You can even suspend the vm state to resume from where you were.

slacktoid,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

That weirdly makes sense. I hate it. But kinda makes sense with some people.

slacktoid,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

OP pleaee let me know if you find a solution. So far what i host is for me… Matrix bridges are a godsend.

slacktoid,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

What is an open standardization process?

slacktoid,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

This is xmpps open standardization process. Its good. Its also similar to matrix in that you propose and people comment on it. They both have the core elements needed to be an open standardization process. So stop gatekeeping.

@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

Then outline the ways they are different and source it.

Realistically there is an equation money lost by ad blockers vs money gained by making ad blocking harder (money in - dev cost) unless its about sending a message.

Blockchain is a 0 trust distributed ledger. It can store anything. The 0 trust forces it to do expensive things. That make it not worth it

slacktoid,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

Yes and it will also be the year of linux desktop

slacktoid,
@slacktoid@lemmy.ml avatar

I do think the curve will be exponential when it does happen, so 10% is not nothing. also we have only had 10 or so years of an effort from the linux community to make it accessible. Till then every major distro was a DIY project.
