What are the best trackers (and other sources) for pirating 3D objects ?

Finally got a 3d printer, but the first thing I wanted to print… the model is 400$usd. It’s a piece of machinery I repair at work. I just wanted to print it as a decoration for my toolbox but that is almost week’s wages after taxes for me so :( Maybe I can find it on the high seas ?

ByroTriz,

What are you looking for specifically?

ByroTriz,

Nice. I dunno if there even is such a thing as trackers for STL files, I do know some places where you can find files from specific topics like warhammer minis and so on; but other than that I wouldn’t know where to find such a thing

The "bovine" joke in The Restaurant at the end of the Universe (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series)

The whole “bovine” joke was hilarious on one hand and a little horrifying on the other. It got me thinking: how would I feel if an animal I was about to consume came up to me enthusiastically conveying its consent for being eaten? I will be horrified, just like Arthur! But why?...

ByroTriz,

Plants can think and likely feel pain. There’s a whole field of research on it.

ByroTriz,

Very funny

ByroTriz,

Plant sensing is well established scientific fact, but that’s not all. Experiments show they can learn from experience and remember things. Their intelligence is mostly hormonal so their reaction times is about 1 or 2 orders of magnitude lower than animals. Information processing happens in their system of root apexes, so that’s their “brain”

ByroTriz,

Good. Facebook should just die.

ByroTriz,

open source hardware has a lot of potential

ByroTriz,

I mean home manufacturing is cool and all, but in the short term open source hardware has the potential to create a lot more competition in traditional manufacturing. Most big tech rely on IP nowadays, without it there would be more competitors to drive prices down and increase supply. Home manufacturing is more in the far future IMO

Noob Question: If you aren't willing to deal with custom OSes like Linux (for computers) and Android Custom Roms (for phones), do you just not have any privacy at all?

I mean, exactly how invasive are default operating systems? (Like Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Android, iOS) Do they log your keystrokes, log passwords, capture screen, upload your photos, videos, or audio? (Assuming you aren’t a target of government) Is it even possible for the average person who doesn’t feel comfortable...

ByroTriz,

for mobile a low effort approach is to simply buy a dumbphone and a faraday bag and you’re good to go.

How to run a shadow library: operations at Anna’s Archive (annas-blog.org)

" I run Anna’s Archive, the world’s largest open-source non-profit search engine for shadow libraries, like Sci-Hub, Library Genesis, and Z-Library. Our goal is to make knowledge and culture readily accessible, and ultimately to build a community of people who together archive and preserve all the books in the world … In...
