The Bonsai in the picture is a 3.5 mt (10 feet) Ficus retusa linn that’s over 1000 years old. It is also known as the Crespi Ficus, because it is exhibited at the entrance of the Crespi Bonsai Museum in Milan, Italy. The owner of this museum, Luigi Crespi, fought for decades for this unique Bonsai tree, and finally got...
I always thought bonsai meant little tree. 10 feet tall isn’t little.
Edit: I looked it up.
Bonsai defined The word “Bon-sai” (often misspelled as bonzai or banzai) is a Japanese term which, literally translated, means “planted in a container”.
Eufy robo vac. The cheaper model. It sets off at 3am each night and cleans the downstairs floors. Every morning I get up to a freshly vacuumed floor, it’s magical. I hate hovering so with every penny.
Came here to say this. The entire legacy of Kain / SoulReaver series. I have them on steam, but they are unfortunately very dated. I could see them redone in the same style as god of war to make some company a lot of money.

I’m having no issues avoiding American politics. When I started Lemmy I just used all and blocked any communities that put out stuff I didn’t want to see, politics, furry porn etc now my all feed is pretty well curated, my experience with 12 years on Reddit was not the same I couldn’t avoid the American politics, as people posted them in subs where they had no business being.
Yeah, they lack personal freedom in USA, it’s just the way it is. Freedom means it’s ok for your boss to spy on you, they’re free to do that and you are free to be spied on. Oh and they get to own a gun which makes them like really really cool and tough.
Sometimes I like to boil all my water at the start of the month and then freeze it, to save time when cooking pasta. Always hate having to wait for water to boil first.
I’m far too lazy to look this up. Is this the sort of interesting fact I might mention in conversation to appear clever without somebody quickly correcting me and making me look silly?
America seems to be a complete cluster fuck shithole of a country lately. The rest of the world is pretty dire but America seems to take the lead. When you elected a corrupt media personality to lead who is now being charged with election fraud and multiple other crimes where he tried to install himself as a dictator and a large portion of the population not only lap up his bullshit but are ready to outright kill people in his name and still believe he did nothing wrong is all the proof needed. The grooming by the church, the grooming by republicans etc just sounds awful. Now admittedly I don’t live there and my only insight is from stories that make national headlines I have to believe it’s not as bad as it sounds, but the majority of sane Americans I talk to don’t give me much hope. Not claiming that where I am in the world is much better, but we can still say at least it’s not as bad as America.

What’s a woke photo? I don’t even know what woke means but I hear it all the time. Is it interchangeable with tolerant? Seems to be my understanding, just another word for tolerance, what does that even look like in photo form?
I’m Dev ops and a developer, I use cuda daily and kubernetes is my personal stack of choice. I have to use the real thing constantly for servers etc. It works ok, would much rather a Linux server than a windows one. But servers is where it ends.
My last use of Linux for personal machine was Ubuntu on an Alienware laptop. It didn’t have drivers for most of it. Got 90% of it working (took a good 6 hours) then one day I went to stick my headphones in and the jack wasn’t working (a Linux issue) I went back to windows and never looked back.
People scream about Linux being so much better but the hard truth is it just isn’t unless you are also willing to reinvent several wheels that are already handled for you in other operating systems. But if you like that level of fine control over every element and are ok with your UI lacking the finishes of commercial ones and custom drivers not being as effective with hardware management as the proprietary ones then Linux is the distro of choice. There seems to be a very thin line between people bragging about Linux to make it appear they are smarter than they are and actual Linux users, like it’s some sort of tech badge to shout that you love Linux that gives you some sort of superiority but after 25+ years in the industry I can honestly say all the actual Linux users I’ve met are also all very much on the spectrum and don’t have people skills. It would be fair to say what they are looking for in an OS isn’t the same as everybody else.
I’m currently playing through it, just reached the underdark. I have to say it really is the best D&D style game I’ve ever played. They really handle a lot of the mechanics very well. I’ve been glued to it (15hrs playtime at time of posting)
I’m also playing it on a controller via steamlink (and even though steam link has a lot of issues) the controller support is next level for such a complex ui, there are a lot of options and it gives you a completely different UI on controller than it does on keyboard and mouse. The keyboard option is much easier, as to be expected, but the fact I can seamlessly play it at my desk and lounging on the couch is really a blessing I didn’t expect for this style RPG.
The story is, so far, fantastic. It has a lot of the divinity feel, though it is all voice acted. The companions are fun and compelling I can’t wait to unravel each of their stories. The main story is just delightful and twisted. The gameplay and combat is very D&D 5e and is super fun, though it’s very much divinity combat V3 and both divinity games I’ve played excelled here.
Finally and one of my favourite features. I paid £50 on steam for the game (most AAA titles are closer to £60) and there’s no in game store, no mechanics making me spend more on the game, I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything without opening my wallet, it’s refreshing. I’ve not checked yet, but divinity has mods adding classes and even content for future playthroughs I’m really hoping this is the same and the community add to the game for when I decide to play it a second and maybe even third time.
All in all I would very much recommend this game, even if you’re not a d&d player, you don’t really have to understand all the mechanics to play, just read options as you level your characters and pick what sounds the most appealing to you. There is the option to respec your toons as you play though it costs in game gold, which isn’t hard to come by.
You know I can’t afford fancy clothes. So I just wear cheaper brands. I don’t tell everyone wearing fancy clothes that there are cheaper brands available, I just let them be them and wear what they like. Maybe if I could afford it I would wear them too.
Really struggling to see everybody’s problem in the thread. If you don’t want to pay for an app don’t. If you’re happy with a less polished app use that. Why is everyone so intent on controlling what others should and shouldn’t do when it has absolute zero bearing on them?
I’m a Dev, I spend lots of my time in Linux, some might call me a power user I’ve been doing it for a lot of years, probably longer than most. Yet I use windows on my personal machine, I use windows because I like the polish, I spend all my time fucking around in Linux to get stuff working stuff that just works out the box in other os. I get why Linux is good I get why people like it, personally I like an easier life, I don’t want to spend 2 hours configuring some container to play a game or piece of software that would just work on windows. It’s part of what you pay for. The apps are much the same, I’ve tried many of the Lemmy apps since I moved here, some better than others all fairly decent but sync has a polish and presentation that is unmatched (in my personal opinion, your experience may be different) and I’m happy to compensate a developer for his time spent building the app, he gets to eat I get to mindlessly scroll it’s win win. Well it is until people start shitting their opinions all over the place.
Personally I think it’s people like you that dictate how others should act and tell them what they’re allowed to enjoy to be the cancer. There’s a reason the world hates dictators.
There is a reason I’m posting for a product. It’s like saying you don’t need to buy a ps5 to game when you can use your 15 in 1 game thing you have at home. Is not the same
