Jeez, why can’t we have nice things ?!

What are the alternatives ? I’ll be searching.

If you guys find something, please, report back.

Edit: For gallery, this looks promising: f-droid.org/…/deckers.thibault.aves.libre/

The one and only up to date dialer app I could find. Updated 50 minutes ago at the time of posting this: github.com/oxcened/opendialer

Please, call for help. Here is a list of hotline support from all around the world.

You being on earth right now is some kind of wonderful magic event. Think of the odds of you being on this giant rock lost in vacuum thinking about your own condition and building a family.

Don’t loose that magical spark, you’re worth it :)

First, remember that you’re not fighting this war alone. The most important part is educating people who are curious about it around you.

Second, it’s not about winning; it’s about being the biggest pain in the ass possible for people making money off our privacy.

Keep fighting in the way that suits you best.

I’m using Partisan SMS, which is also a fork of QKSMS, that manages encryption, which is a great plus. Unfortunately, it is not actively maintained and I fear it might get obsolète soon.

That’s really awesome seeing people forking this incredible app :)

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Yes, you use it as a regular SMS app. You just can choose which conversation is encrypted. Of course, the receiver must also use PSMS.

If tried lot of selfhosted note taking apps. A lot.

While Trillium is polished and efficient, I find that the PWA makes the UI hard to navigate and read. It deserves a real app, optimized for smaller screens.

I haven’t really used obisidian as it is a bit overkill for my use case anyway. So not using trillium wasn’t such a loss.

I ended up using bookstack for my knowledge base, and flatnotes for everyday note taking.

Hello. I’m a bit late to the party but would you mind sharing your working example ?

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

I already have an ungoogled chromium on my PC. That’ll help :)

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Librewolf is my main browser and I only use it when I can.

Sorry for my ignorance, but can you tell me more about PortableApps ? Is it this portableapps.com ?

I f I understand, this is some kind of platform that allows me to use, well, portable apps ?

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Thank you for the tips :)

@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Thank you for this very elaborated answer.

You might hear from me in the next months, where we’ve actually moved. I lack people in my surrounding having the same kind of professional activity :)

And I join my fellow lemmings into thinking your answer is very thoughtful and benevolent. The world need more people like you ♥

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

You’re right. I might just actually spin a firefox in docker :)

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

I will post to pixelfed anyway. But it sure doesn’t have a lot of reach…

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Thanks a lot for your explanation :)

@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

I will need to have some spare time to have a look at this (and understand it). I might hyu in the near future ;)

Thanks for the info :)

Undoubtedly

@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Selfhosting, including pihole.

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

You are so fucking blocked.

I don’t get brave’s strategy here. This is such bad publicity for an already shady company.

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

I think my phrasing wasn’t good, or maybe I misunderstand what you say (not a native English speaker), but I know how to run a container. I just want to run an existing app inside a container :)

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Thank you for the ressource. I’ll check it out

Great, thank you for the link :)

Thank you, I’ll make good use of your advice :)

Wow, thank you for this very thorough explanation. Makes it a lot easier to apprehend and easier to start my research :)

[seeking solution] self hosted search engine

My latest Google search replacement recently made a decision that basically forces me to turn off ad block in order to click results. I was wondering if there was any self hosted solution that is fairly easy to deploy in TrueNAS scale or if it is even worth doing. Bonus points if it’s federated somehow. I’ll deal with bad...

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Like others, I use searxng.

But you can also try whoogle and librex

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

I’ve been using the most recent fork and it was good, but as I said, I want to ditch Nextcloud as a whole.

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Looks promising. I’ll be following. Thanks

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

I do, but I’ll be running FileRun or something alike

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

I’m willing to ditch Nextcloud as a whole

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Sorry if it wasn’t the right term, not a native English speaker ;)

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

I use memos already, but for another purpose. This app is great :)

Never posted here and only lurking because I’ve never been diagnosed and I just feel close to people suffering from ADHD as I can relate with a lot of symptoms.

I relate with 95% of the points you enumerate. If you get diagnosed, please, follow up.

This is a freaking great guide. I wish I had this wonderful resource when I started selfhosting. Thanks for this.

People might also want to have a look at pihole as an alternative to adguard for add blocking. It is awesome.

I prefer homepage over heimdall. It is more configurable, but less noob friendly.

Jellyseer is a fork of overseer that integrates very well with jellyfin. Reiveer is promising for discovering and adding content.

generation-free dot org

I don’t. But they regularly open registration

Tiritibambix,

I have prowlarr linked to my sonarr and radarr, and I use nzb360 on my phone. When away from home, I’m using a VPN tunnel to my network so I basically download a movie or series a minute after somebody recommended it.

You should also try overseerr or the cool new Reiverr.

Tiritibambix,
@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

That’s quite an achievement. Congratulations and thank you for your work.

Are you still considering your options on “best time to post” feature ?
