Android’s compatibility has been a mess for all of time really but I feel like it’s gotten to a new low recently. It’s kind of crazy how many games or apps that are only a few years old won’t work on newer versions of Android anymore.

It’s good that they didn’t bother continuing the project, but I’m surprised it wasn’t canceled earlier. I’m a bit baffled that some people still use HDDs considering how cheap SSDs have gotten. You can get a 2TB M.2 for around $100. If you’ve got the specs for new games, there’s no excuse.

Titles like "This game mix [game] and [another game] to give a [appreciation words] challenge" are really getting that annoying?

To me, honestly, no much. I can see the SEO efforts: if you have to talk about a game called “suckass” probably… very few people will click on the title. But when they put [GTA] and [BALDUR’s GATE] for a generic fantasy game where you steal stuff, you can see the magazine publisher is that hungry for click....

I think it’s fine as long as it makes sense. “X meets Y” can summarize a whole selling pitch and readers will instantly know if they’re interested or not. At some point it even became genre names like “souls-like” or “metroidvania”, you instantly know what you’re in for.

You can’t explain a game in the post’s title so a ton of people won’t even bother looking at it if you don’t do this.

The problem is that it feels really disrespectful to the people winning awards. Sometimes they group awards together to “get them out of the way”. Most awards don’t even get speeches, they just say X won the award and instantly move on.

And when someone does win the award, everyone wants them to get off the stage because people are here for the trailers, not the actual game awards part. They give them maybe a minute before slowly ramping up the music (their cue for getting off the stage). The guy that won best performer for baldur’s gate 3 was speedrunning his speech and even then they played music over him at the end. They have zero respect for the game award part honestly.
