Average forefinger and thumb grasps about 1-1.5 servings of spaghetti. Pasta in general, any shape, 1 pound serves 4-6.

Honestly, i've always approached this question the reverse of how it's posed here. Pretty much every store brand whatever is just fine.
But, picking a few fancier versions of things as exceptions is nice sometimes.

Lately for me, Kingdom aged organic cheddar and Kerrygold butter have been my indulgences. I don't eat much dairy, so they last me a long time. They're loaded with flavor. And, it's just nice to have a few things that feel special.

If the teacher is going to basically plagarize the assignment and I've already done it elsewhere to the best of my ability, how the hell am I supposed to do anything other than resubmit the work I'd done for that assignment the first time?

That doesn't make sense to me. Even after reading the below referenced wikipedia section on self plagiarism, it seems a contested topic and kinda ridiculous.

One of these 2:

  • some leftover rice, reheated.
    or
  • a couple small potatoes, microwaved and then cut into cubes.

Mixed with one of these 3:

  • 1-2 packets cooked maggi masala ramen.
    or
  • a can of chili and microwave for another couple minutes.
    or
  • bagged madras lentils, similar to above.

I've lost barn owl boxes to big winds. Those iron poles sheared off at the threaded couplers they shipped with. The base was installed solid and hadn't moved, but the poles broke. Don't think they'd been occupied at the time, thankfully. Couldn't put them in a location sheltered by trees or buildings for fear of great horned owl predation.

Have been too depressed for too many decades. Lost the ability to enjoy music. Miss it, but anytime I try it feels contrived and I hear people from my past deriding my selections for various reasons.

How do I cope with my father hating me?

My father, who convinced me (16 m) at the time to move in with him instead of my mother when they moved. All 3 of the other siblings stayed with my mother. He then kicked me out the week I turned 18, a week into my senior year. Since then he stays in touch only to speak with his grandchildren (now going on 4 kids). I have never...

Stop letting him. You don't owe him even an explanation. The nicest thing you could do for him would be to let him figure it out with as much time as he needs to do so. He hasn't listened thus far or had any appreciable or effective consequences that gave pause to or caused change in his behaviors. I think you probably know this and are just looking for confirmation.

Take yourself and your family back. Why let someone like that be a further influence?

Well, yeah. One of them has flavor.

I'm starting to see some serious downsides to being able to see who downvotes you. (kbin.social)

A few days ago I downvoted someone's comment, and the next day I happened to notice every single comment I've ever made had at least one downvote. All from the person I dared to downvote the ONE time. I straight up asked why they did it, and they seem to think I'm an "obvious" troll account that "apparently just exist to...

I don't see an issue here.

  1. try to explain your downvotes, or, better yet, voice your disagreement and have a discussion without relying on downvotes to express yourself. Use your words.
  2. when you feel it necessary and that using your words isn't working, upvote/boost everyone but the person in question. Realize downvotes don't really do what you'd hoped and are a poor crutch and means of expression. Elevate what you do agree with. Worry less about what you don't.
  3. just don't care about internet points. As others have said and covered extensively.

Hopefully, what remains is that conversations are important. Having an outlet for undescribed/unformed/ambiguous disagreement/dissent really doesn't add anything to anything for anyone. Making a point or saying something correct is more valuable than shooting down those you find to be incorrect. And, ultimately, it's not just what you think that matters. The consensus of the group and the conversation that gets them there, the experience and the interchange and the community itself are all much more valuable than the destination of a single conversation.

Edit: (And, for the record, while I disagree with your assessment, I've boosted and upvoted your thread, because I think the conversations being had here are valuable and worth seeing by more people.)

It's important to self regulate and prosecute wrong doing of your own people, but justice requires accountability to your accusers, those wronged. Ideally, these work in concert.

Ya know what was a foundational part of the American dream? Pensions. Ya know which employers still offer them? Counties, states and the federal government.

Private companies exist solely to make the people at the top very rich based on the stolen value of employee labor while dumping catastrophic losses in the public sphere. That's capitalism in a nutshell.

You'd have to be unbelievably gullible, naive, traumatized AND brainwashed to be a diehard for a system like that. But, somehow they've managed it. A deluded nation of Amway top performers just one move away from making their own imaginary millions. All simping for the system.

I make a concentrated pot of assam black tea, chamomile, cinnamon, black pepper and cardamom on the stove every couple days. Keep it refrigerated, dilute it as needed and drink it from about 7am-2pm. The mix keeps me awake enough, but the chamomile takes the edge off and keeps me from getting anxious. The cinnamon, black pepper and cardamom help my stomach from getting mad about everything I eat and tastes good. Assam black tea has a maltier flavor I really like, much less tannic. Sometimes, I'll add fresh turmeric, ginger, citrus peel or other things.

Used to drink coffee, but it's just too harsh for me anymore. I really like tea.

uphillbothways,
@uphillbothways@kbin.social avatar

Little bit of both. I use whole herbs and loose tea. Half a cinnamon stick boiled well, first in the pot with pepper, makes about a pot the size that I use. Probably about a pint and a half, maybe two, with a strainer lid. Pour spout on the side. Fairly standard cooking pot.

Then, it's there when I want it.

Complexity gives the games depth which allows them to hold interest. You can try something, figure out how to play the game that way, and then go and start a new character to figure out how to play the game another utilizing the knowledge you've gained from prior experimentation.

Some of the inventory management can be annoying at times, but again it's an opportunity to employ knowledge as a means to identify the items that aren't particularly useful to one playstyle and could be useful under another set of abilities/attributes or some set of combinations allowed by the game.

A game that only has one right answer quickly becomes a boring precision button pushing simulator to people who prefer more complexity, variety and depth in their gaming experience.

Not that one preference or the other is inherently correct, but hopefully it can be understood that different people want different things from their games.

Why do most people refuse to accept that they are wrong

I have come across a lot’s of people like these. like 99% of them. Sometimes it makes me think twice if what i am saying is wrong? What’s wrong with them. Ego has been mentioned. Sunk cost fallacy plays a part. Combine those and people tend to over value the effort they've made to form their opinion, either through some form of information consumption or synthesis of known ideas/held opinions, while devaluing/doubting the existence other people's previous efforts. So, you often end up with two people who both think they're informed and assume the other person is just making up an opinion right now and failing to see their valuable insight.
