As a Christian most of the circles I’m around are pretty chill…no stone-cold fundamentalists. But I have been around people (and even had family members) who are 100% convinced that rock music is evil and will lead people to engage in witchcraft and draw pentagrams all over their home....
Though this reminds me that I remember getting my first skis. But don’t remember learning to ski in particular. Skis and snow has just always been there. I think I know where they are still today.

Do you know any of the friends’ parents? Maybe you can all gather some ideas together and have a more uniform policy on what’s banned and what might be fun alternatives.
Long story short, I have a desktop with Fedora, lovely, fast, sleek and surprisingly reliable for a near rolling distro (it failed me only once back around Fedora 34 or something where it nuked Grub). Tried to install on a 2012 i7 MacBook Air… what a slog!!! Surprisingly Ubuntu runs very smooth on it. I have been bothering all...
It’s unstable in the sense that it doesn’t stay the same for a long time. Stable is the release that will essentially stay the same until you install a different release.
Sid is the kid next door (Iirc) from Toy Story who would melt and mutilate toys for fun. He may have been a different kind of unstable.
When making a post on Lemmy, it automatically does searches for similar existing posts. On Reddit you often have the issue of people asking the same questions over and over, this feature should definitely help reduce that!
So it’s not a car ban and that’s the point. You’ll have to either make an exception, allow electric only traffic or something else. Many businesses also “need” access for disabled and elderly, so taxis also get a pass. Very few models let you reclaim any streets or parking. Cut down a little, maybe. And that’s good of course. But just saying “ban cars” is naïve.
Any sort of super strength without added toughness and motor control. You’d break your own body let alone everything around you pretty fast. Same for juggernaut movement. Or high jump type flight.
Being able to turn into metal/sand/water/bats/lettuce or whatever without additional magic would destroy the structure and state of your brain immediately.
UPDATE: I found this issue explaining the relicensing of rust game engine Bevy to MIT + Apache 2.0 dual. Tldr: A lot of rust projects are MIT/Apache 2.0 so using those licenses is good for interoperability and upstreaming. MIT is known and trusted and had great success in projects like Godot....
Mit is kind of the “I don’t care and I don’t want to think about it” license. I also suspect many will also just use the same license they see in other projects. So, if they’ve been using rust crates that are MIT, they’re more likely to pick that. But who knows.

Ianab, but I would say yes. Even more easily actually since they have weaker thermal regulation. The notable difference to so called warm blooded animals is that there isn’t a separate circulation to head and brain and the associated 4-chamber heart.
Maybe someone can confirm or refute or give better information on what exactly is hypothermia and how the effects would differ. I’m just reasoning based on elementary school biology.
I don’t nas, but I suggest a combination of offline drives, cloud services or remote hosts, and just ignoring data that is easy to recreate like builds and software installs.
The key is to keep the data organized in such a way that you know which parts deserve which strategy.

I really hope it would be a working one, not like xfs where your files may just disappear with no trace (never on Irix, never on any other fs) or like btrfs which may just suddenly go read only and be dead on reboot with no fsck and all data unreachable.
How hard is it to get the basics right? Doesn’t matter how much rice there is if it keeps blowing up.
Me too. I’ve run 30 years with ext and bsd filesystems with no failure. Many years with various UNIX native fs as well. But Linux xfs, reiserfs, btrfs all have resulted in catastrophic failure within a year on several machines. They’re permanently off my list, but I have some hope that someone will get a new fs right.
I was once accused of being a democrat. I think. The comment wasn’t very coherent and it was hard to figure out what it was trying to say. And I think it wasn’t even referring to the same comment it was a reply to. But there was a lot of feeling in it.
I’ve never even set a foot in the country. Never will with the current climate either.
On one hand it’s a risk that there would just be some terrible version that ruins all public things connected with the name, but on the other hand there could be something fantastic.
I guess sandman is already off the list. Haven’t seen the results though.
Another big risk in adaptations is that, like Peter Jackson’s Lott, it will make it very unlikely that someone else would come up and do it better after a big enough attempt.
It does take some time to get going and a few stories are pretty dense. But it’s also a good re-read, especially after reading some notes about the things you missed the first time around. There’s a crazy amount of detail and characters.
Is there a way to hide posts? I have slight arachnophobia and want to be able to hide posts when they contain spiders without having to block a community or a user.
Having an option that treats all posts like nsfw – click to view image – would work, right? That sounds like something I wouldn’t mind having on by default as well.

Well, I’ll be the first to say it’s not generally a pleasant or helpful sounding response. But it isn’t a useful post either and it seems the downvotes are supporting that.
Some site maybe being momentarily down just isn’t something you spam a public group of who knows how many people about. Also a useless post will stay and pollute the group history indefinitely and the volume of good content isn’t that big here yet either.
In case you actually care, you might look up what those terms really mean. It’s not always simple and takes some effort to understand your own nature. A lot of people don’t bother or care.
Otherwise the advice of not trying to label yourself too much is good.
