moistclump,

Can someone eli5 this premise again? It’s that we’re in the cave and our experiences are just projections? I can’t remember why that is or what the thesis was.

moistclump,

Ahh that sweet sweet dopamine. If you don’t have any handy, gamebought is fine.

moistclump,

Just the last sentence imo. The rest is debate and I’m not sure there’s a point laying out reasons and getting into it with her.

moistclump,

I wouldn’t mind if they killed giants, but unfortunately they’re killing humans.

moistclump,

And I’ll believe it when I see executives be punished personally for lying. If they are lying. Which hopefully they aren’t.

moistclump,

Can god be flattered? And in a more general sense… Can god be flattered?

Train manufacturer intentionally bricks trains serviced by independent service providers (social.hackerspace.pl)

Polish train manufacturer that lost servicing tender programmed train controller to brick itself after train stays for some time in 6 ISP facilities or in 1 their faculity(for testing?) until undocumented button combination is pressed. Some controller versions brick itself after train is idle for 10 days. After news about this...

moistclump,

What is “brick”?

moistclump,

For a second there I thought it was putting a brick on the track to derail the train.

moistclump,

No one said he was a good father.

moistclump,

I thought it said taking a shit during my shit. I thought it was a meta mega shit, while at work.

moistclump,

Meatballs are usually beef tho.

moistclump,

I had a similar situation with an employer. Went on mental health leave, came back to multiple brand-fucking new disciplinary actions, constant new barrage of changes, I disclosed my medical conditions and it got worse. Until I literally snapped. Couldn’t work, couldn’t function for 7 months after and I’m still not recovered.

And don’t get me started on what their messaging was about mental health.

Fuck all the talk, fuck not having room for humanity at work, fuck depression, and fuck bad things happening if someone’s brave enough to try and get help.

moistclump,

Hey guys, get a load of this hole.

moistclump,

Is badly drawn creatures a nod to poorly drawn lines?

moistclump,

Watching the terms of service instead of clicking constitutes a violation of the ad.

moistclump,

Yeh what’s with the teasing?

moistclump,

For real, this can be how bipolar shows up in someone’s finances.

moistclump,

You will do that and I can force you to!

moistclump,

Yes it does and yes I do!

moistclump,

Yes it does and yes I do!

moistclump,

Honest question. What kind of propaganda are you seeing on Lemmy? Nothing comes to mind.

I mostly see… Linux stuff. And I am not a computer person. Is that propaganda?

moistclump,

It’s not necessarily domestic abuse, like the other commenter said. But it does have a flavour of “haha women ammiright?”

It’s not just women who sulk. It’s okay to take space sometimes from an argument but communicate about that. If the relationship is worth it, address passive aggressiveness as it comes up. Both people in this meme are being passive aggressive.

Which obviously isn’t the same as domestic abuse so that’s, Yknow, a stretch.

moistclump,

“People don’t like dying.” Holy shit, if ever a phrase that shows we’re getting fucked cause we need groceries.

moistclump,

Me walking by the Canadian geese on my way to work.

moistclump,

I basically failed out of engineering. It turns out I care more about people and systems, so I have a job at a City doing something called Asset Management. Which means I coordinate all the different ways the different departments take care of their infrastructure, and plan for the City to keep doing what they do for 50, 100 years out.

It’s a bit of people, relationships, organization work, finance, engineering, operations, data analytics, planning, risk mitigation, public consultation, blah blah blah. I’ve moved up in the industry to the point where I’m helping other city’s do similar work.

moistclump,

I cannot imagine. The journalist. The farmer. The translators. The friends and family and communities. I’m just… so shocked and overwhelmed and a little lost about it all.

Finally cracked and it's been a rollercoaster.

Last week I got myself a tape measure, figured out some sizing things and ordered a cheap dress online. It looked good, and for the first time in my life I felt beautiful. I felt like I could actually pull of a transition and not look like an ugly man in a dress. I giggled and cried and it felt so good. The next day I went to...

moistclump,

Ahem. Canadian thanksgiving was a few weeks ago. We say not until after Halloween.

moistclump,

Also, Psychedelics, for me.

moistclump,

I’m sorry friend. It’s very, very hard. And rewarding. But hard.

moistclump,

I feel like jobs like these are passion jobs. Or employers feel like if it’s something you’re passionate about and care about, then you should be willing to do it for less.

For example, had a few friends work for the Canucks. I’m pretty sure the family who owns Canuck’s are billionaires, but because the people who work there are passionate about the sport and the team, they get away with below living wages for the privilege of just being around.

Obviously not the same, but… yeh. We under pay people who care and feel indebted to their clients and the work they love.

moistclump,

Ah good example! I’m hoping that unions help our game developer friends.

moistclump,

Normalize whatever this scene is. Hygge.

moistclump,

Vancouver Cancuks begs to differ. Still less problems than religion though.

Honestly anything in community or with people. Concerts, hobbies, helping, travelling. You don’t need religion to find and connect with tribe and humanity.

moistclump,

I like your friends gentle encouragements. Thanks for sharing!

moistclump,

Oh honey. You’re gonna learn lots real quick.
