Fucking click bait.

22cans would like to share important news regarding our games, Godus and Godus Wars. Regrettably, due to an upcoming technical change to Amazon Web Services, affecting our ability to serve necessary game files to new users, these titles are to be withdrawn from the Steam store. Please be assured that existing players can continue to enjoy these games without interruption.

Mac and cheese is another with significant variety in flavor between brands.

Yeah might take a bit for those apps to be patched

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

The app developers were warned like a month ago that this would be a breaking change, they had lots of time to release patches and there’s been a few large instances on the beta of 0.19 for well over a week.

IMHO It’s not really sensible for us to go test the apps and then hold back on upgrading just because one of the dozen apps isn’t compatible yet.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

This one should work now.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Pictrs wasn’t touched in the upgrade, try a different file format? Might be the png

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Let me know if you still have issues, but might take me a day or two to dig.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Try the different themes maybe?

Along with the YOLO up to the new version, comes new bugs!

github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/4288

0.19.1 hopefully coming soon.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Yeeeeep, done.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

“this” upgrade? 😁

Alt tabbed once too many times, clicked drop database, clicked yes. Realized what I’d done and panicked.

Deleted the user db for the east coast auth server for the game America’s Army: Operations. Thankfully it was the secondary so we just redid replication.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Yes, several instances offer this. Come to lemmy.ca and look in our sidebar for a few examples.

Kbin is a totally different app though.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Well that’s a thing trying to capitalize on my youth.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m intrigued and want to try them, but I worry the clicking noise would get annoying. I hold the deck a lot closer to my ears than my mouse usually is.

Welcome otter and mp3!

Quick update on the non profit work: this is going to be a priority for me while I’m off over the holiday. Expect an update in early /mid Jan with some more concrete details!

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Monitor people? What are you talking about?

Github 2fa uses TOTP and doesn’t require an app or phone number. They don’t get to “monitor people”.

This is a sensible security move and I support it fully. I guess I’m a government bot. Supply chain attacks are a real problem, this will help block them.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Or you could just enable 2fs so if your account gets compromised, the rest of the world isn’t cleaning up the malware included in the packages you own.

Shadow,

There’s a lot of home lab style people here who just haven’t run large corporate networks before, or had to deal with compromises.

How to intentionally get terminated from a job without sacrificing unemployment benefits?

My friend is a customer service rep who is ready to retire. Her company is talking about layoffs with 13+ weeks of severance, but when she asked (anonymously) if they were accepting volunteers, they said no. In case she’s not one of the ones told to clean out her desk, what are the ways she could get terminated while...

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Ask for a raise. Tell them there’s no retirement plans because of inflation now, and she can see herself staying there another 10 years.

They might not lay her off because they know she’ll retire soon anyways. Increase her cost of employment so it’s no longer cost effective to just wait it out.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Yep. Seems like any nice pots get stupid expensive fast though.

These are pretty big pots. Like 14" or something.

how similar are other North American countries to USA??

I mean the other 2 countries, Canada and Mexico, how similar are both of them to United States?? Both countries have a similar economy and democracy etc, and I think those two countries share things like supermarkets, stores, etc. I suppose the cultural differences are not a lot, that is very nice.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

You know Oklahoma doesn’t border Canada right?

Shadow,

The click bait title is talking about Against the Storm.

I came to hate on the article for the click bait, but it’s actually a great game.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

I’d call it the first 1 - 2 hours of SimCity then you move onto the next one. Or maybe the fist bit of starcraft before you get into combat.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Good timing, I was planning to make a thread today to poll public opinion. Yes, I’m in complete agreement. I don’t see anyone here with a solid counterargument either.

Even when 0.19 is out I think these bots are a bad idea. The new users who are most likely to be confused by them, are also the least likely to figure out how to block an instance.

I’ve defederated us from them for now.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Agreed. Although I’m not a user of the sales bot, I think it provides value for others.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

What the fuck. She needs to be disbarred.

Shadow,

Bottom watering and a layer of d. earth on top was the only thing that solved it for me.

Finding room for carry-on baggage has become 'the Hunger Games' of air travel, analyst says (www.cbc.ca)

Airline industry insiders say passengers have become carried away with carry-on baggage, leading to costly delays. That’s prompting calls for changes to how airplanes charge for baggage, with some discount airlines like Sunwing and Spirit already beginning to flip the fee structure so passengers pay for the privilege of...

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

If I could track my bag from check in to pick up through the airlines own app, they would have my business. Also if I didn’t have to wait up to an hour to get it.

For now I’ll stick to travelling light with carry on.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Seconding what smorks said for now!

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Truckbc hasn’t been able to push it forwards lately due to some life stuff. I’ll see if I can get it moving again.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Honestly the image looked great until I uploaded it, then it was just too much detail in too small of a space.

Still open to suggestions for a new logo, I just thought sticking with the existing one looked a lot better!

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

As someone who used to have an old windows mobile phone with a sliding out keyboard - yes please. I want to see more stuff like this.

Shadow,

You skipped the first word, which gave important context. If you just look at the current top meaning of each word and ignore the context, yeah you’re gonna have a hard time.

When it says “B.C. Stream” is definitely implies a physical stream

Does that matter?

Latency between the coasts is like 50ms. You’re probably not going to notice that.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ve been coming across these for months, so they’re as good as their marketing makes them out to be?

Do you find you need to adjust it because it’s too hot/cold at different points in the night?

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Do you have their sheet? Would you consider that necessary? (some reviews say so)

Shadow,

Thanks!

Question to those not in the USA, and who have lived outside the USA.

I’ve been thinking about something and want to check an assumption I have. I only hear directly from other people in the USA, and interract with the global community through memes. How are the gun regulations/laws different from yours in terms of strictness, and do you wish there was more or less where you live?...

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

I used to have a license, they called multiple friends and my employer. The RCMP does a background check and they keep doing it, if anything new pops up they can pay you a visit.

It all felt pretty reasonable to me tbh.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Maybe this could be a good end of year thing?

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Sounds good to me. Yeah I’d probably do google forms too.
