I’d love admin tools too.

They’ll be targeting ibs sufferers in their marketing.

Yes, most admins are in a matrix chat.

Are you sending email from your ip?

If not this is irrelevant. Those block lists are only for email related spam filtering.

If you are, don’t send email from a home isp

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Blacklists are not your problem.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Do you have a different firewall/router you can try? Even just plug your PC directly into the modem for now to bypass your router and rule that out.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Replied in another part of this thread, but basically those blacklists are specific to SMTP and you can just disregard them. They’re not related to any sort of network/routing issue you’re seeing.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Your ISP may block 80 / 443. Try moving your webserver to an alternate high port and ask the users to test with that.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

At this point I’d install wireshark and see if I’m getting their TCP connections at all.

Given your other routing issues though, I would guess you have another config issue on your firewall.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

From a guy point of view, I think this is pretty accurate.

If they don’t put any effort into the conversation, I move on right away.

I’ve become a lot more picky with my likes, and it’s worked out better. If their only passions are beer and going to the gym, move on. I only swipe right if they’re actually interesting and have something useful in their profile to talk about.

Use the report function if it’s clearly against the rules. Open a thread here if it’s worth discussing.

You can also dm one of directly if it’s more sensitive.

Not compared to the tech industry

Image seems to override a URL (lemmy.ca)

I attempted to create a post that highlighted a URL. I saw the option to add an image, so I did. But, the post ended up linking to the image rather than the URL. Yet, the URL designation comes before the image designation (note included image), so my assumption was that a URL would be given priority over an image. However, that...

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

When you upload the image, it puts the url to the image into the url box. You didn’t notice it swapping it.

There’s no actual image added to the post, it’s just taking care of uploading it and putting the url in for you.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

I think you misunderstood me.

An image in lemmy is just a url to the image. You can’t supply a url and also have an image, the same as reddit.

Reddit url previews were generated by them and not supported by lemmy at this time.

You consider reading the article. It wasnt Malaysia air, it was a private jet in Malaysia. Only 8 people on board thankfully.

TIL contrails are a legitimate concern and have environmental impact!

If adding some analytics adds 5s to the load time, then they need to fire their developers.

There’s no way this is accidental.

My coworkers make fun of me when I share my zoom screen and my cursor is big and bright green. I never lose my mouse cursor though.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

I have 3 high res monitors and the middle is an ultra wide, so there’s quite a bit of area to scan for what is normally a tiny cursor.

Odd. Here’s their side of it: hexbear.net/comment/3708345

You’re not advocating for violence, so why would you be banned?

We don’t want to prevent reasonable discourse with opposing opinions, we just don’t want an army of trolls and (literal) shit posters overwhelming everyone else.

Shadow,

He’s edited his comment and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t that aggro when I read it last night, unless I was really that tired.

Lemmy.ca meets your requirements, and you don’t need to be Canadian to join. We welcome all!

This is a windows bug. Are you still on win10? It’s fixed in 11.

Shadow,

Install github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/ and then it’s better than windows 10.

Shadow,

I might be biased, but lemmy.ca is pretty great.

Open source devs: please, please add screenshots...

I beg you, if you are a developer of an open source app or program - add screenshots of your app to the README file. When looking for the perfect app, I had to install dozens of them just to see what the user interface looked like and whether it suits me. This will allow users to decide if the app they choose will suit them…...

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Foreplay is important! Gotta get me excited for that app.

Non-Profit Registration: Name suggestions.

It’s been on the back-burner for a bit but it’s time that I get on it and register our operation as a on-profit organization. We will be registering under the BC Societies Act. Completing this registration will allow for opening up a bank account under the organization’s name and reopen donations and have the previously...

There’s been some interest in things like a matrix server, so it’d be good to leave us options for more.

Turns out only a few thousand were made and its pretty awesome.

Yep, it’s also that faded yellow of old computers. I’ve been thinking about trying the hydrogen peroxide trick to clean it up.

The best part is it also works on DMs, so it’s trivial to get any persons IP address. Want an admins IP address? Just DM them a message with an embedded spy pixel.

I emailed the lemmy developers about this a few weeks ago since IMHO it’s a pretty big security issue, no reply.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Ahh good point, forgot you would need their token. Yeah there’s no way to do this securely then :(

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Wasn’t paywalled for me. Wired allows a certain number of views per month so it’s not always obvious you’re posting something paywalled.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Sounds like it’s in the backend but not the UI yet according to github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/878

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Supposed to!

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Just to correct the people who say they can’t see your password - this is only true if they’re running a stock copy of lemmy, which hashes passwords in the database.

They’re free to modify their instance however they want, including storing unencrypted passwords or emailing your password on registration to a bot farm.

Always use a unique password for every site you use.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

Yes but if I was a dick, I’d just harvest their passwords silently and then try them on other websites.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

I mean the sticker has a peel up icon on the corner. They’re obviously not trying to hide this, they’re just pushing the user towards wifi.

Also a custom firmware bound by serial number ranges would be even cheaper than the sticker. Logic doesn’t hold up

All the costume design has also been top notch. I really like the little details on the uniforms, like the different patterns based on the staff specialty.

One liner to get into postgres:

<span style="color:#323232;">docker exec -it lemmyca_postgres_1 psql -U lemmy
</span>

Show only the instances not updated in past 3 days:

<span style="color:#323232;"> select * from instance where updated &lt; current_date-3;
</span>

Fix those old rows:

<span style="color:#323232;">update instance set updated = current_date where updated &lt; current_date - 3;
</span>

No you don’t understand correctly. You login to your lemmy account to get a code so you can login to canvas.
