There was that old Voyager fps, Elite Force, that kicked ass.
I put a stupid amount of hours into Starfleet Command. Probably my all time favorite. I’m the kind of person who geeks out on power and shield management.
I played a lot of Sins of a Solar Empire and I mention that because there was a cool Star Trek mod for that game I played for a bit.
Lastly, I played STO for a couple years. Loved the story and space combat but man the ground missions a slog. Still I enjoyed that game a bunch.
I feel like I’m missing something but I can’t think of any more.
Had this happen 2 times already and increasing the max memory seemed to fix it. Does lemmy need that much ressources or am I doing something wrong? I’m on the latest stable version
From the article: “In some ways, the current situation has spurred an arms race. YouTube has inadvertently improved ad blockers, as the new knowledge and techniques gained from innovating within the YouTube platform are also applicable to other ad and tracking systems.”
Pretty much the subject line. uBO has successfully blocked the nag screen enough times that I can’t play anything at this point. No preview loads, and the play button serves no function. I’d really prefer not to have to find content on YT, copy the URL and use Piped/Invidious, but this ongoing escalation is steeling my...
Probably a boring answer but I know my grandmother’s credit card information. I live with and help take care of her, so she doesn’t mind sharing it with me. Not like I’m planning to do anything nefarious, but I guess technically it could ruin her financially.
This is a passive aggressive and shitty thing to do.
Not wanting your kids to be moved overseas and only see them half the year is a normal reaction. Most teenagers are mature enough to see through the veil that mom is the reason they can’t go but not mature enough to truly understand why. They’d blame her regardless.

I’ve always been curious, because I’m not fond of underwear, but I don’t know how people make it work. Wouldn’t you have to wash the trousers every single day? How else would you keep them fresh? Do you use special deodorant for the area or panty liners on the trousers?...

Do you use any web ui’s for your Linux server? I’m comfortable managing my server using the command line, but I also want a graphical interface that shows an overview of what is running on the server, the way the resources are being used what containers are running and so on. Also file download uploads would be great to...
If you don’t mind the UI out of the 90s webmin probably is the most comprehensive solution. I haven’t used it in a few years, does it handle containers?
Wait, wait, wait. If you want something publicly accessible most of the solutions in this thread would be a Bad Idea™️. Don’t expose anything that could possibly make changes to the system to the Internet.
Took a break this week from Starfield. I fired up Beneath Oresa to find out it was out of EA and had a bunch of changes. So what was meant to be a one off time killer turned into the thing I was playing this week.
But I don’t want to own it. I don’t want to amass a collection of CDs taking up space somewhere. Been there, done that. I have a large collection of ripped mp3s from CDs I bought in the 90s and early 2000s (I’ve long since disposed of the physical media). I haven’t clicked on a single one of them in years, I just keep them for nostalgia sake and because they take relatively little space.
I just occasionally want to listen to music sans commercials or annoying DJs wasting my time. For the cost of 1 CD a month my entire family can listen to almost anything they desire, at any time, without hassles (on Pandora in our case but I assume the economics are similar).
Same thing with movies, honestly. I watch them once and move on. There’s a small handful I like enough to rewatch and I do own those.
I get the whole, we don’t own anything anymore, argument and I mostly agree with it (see my massive Steam library). I just want both options to be viable. Streaming for ephemeral entertainment and actual ownership for the things I choose to keep.
While I take your point you very much can buy a new car with cash.
It would be inefficient to game the system but it could be gamed. It would feel like petty larceny but I’d start with several maxed out Visa gift cards so I could make online purchases. Maybe money orders if that’s still a thing.
You’re comparing this guys runaway success with a company with several development teams, office spaces, marketing teams, accountants, probably janitors, security, etc, etc.
That’s sorta the point tho, isn’t it. Not saying Capcom should be one guy in a bedroom, but maybe there’s alot of bloat not related to actual game development that could be streamlined/cut. Esp. When it comes to executives.
I’m not sure where to start with to troubleshoot this. I segregated my network into a few different VLANs (servers, workstations, wifi, etc…). I have VMs and LxC containers running in Proxmox, routing is handled by Opnsense, and I have a couple tplink managed switches. All of this is working fine except for 1 problem....
Yeah, I did some packet captures this afternoon and realized that’s exactly what’s happening.
I want the VM to have multiple interfaces. I was just being lazy about connecting to it (wanted to use dns). The way I see it I have 3 options.
Connect via IP to the interface on the same subnet.
Separate A records for each IP. Feels like #1 with extra steps.
Overcomplicate things with bind views on my internal zone so it returns the best IP for the client.
I did also find something online about policy based routing on the VM. But, all of this reeks of me overcomplicating things when I could just use the IP the couple times a month I ssh to these boxes.
Hi. Since yesterday i selfhosted all my stuff with a raspberry pi and two odroids. As most people have said, typically a server is headless as it has less overhead. But it’s going to depend on your use-case and needs. If you have the spare ram/cpu/disk and want to put a GUI on every VM you can. In my case, most of my VMs are headless with a couple that have a GUI out of necessity.
I want to second using LxC. I recently discovered them and once I understood what it was. Most of my VMs could be LXCs and save me a bunch of overhead.
