Except not at all? I’ve not seen any climate predictions saying the surface of earth will be a denuded hellscape, but only civilization will be destroyed. Humans will not be wiped out, they’ll just be living way worse. Resources will be challenging but will exist. Many will die, but not all. Biological life will shift massively but will exist.
A grey mush turns us into a surface like mercury, completely and utterly consumed.
Even in the worst climate predictions modern presenting societies will live.
They compared the relationship between a thought (racism) and what they believe is a disparate group (French people), to a thought (racism) and a disparate species (dogs).
The key comparison is about the relationship between racism and a group.
They could have said anything for the second example.
Lots of people can’t even conceive of stepping on the dance floor. I find especially here on Lemmy, lots of folks are really introverted and not agreeable to “get out there and try” style challenges. Obviously not universal, but seems quite common here. Folks seem more apt to say “I have limitations that are immovable and that’s the end of it”. Gotta respect that life they are living, even if for folks like you or I we are motivated differently.
Unstructured practice is only one form of skill enhancement. Alone it is not usually an effective tool. That’s why coaches, books, training regiments exist for all sorts of things from sports to chess to games
apparently this is in response to a few threads on Reddit flaming Starfield—in general, it’s been rather interesting to see Bethesda take what i can only describe as a “try to debate Starfield to popularity” approach with the game’s skeptics in the past month or two. not entirely sure it’s a winning strategy,...
The national guard is normally used in disaster relief, like floods. But the Governor is like a tiny president, (sorta, kinda) and as such has some powers over the military force from their state (hand waving a lot here).
As such they can declare a protest or other interior event a “disaster” or public safety risk, and temporarily deploy national guard to support.
If I remember correctly, the guard have to abide by additional federal military rules, compared to state employees, so they are usually carefully used. and again I might be wrong but if the state deploys em, the state pays em,… Not the federal government
I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds
This tries to play on the idea that skynet is terrifyingly smart in some ways, but still deficient in others.
It doesn’t really “make sense” but it’s the whole reason there’s a chance of an “ongoing” conflict between humans and skynet. If skynet was as smart as it should be, humans would be long gone.
If you say derivative in a critique, you are obligated to say of what/who. Ideally provide an example link. A very bonus comment would also include why.
You’re on a public forum, leaving half formed thoughts for the rest of us. That’s all of our business. If you’re done, leave. If you disagree, disagree. but don’t act like you get to police my replies.
You used a trite, boring pedantic phrase with no backup, no reasoning. And having gone this far have made it clear you don’t know what you’re talking about, you clearly don’t know derivative of what
I’ve never seen it written that way, love to read, was an EMT, went to college, etc… Just saying I missed that somewhere and often saw hiccup, even in EMT educational textbooks.
They’ve been reported on, popularized in western film/media for 30+ years but that isn’t critical thinking. They just aren’t very “niche”.
You would use critical thinking to say " every other box is obviously a seal, so the first box, which I don’t know, is also a seal. I wonder how, because I don’t know much about military units, but am sure that’s the name “seal” goes with box 1 too". That’s critical thinking jimmy. Lemme know if you need help with your shoelaces or anything
This I return to my original: who says hiccough? I’m relatively well read and have some exposure to biology and medical professional context, and never saw it that way
as I’m sure you’re all aware, the sensational ‘owl of the year 2023’ competition is currently ongoing, and one of today’s second round matchups sees the gigantic snowy owl facing off against the titanic short eared owl (making them both seem normal sized - joke by D. Mitchell & R. Webb, 2004)...
