Windows 11. That OS that just got told they had to allow users to turn off ads (but only in Europe).
If you go into the “news” link, then go to the indigogo link, then get mad because they are putting all info into mages instead of text, then accept that they made that awful no-text choice, then scroll down almost all the way to the bottom, you’ll find the spec-sheet.
Sometimes you can get laptops with decent CPUs, but they only have onboard graphics
Sometimes you buy a system that physically can’t house the GPU you want, but the board/PSU is proprietary, so you can’t just change the tower/case.
Sometimes there are GPU heavy tasks that don’t really rely on CPU that much, and you are using a laptop.
But the vast majority of the time, sticking a new card in your desktop is the way to go.
Case design has come a long way, and I personally haven’t had an issue with case-temp since overclocking things in the early 2000’s,
But, if the desktop was built in a thin mini-ITX case, I could see case-temp being an issue, but I think you would most likely also being running into “can’t physically fit into the system” issue.

I have the opportunity to go to a SA concert next year but I'm old and Grey. I don't want go if im the ceeepy old guy. Thoughts? I do know and enjoy a bit of his misic.
I recently switched to Linux. First I tried Pop_OS, and am now on Nobara. On both systems I have this issue, that when I open a YouTube video in a new tab, and immediately start fullscreen, it doesn’t properly do it....
I have never had this issue before, but you should include which browser you are using and how it was installed. In my experience, “flatpack” browsers sometimes act weird, and installing them the traditional way resolved the issue.
Every time a new army book is released, they reset which models are in the game, and how those models are. Some armies get drastic changes which basically makes you buy, and paint, all new models. The rules regarding how painted your minis needed to be in order to participate in official Games Workshop events changed, but if you actually paint your models it’s not really an issue.
Also, if you played a foot-heavy army in 40k, the 2" of 2 different model rules changed the way things moved significantly.
Warhammer (aka Fantasy) stopped existing, and was replaced by AoS in the 2010’s. So if you played fantasy and not AoS, it would be a huge change.
AoS (Age of Sigmar) is still fantasy in genre, it replaced WHFB (Warhammer Fantasy Battle) which GW killed off. The rulesets (and available armies) are very different. The easiest change you can see even in pictures is the round bases, and no movement trays.
They may claim otherwise, but it was money.
I liked AoS more than WHFB, but it was definitely money.
Even if it wasn’t to sell all new models (which they do with every new army book that comes out), they changed the names of generic races to things that they can trademark. Elf turned into “aelf”, dwarves turned into “duardin”, lizardmen turned into “seraphon”, etc.
2SLGBTQIA+ community leaders are denouncing the Conservative leader’s speech accusing Justin Trudeau of imposing “radical gender ideology” on children.
This is not me attacking you in any way, I do not think that you mean anything by leaving off the T a couple time in your post.
But just so you know, there are groups that specifically leave off the T because they hate trans people; The LGB alliance is a group that have claimed that accepting transpeople is homophobic. I’ve seen them make claims that there is an agenda to make same sex attracted individuals transition, just so that they are not homosexual anymore.

The issue isn’t that living in Edwin or Newton in Manitoba is based around driving a car, it’s that life in Winnipeg, Manitoba is still based around driving a car. The problem is that car culture is still what cities are built around.
I haven’t bought a Ubisoft title since Uplay became a thing, but my husband bought Farcry 6 2 years ago.
Looking at the titles that they have put out, I have come to realize that my stance on Uplay isn’t even the main thing keeping me from buying a Ubisoft game; it’s the lack of titles that are of interest in several years.
I know it’s hard to believe, but I have lived without Assassin’s Creed #14, Another Monopoly videogame, and Just Dance #15.
I recently learned that most of the aps people use for lemmy don’t do formatting correctly. The thesewords look like they have a strike through on whichever ap you are using, let the developer know that ~word~ should be subscript, and that ~~word~~ is strike through.
The hype-based scam convention was run by negligent people, who cared more about being literally flashy than the safety/wellbeing of those around them.
This is stupid, but that’s an awful title. It’s not $90 for early access.
Base edition ($50.00USD):
-the expansions
-a level 70 character
-500 “trader’s tender”
Epic edition ($90.00 USD):
-the expansions
-a level 70 character
-1000 “trader’s tender”
-a flying mount
-a transmorg/cosmetic set
-beta for the war within (does not save progress on the real servers)
-3 days early access to release of War within
-30 days of game time
-an in-game pet
-an in-game toy
-a hearthstone effect.
So it does cost $40 more for the bundle that contains those three days, but it also includes $15.00 worth of subscription-time, and a lot of other micro-transactions. Those microtransactions could be considered either completely worthless, or they could be considered to be worth more than $25.00 USD
The missing part of the story involves him stocking a local woman, and writing erotic fiction about how he was going to murder her and taking over her life.
Also posting of pictures of children to porn sites.
With 66% on Steam, this is the publisher’s highest rated game on Steam in 2023. I do not think it’s worth it at 15% off, it might be worth it at 85% off.
They only put out shovelware tied to movies and tv shows. They even just re-skin their own games, so they can sell them for different franchises. This isn’t their first “meh” mariokart ripoff.

If you do plan on doing this, make sure you define any terms. With a question like Urban v. Rural, people might have significantly different definitions of both words. Even things like “city” have different definitions depending on what province you are in.
The People’s Party (I know, kinda cheating) Platform is pretty easy to tell which party it is. It’s pro conversion therapy(shock treatments, “pray the gay away” camps/prisons), including on children, and anti-trans. It even name-drops Jordan Peterson.
Remove the ban imposed by Bill C-4, the so-called “conversion therapy bill”
Repeal Bill C-16, the bill that added gender self-identification as ground for protection against discrimination.
That’s pretty easy to spot and avoid.
The cons say that they don’t believe that Canada should have a carbon tax, or a carbon cap as a national policy as #31 of their Policy Declaration.
That’s also pretty easy to avoid.
I could see someone looking the NDP and LIb platforms and not being able to tell which is which, though they could pretty easily figure out that they are not right-wing.
Native support for Windows only, some Steam comments say that it’s kicking Linux-users, and tonnes of complaints saying that the game runs poorly or crashes even with Windows on enthusiast hardware.
In addition to hiking prices and shrinking product sizes, some food companies have also been quietly downgrading ingredients to reduce manufacturing costs in a process known as 'skimpflation.'
Some of it is because of Nutritional Information panels, but I agree that most of it is just greed.
I saw a box of candies that was under 100g that as I child I would traditionally have eaten as a snack. The “suggested serving” size was significantly smaller than the box size in order to keep the “calories per serving” low. In order to keep us the ruse, the box is now called “a sharing box” and it said something like “Share with 6 friends!”.
So, most of this is to be greedy, but some of it is to be deceitful.
I don’t really understand why this is such a big thing.
The minimum requirements:
CPU: Intel i5-7600K or AMD equivalent - 6-year-old processor that wasn’t top of the line at the time.
GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600, 6GB VRAM - 5-year-old GPU
RAM: 16GB - That’s been standard for a couple of years
Storage: 90GB SSD - Most AAA games are over 100GB now
This isn’t nothing, but needing to have a computer worth $800+ (CAD) to play a new AAA has been the way things have been for more than a decade. A common trick is to buy an OptiPlex computer from NewEgg for under $400.00, and add a graphics card (you need to look up what the power supply can handle, so this can be a bit of research). Some of them even come with Windows at that price, if you haven’t made the switch to Linux yet.
That two charts have nothing to do with each other.
The first is (English or French) + (any language that is not English or French).
The second is English + French.
As someone who did french immersion the whole way through, I can say it was honestly a waste of effort for me despite being completely fluent. Unless you live somewhere that French is used, it’s not really a common language. I mostly use it to laugh at poorly translated documents, or I can grab the French instructions of a new board game while someone else can read the English.
If you want to learn another language in the same group as English, learn Spanish.
If you just want to learn another language, look at where people in your area are from and learn one of those. Urdu, Tagalog, or Arabic might be a better choice.

Everybody? No. Most people on earth do not care.
Also, It’s an Epic Game Store Exclusive, so I’m not buying it.

GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600, 6GB VRAM - 5 year old GPU

Not sure why this is was down-voted.
I don’t agree with some points on the list, but if you need propriety software for your job, Linux may not be the easiest choice.
