AceFuzzLord,

I hope if the law passes, that the Linux Foundation immediately would jump on putting a patent on Linux/whatever else needed just to keep those pesky patent mongoloids from trying to kill Linux. Assuming that Linux would become patentable.

AceFuzzLord,

Whelp it’s all humans being generated, so I’m safe. Realistic enough looking humans ain’t my jam.

AceFuzzLord,

Yo, if they ditched the headphone jack, that’s wack.

AceFuzzLord,

If you are already using Linux, probably a pretty low percentage. Though I assume the older people who’s children or grandchildren changed the OS on their PC/laptop to a distro that tries to mimic windows would find it complex.

AceFuzzLord,

I’m about a half decade away from there and I agree. I personally absolutely refuse to stoop down to their level because I believe it’s just really dumb.

AceFuzzLord,

Don’t know if it’s because of some of the illegal sites/software I’ve downloaded, but I’ve been getting occasional emails for sex with Ukrainian women and just sex emails in general for a while. And yes I fall under the gen z category despite calling myself a millennial.

AceFuzzLord,

Can’t say since I’ve never got these type of spam email before.

AceFuzzLord,

As great as all these open source gmaps alternatives are, I always end up having trouble getting directions on which bus I need to take to get somewhere. Both OsmAnd~ and this don’t have bus route information for my city, which sucks. Otherwise, they work just fine.

AceFuzzLord,

I recently got it and either I absolutely suck at it or it’s a lot harder than it looks. Probably both, but it’s pretty fun for the most part (if we’re including my win record of zero).

AceFuzzLord,

I recently got STS and either I absolutely suck at it or it’s a lot harder than it looks. Probably both, but it’s pretty fun for the most part (if we’re including my win record of zero).

Mozilla campaign: Good news and bad news (foundation.mozilla.org)

Below is the full-text of a Mozilla campaign email I received. Mozilla's consumer buyer's guide Privacy not included reviews apps and consumer electronics to help the general public choose products that better respect their privacy, and occasionally organizes petitions & campaigns to push for privacy regulation and...

AceFuzzLord,

If we are talking major software making companies/groups, then I’ll happily agree pretty much 100% with that statement because there are definitely plenty of small groups following their footsteps in one way or another.

AceFuzzLord,

Considering I almost never eat breakfast in the first place, not eating breakfast would not be a major change in my life at all. Hell, it’s not even a financial problem causing me to skip breakfast. It’s just that I don’t like it.

AceFuzzLord,

I don’t know exactly what’s gonna be happening on there, but I will say I am satisfied with their service.

AceFuzzLord,

Only reason I ever use my gmail is because they are tied to my phone and some of the games on my phone, otherwise I wouldn’t be using them.

AceFuzzLord,

As much as I don’t like gøøgl€, on the phone front, it’s the lesser of the two evils I can choose from currently. I probably won’t be able to outright buy my next phone before getting service and slap on a custom ROM, so I’d rather deal with the devil I know over appl€.

AceFuzzLord,

There definitely are options, but I’m just not sure I’ll be able to outright purchase a phone and flash a ROM like grapheneos on it. I feel as though at this point I’ll probably have to end up just upgrading through my carrier and I don’t know if they even allow you to root or flash phones from them without terminating service.

AceFuzzLord,

So, would using a monitor and a phone screen be lawful neutral too? Because that’s what I usually do if I need to look up things for whatever I’m doing and don’t want to boot up my desktop web browser.

AceFuzzLord,

For the average person like me, having something like an antivirus is better than not on Linux. Especially since I tend to download various things outside of the default repository (i.e. Ankama Launcher which I’ve only ever seen as a appimage).

Though your advice is good, I couldn’t go through with it without wanting to rip my hair out.

AceFuzzLord,

If I wasn’t comfortable with Jerboa, I’d at least see what Voyager is like.

AceFuzzLord,

It’d be a hell of a lot better if I could put my apps on either an SD or microSD card. Hell, it’d be bliss if JoiPlay had the capability to load shit from my SD card to save space on my phone. The pokemon fangames I really enjoy are by no means getting smaller.

AceFuzzLord,

I am an absolute idiot and have never noticed that setting before. Definitely might have to try it out.

Atheists, is there anything religious that sticks with you to this day?

I am Ganesh, an Indian atheist and I don’t eat beef. It’s not like that I have a religious reason to do that, but after all those years seeing cows as peaceful animals and playing and growing up with them in a village, I doubt if I ever will be able to eat beef. I wasn’t raised very religious, I didn’t go to temple...

AceFuzzLord,

Not 100% sure this answers the question, but here goes.

Closest I can say that stuck with me, as someone born in a Christian household would be the original Veggietales and how some of the messages have stuck with me. You take away the Christian aspect from some of the messages and you get messages that I think could still apply to a general audience.

  • Small people can do big things (Dave and the Giant Pickle)
  • Despite your differences, you can still be friendly with others (Are You My Neighbor)
  • You should forgive others (God Wants Me To Forgive Them!?!)

I may not follow them to a tee but I am at least somewhat trying.

AceFuzzLord,

I love sci-fi designs so much more when whatever technology they have is completely illogical and looks like something completely fictional.

I don’t want to see/read about futuristic vehicles that look like they took a modern vehicle and just gave it AI self-driving capabilities or planes that look like something you’d see made today.

Do you pirate? And do you justify pirating? i.e., what is your piracy philosophy?

Well, my friend, he’s kinda poor he can’t afford some books and some streaming services, so he pirates. He pirate books, audiobook and videos and other stuff. Sometimes he buys books he likes a lot out of loyalty to the author (yeah, I don’t understand it either), he likes to read physical books, but yeah, if he hates the...

AceFuzzLord,
  1. Yeah, sometimes.
  2. I justify it if it’s me getting free stuff from rich and greedy game dev companies, publishers, streaming services, large record companies, etcetera. They were never going to see my money anyways, so it’s not like they are losing any money (despite the fact they claim that they lose money from people who were never gonna buy their products in the first place).
  3. Again, they were never gonna see my money, so why should I care so long as I don’t get caught? Hell, even if piracy somehow became impossible, they’d still never see my money. With music, it’s more complicated since I usually just download songs off of YT to listen to on my phone or desktop.

Though, I will say that I will never buy into music streaming since I cannot say with certainty that whoever I’m listening to will get even a percent of a percent of a penny off me listening, while the service gets pretty much 100% of the profit and leaves the artists in the dust.

AceFuzzLord,

As much as I am not a huge fan of reboots in general for TV shows/movies/series/etcetera, I really want to see a reboot of Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron.

The meme definitely holds true, though.

Games consoles are infuriatingly exempt from California's otherwise important new right to repair bill (www.pcgamer.com)

California, the biggest state in the US when it comes to both population and the sheer volume of tech companies squeezed into its borders, has just passed the country's most extreme right to repair bill in the US (via Ars Technica). It's the third state to pass such a bill, but goes further than either Minnesota or New York in...

AceFuzzLord,

As much of a bummer as that is, I don’t think there has ever been any major cases of someone just replacing parts for their console and not selling it. What is a company like sintendo gonna do if you replace the screen on your switch with a 3rd party screen or open it up to replace any parts but don’t end up selling it?

AceFuzzLord,

If I could get either LibRedirect or Privacy Redirect in my Firefox based mobile browser I totally would. I’m just not 100% sure whether or not the feature from Firefox Beta allowing for using collections of desktop extensions- if the extension you want even works on mobile- has come to normal Firefox for android yet.

AceFuzzLord,

If I were the parent of that child, I would probably end up punishing that kid by making them clean up every single bit of it using only toothbrushes or something that would make it equally as hard to clean before grounding them for at the very least a week minimum for ruining the one place in the house I would consider sacred (as someone who likes to cook).

Though I would probably also end up going back and re-cleaning just to be sure it actually is clean afterwards. I couldn’t cook in good faith if I am not sure the kitchen is clean enough to cook in.

AceFuzzLord,

And despite some apple fanatics not caring about any of the announcements, they’ll most likely still end up buying the latest apple product the second they have the time and money.

AceFuzzLord,

Only time I go back is when I’m searching for something and cannot find what I’m looking for elsewhere. Despite leaving and deleting my account, I still find myself having to go back due to the inferiority of other resources and it sucks.

Thankfully I have never had to go to their actual website or the old(dot)reddit website either because I can still get access through northboots’ libreddit instance.

AceFuzzLord,

That party sounds like it would have been an amazing place to release mustard gas or chlorine gas while also locking in those people.

All jokes aside, fuck those parasitic people known as landlords.

AceFuzzLord,

Am I the only person who doesn’t like that clickety clack sound of mechanical keyboards?

AceFuzzLord,

Only thing I regret was deleting my account before Redact had a chance to do its’ work on my account.

What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

The thought came to mind after reading a recent post about Baldurs Gate 3 here but it reminded me of the Japense only PSX game Mizzurna Falls where if you don’t perform a certain action early in the game you are prevented from getting a true ending. While this might not be a traditional soft lock because you can still progress...

AceFuzzLord,

Don’t know if anyone has said it yet, but Fallout 3. There is a story quest where you have to ask a radio host named Three Dog information about your father and it’s a percentage based skill check that if you fail it, I don’t think you can progress (unless I am completely mistaken since it’s been more than a half decade since I last played).

To make matters even worse, even at a maximum 100 in speech, the skill check can still be failed. Again, not 100% sure whether or not the Three Dog skill check is even required or if you can just run to the right place to progress the main story, but if you are a first time player you could absolutely screw yourself over not knowing about this.

AceFuzzLord,

I don’t know the scoop on whether or not it’s actually cancelled or if season 6 is in Max/Cartoon Network limbo or what is even going on with it, but I’m saying Summer Camp Island.

Beehaw on Lemmy: The long-term conundrum of staying here

Yesterday, you probably saw this informal post by one of our head admins (Chris Remington). This post lamented some of the difficulties we’re running into with the site at this point, and what the future might hold for us. This is a more formal post about those difficulties and the way we currently see things....

AceFuzzLord,

Whatever does end up happening to Beehaw, o7 (salute) to all the hardworking mods and those working to maintaining Beehaw.

AceFuzzLord,

My toaster of a desktop can easily run the game at pretty good framerates yet the game just sometimes decided to just crash like it’s nobody’s business.

Hell, it ran it just fine before getting an upgrade from 4gb to something like 16gb of ram, but the problem wasn’t performance issues. Instead it was random crashing. Mods completely fixed that issue.

New Vegas is a pretty good game, but I wouldn’t wanna play it unmodded because I don’t wanna deal with random crashes.

AceFuzzLord,

I personally believe couch co-op is so much better than online, so I hope it does. My biggest gripe with online co-op is that there will be times when your Internet can drop, or your game/voice chat program might decide to crash on you, or something equally as annoying like your friend (or you) lagging up a storm and making it hard to play.

At least with couch co-op I can be more sure that I ain’t gonna have any of those problems causing as much issues (besides the game crashing). And I also get the enjoyment of being in the same room with a friend.

AceFuzzLord,

That’s cool but looks like an absolute disaster to play with a smartphone keyboard. Or even just the buttons they give.

AceFuzzLord,

Imagine forcing the good mods that actually wanted to keep r*ddit from turning into a shit show to leave by getting rid of their 3rd party mod tools and expecting the replacements not to ruin everything.

AceFuzzLord,

If the whole subreddit about saving 3rd party clients was to be believed, the first-party mod tools were pretty much useless, especially for those who are sight impaired. Though I can’t say for sure since I was never a mod and my memory of that subreddit is a bit fuzzy.

AceFuzzLord,

Definitely the bottom for me. All I care about is that it runs, can run whatever I want it to, and for games has more of a stable framerate. Looks definitely come second to functionality, if you ask me.

AceFuzzLord,

Wait, y’all use a mousepad? /s

I don’t since I don’t even have a mousepad at the moment.

AceFuzzLord,

God, I hate the whole thing of everyone getting a participation trophy and everyone being a winner. I was never a fan as a child and that hasn’t changed one bit.

Are Internet boards and Forums dead

i started using the internet in the late 2000’s and still remember when you search for something most of the times it would return with a forum post … now its just random websites … if you ever need real and concise answer you have to add site:reddit.com at every search and since discord or twitter are not crawlable by...

AceFuzzLord,

Depends on the subject, though they are definitely nowhere near as popular nor used anywhere near as much as in the past. Niche groups can probably be found, but I wouldn’t know too much about where to look since I usually don’t go to them.

Closest I go to is Steam Underground and that is just for certain files.

AceFuzzLord,

Don’t know if it’s me or what, but I clicked on the first link and when it opened in my mobile browser, everything started shaking vertically like the page was suffering an earthquake. I’ll definitely have to look into that because I’ve never seen it happen before on any website like it.

AceFuzzLord,

Reminds me of those Big Daddy suits from BioShock.

AceFuzzLord,

Staged or not, it’s still pretty metal.
