I have had a tendency since my earliest days on social media where I will get halfway or more through a response, and end up just cancelling it. Sometimes I feel like I’m just being to over the top with snark or otherwise don’t want to be that kind of person, but a lot of the time I’ll decide I just really don’t care...
Hahaha I saw this after bailing on another post. Like 80% of the time I think better of it. My comments tend to actually get posted when I’m in bed half asleep. Apparently I’m more willing to share when I’m mentally impaired from tiredness
Look, we all know about the back pain and chair sitting. But now that I’m old and have back pain this pose he’s doing here TOTALLY screams, “My back is fucked, the second this take is over I’m going to lean forward to complete the stretch.”
Depends. I think I could survive long enough to succumb to the parasites and bacteria in whatever drinking water source I had to use. My fat stores would keep me going for a good while but I’d be too weak to forage. I can’t trap for shit so I’d be on an all bug diet unless there are fish and crawdads.
Yeah for sure the parasites and bacteria would take me out within a month.
This is in the middle of the woods in winter with no resources (maybe a knife). A change to those conditions extends me out a month or two.
On a related note there’s a scene in this movie after Enrico’s character learns the truth and laments, “But why?” Like, I love Enrico so I’m biased but it was hauntingly well performed. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a character more heart broken in a comedy.
4 windows with 36 tabs on my desktop, 29 tabs on my phone browser. In my defense I’m shopping for a pillow and need to compare and find something that will work. It’s not going well because it is nearly impossible to find anything that isn’t cheap Chinese shit nowadays. Even the expensive “top brand” products not ordered from Amazon end up being low quality crap.
My feet don’t touch the ground on chair height toilets. I don’t know about you but it is very uncomfortable to try and use it while your feet are dangling. To solve this I’ve repurposed a single step stool that lives in the restroom at home.
For most other things I have a thing-grabber, tongs, and a tall person I can summon by pathetically crying out “tall person!”
For me, it’s jingle all the way. It’s got everything. A drunk reindeer. A terrorist mailman. Arnold punching a deer. Arnold punching Sinbad. Arnold punching Santa. Arnold in general....
And the sound engineer people (not sure if that’s their official title) are* suuuuper condescending about it. “Well it’s your fault for not having a professional setup mixed the same as a theater.”
Edit: *Fixed a typo.
Thanks for the replies people, I’m learning a lot! I think another commenter referenced the same article I’m half-remembering (as you do) where some professional audio people commented on this issue. They said movies are designed for the theater and nothing else with no intention/interest in fixing it. IIRC (and I probably don’t) this is likely due to directors or studios not wanting to pay for a home version or having a specific vision they would rather not compromise. Even though the effect of not compromising is…well, the posted comic.
What? I’m already blocking them? Oh, I’m using Connect on mobile. It’s nice because if someone comments on a post and you’ve blocked their home instance (like lemmynsfw for example) it will give you the option to view the comment or just breeze on by.
Out of curiosity where did you see them? Was it at Climate Pledge Arena? We went to a concert there not too long ago and the new seats were just awful. They really jammed as many as possible in during the remodel.
Like, my friend who is the average size of a fit 35 yr old was pretty much squished and uncomfortable. I mean, I’m pretty sure I had bigger seats in elementary school and these weren’t the cheap seats either! Not the Cadillac premium seats, no, but not far off.
We were in the back row of the section (in front of the tables) so we ended up standing most of the time because the seats were too frickin small to be even remotely comfortable. The people behind us were cool with it.
It could explain why the dudes in your experience didn’t sit, but I agree it is rude to stand in front of someone sitting, ESPECIALLY if you’re at the front of a section.
Thanks for replying. I’ve heard that the seats seemed normal from others, and people who experienced what we did. I suspect the seat widths are variable in different sections and appreciate you adding data to the hypothesis. :)
Recently I’ve been catching up on tv and some of the more mature/adult shows, which I’ve been…Enjoying? Seems like the wrong word, but they’ve all generally been cynical or dark....
To be honest I was lazy at my old place and just used a wet Swiffer. I feel bad about it because I know that ain’t clean.
Previously I used pine sol and hot water, or just dish soap and hot water on linoleum floors. Growing up we didn’t have a mop so we just used rags and scrubbed by hand.
Why YSK: It’s a really cool challenge where each day people post their map interpretations of the theme of the day (points, lines, etc. - see graphic). You can learn a lot and see cool and unexpected data. The challenge is happening on all social media platforms, but I’m specifically mentioning Mastodon for obvious...
My sister is 23 and still dresses up and goes out knocking doors for candy… and I find it weird but I let her do her. It got me thinking, at what age do you think someone should stop Trick r Treating at? Just curious.
No age limit! I will give ANYONE candy, I don’t even care if you’re wearing a costume- but I really need you to say trick or treat. Opening my door and everyone just standing there silently is painful.
If you want to say anything to the celebrity you are interested in, I suggest an autograph. I once wanted to say 1 sentence to [famous actor] expressing how much their character meant to me during a photo op. I got out 3 words and was ushered off and the celebrity didn’t acknowledge me at all. It was heartbreaking because I didn’t expect anything other than a short $80 (!) moment of their time to tell them, briefly, that they impacted my life.
I’ve had way better luck with autographs and even got pictures staged with 2 people reacting to our cosplay for free. At the autograph table they’re more chatty and have fun with it in my experience.
John de Lancie loves roaming around the autograph lines and trolling people too.
That said, I stopped going to cons about 8 years or so ago due to some life reasons so this information is out of date and YMMV.
When I tried this the damn ad blocker message thing is unable to be closed and blacks out the whole video instead of being a pop-up. The only way to play is to disable ghostery and ublock. I’m super pissed.
Dude I’ve been watching Family Guy lately and think about that every episode. I hadn’t seen most of the seasons before and I keep thinking that one of these days they need to address it. Are they going to address it??
I think I watched it when it first aired but you’ve convinced me not to skip that one on my next re-watch. I think Aaron really matured as an actor along with his character and appreciate Nog’s arc.
Hey, just a little FYI but humans were in North America before the horse went extinct* so they likely did have some interaction with ancient cultures.
_* From what I gather there is heated debate as to whether the domesticated horse that was brought back to North America is truly non-native. I’m not a paleontologist nor phylogeneticist so I can’t speak to any of that.
