I’ve used Mint for many years. It has never worked well, its budgeting tools are inaccurate, and the UI is garbage. I guess you can say I’m not too broken up about this. I do very well with an Apple Numbers spreadsheet every month. That said, if there are other better options out there, I would consider them.
Same here. The Personal Capital tools are amazing. I really hope Empower doesn’t mess it up because I’ve put a ton of work into getting everything the way I want it.
I used to be able to switch apps by double pressing on the power button. With the latest one ui 5.0 update on my Samsung Watch4 this functionality is broken with the built in exercise app. I usually like to have it set so when I’m exercising I can double tap the button to open Spotify and then double tap to switch back to my...

So I’m scrolling through All New and on these memes I’m seeing comments saying stuff like “I see xyz company advertising on Lemmy” even though there’s little to no brand indication on the post. (Other that some kind of German meat + beans, but even then no brand came to mind for me)...
Screensharing has improved a lot over the last couple of years. Pipewire and XDG Desktop Portal are the tools you want to look into. You can run an in-browser test of screen sharing at mozilla.github.io/webrtc-landing/gum_test.html
I was wondering, with all the different Lemmy clients and frontends, what/which out of these do people actually use? To answer this, I made a poll if anyone wants to fill it out, and I tried to put every client I could find.
Same here. I used the paid version sync for reddit for years and got my money’s worth out of it. When the incident happened I switched to infinity and, while annoyed, I definitely felt I got my worth out of it. When ljdawson released sync for lemmy and added the ad-free upgrade I happily purchased it and I have been very satisfied with the app and all the improvements he is continually making. This is all coming from a hardcore open source 20+ years of Linux on the desktop guy.
A few years ago we were able to upgrade everything (OS and Apps) using a single command. I remember this was something we boasted about when talking to Windows and Mac fans. It was such an amazing feature. Something that users of proprietary systems hadn’t even heard about. We had this on desktops before things like Apple’s...
It really depends. I did long distance for years during college and we got a place together after college and have been happily together for a very long time now.
I almost left reddit years ago after one of their constant BS things but the API one was the last straw. They lost 4 relatively active accounts when I left. It has been great watching the communities on the fediverse grow.

I know someone that had a similar thing happen. The driver drove off the road and crashed into his yard, taking out a large rhododendron. The company insurance on the van was more than a year out of date and they were really fishy to deal with.

I swapped my 64GB out for a 1TB immediately after opening mine. Everything works…except the left shoulder button. It often doesn’t click when pressed and even when it does register in game as a button press, its very smushy feeling. A quick search online suggests its a very common problem....
Yes, they have to repair it under warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects you here (assuming you’re USA). I would definitely swap back your old drive unless they guarantee that you’re getting the same one back. If you send it in they may send you a different one that doesn’t have your drive in it.
Most of them are high end silicone toys from Bad Dragon and Mr Hankey’s toys and hold their value quite well. I purchased around 80% of them on the used market and can turn around and sell them for about the same amount so the depreciation hit is minimal.
My last three printers have been Brother and they have been great. They do still have chipped toner cartridges but I haven’t had any trouble with 3rd party toner. They also work fantastic on Linux.

Thanks for your recommendation. I’m giving Pika a whirl and I’m liking it so far. I have been using Timeshift for years but it’s has some issues that I’m hoping borg/pika will address.
Nice job! I have had the same unit for about 3 years now and I have been very happy with it. The amount of electricity it requires compared to a convention is a heck of a lot less. It also has the nice side effect of cooling and dehumidifying my garage during the summer time.

I used to have a watch with PAI built in and it was a great way to see how I’ve been doing over the last week. My current watch doesn’t support it and I almost didn’t get it because of that.
I’ve been using this application for years to manage my Galaxy Buds Pro on Linux and I have been very happy with it. I’ve also found that after switching to Pipewire that bluetooth devices work much better than they did with Pulseaudio.
I’ve recently decided to try and degoogle my life, or at least lessgoogle it. One app I use regularly is GoogleVoice. It works really well to keep my work and personal numbers separated. Also works reasonably well to keep my personal number clean from spam. What is out there that provides similar functionality?
