App switching not working for exercises on latest one ui 5.0 update

I used to be able to switch apps by double pressing on the power button. With the latest one ui 5.0 update on my Samsung Watch4 this functionality is broken with the built in exercise app. I usually like to have it set so when I’m exercising I can double tap the button to open Spotify and then double tap to switch back to my exercise screen quickly. I realize I can swipe from the right side and bring up the media controls but that doesn’t have the like button and I often want to save songs while I’m working out.

I have verified that if I have different apps open like Spotify and the timer app I can switch between them just fine, so it seems like the exercise screen is somehow excluded from the switching process.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this functionality back?
