CrimeDad,

I really hoped this wasn’t true.

CrimeDad,

The idea that kale is edible food.

CrimeDad,

I don’t get the appeal at all. Many other perfectly good leafy vegetables. Eating kale is like accidentally chewing on some flimsy decorative plastic that fell into your meal. No thanks.

CrimeDad,

Not joking. It turns out that kale actually was predominantly an alternative to decorative plastic before grifters started pitching it as a “super food”.

CrimeDad,

Did the IDF not murder this guy?

CrimeDad,

If I have to choose physical media, I’d pick Minidisc for audio and Blu-ray for video.

CrimeDad, (edited )

Buddy movie where instead of becoming furious with his wife for cheating on him, the husband just becomes good pals with his wife’s boyfriend. Eventually the wife starts feeling left out as hijinks ensue. In a climactic scene, the boyfriend resists the wife’s temptations in order to help with the new business he and the husband have started together, which leads to the two guys stopping a mass shooter. The two become heroes and best friends forever. It turns out that the would be mass shooter is an ex of the wife who didn’t have a friend and just couldn’t deal.

CrimeDad,

Not really going for a “woman, therefore bad” trope and I wouldn’t let the producers take it that way, as per the premise of the question. If I’m employing a trope, it would be “buddy good, even if he’s fucking your wife”. It’s a movie that puts friendship over toxic masculinity.

CrimeDad,

This is disaster capitalism, isn’t it? (Albeit it’s a malicious, genocidal, manmade disaster.)

when will be your last time to vote for the "lesser of two evils"?

When will be your “this is the last fucking time I’m voting for the ‘lesser of two evils’, then I don’t care after that, let this country burn to the ground”? For me, this is basically it. This is last election I’m going for that " lesser of two evils" bullshit. After that I’m done. It’s just pointless. Let’s...

CrimeDad,

The chances of your vote being the one to change the outcome of a large election are extremely small, so it doesn’t really matter that much what you do with your ballot. However, if you have the means to influence other people’s votes, that might count for something. Therefore, I think it’s good to discourage people from voting for the apparent lesser of two evils. If you vote, try to vote as best as you can for your class interests. (Chances are that you belong to the working class.) Don’t feel bad about abstaining if the candidates to choose from represent class interests that are counter to yours to the extent that you can barely tell them apart.

CrimeDad,

What a joke. I love how he uses the passive voice to describe IDF war crimes, but Hamas gets the active. They’re going to try and do regime change in Gaza, but Hamas is not the beginning or end of Palestinian armed resistance. What we really need is regime change in Israel.

As for Ukraine, I think that’s a lost cause and nothing Biden says convinces me otherwise. The enthusiasm for Israel just isn’t there for Ukraine in this piece.

CrimeDad,

My house. Even though we have to pay taxes and mortgage interest, it beats paying rent to a landlord. Also, we bought it in 2020 and it has appreciated it value significantly since then. However, that appreciation is kind of fictitious to me, because if we sold the house it’s unlikely that we’d be able to buy a similar one in the same area for less. So, it’s just a nice house.

CrimeDad,

At least property tax increases usually aren’t as bad as rent increases, at least in my experience.

My apparently controversial take is that flat property taxes should be abolished and the imputed rent of a given property should be progressively taxed as income instead.

CrimeDad,

Even if there were a thousand Hamas commanders somehow at the camp, it wouldn’t be a valid excuse.

CrimeDad,

It felt good to tap the ‘create’ button. 😈

CrimeDad,

You’re welcome.

CrimeDad,

I have several in my home. However, I need to get some for my cars.

CrimeDad,

I mix Huel shakes for lunch when I don’t have leftovers from dinner to eat. It’s healthy (I think), convenient, inexpensive, and it tastes fine.

CrimeDad,

Seems kind of complicated to me. Why don’t countries just unilaterally put tarriffs on imports from countries with (corporate) income taxes that are too low, as well as countries that don’t also have similar tariffs?

CrimeDad,

Hmmm makes me question the benefit of the WTO.

CrimeDad,

I am not a cat person, but I’ve lived with a couple of them and they can be really charming little companions. They can also be incredible assholes and imo their charisma doesn’t make up for it. Some people just weigh the pros and cons differently.

CrimeDad,

It makes sense that bad cat owners are responsible, in large part, for bad cat behavior. That said, if it’s so difficult to raise a cat properly, then maybe cats just aren’t good pets for most people.

CrimeDad,

How was Israeli intelligence so bad that they could be taken off guard so incredibly in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, yet suddenly so good that they would dare to conduct missile strikes in crowded areas like this? Really, it’s as bad as ever and they’re just serial killers who are happy to launch flying Saw traps at Palestinian civilians.

CrimeDad,

This article is dated October 30th. Is it still news at this point?

CrimeDad,

I guess it’s just been one of those weeks.

CrimeDad,

If a rogue ethno-state kept denying my rights and killing my friends and family, I would also have some terrible things to say about them at the very least.

CrimeDad,

There is plenty of footage of Israelis and their sympathizers saying horrible things about Palestinians, but only one side is so incredibly precious about it.

CrimeDad,

As a comfortable American whose tax dollars support the Israeli war machine, it is not my place to condemn Palestinian resistance, no matter what form it takes.

CrimeDad,

Given the context, I don’t think it’s fair to call Ahed Tamimi an extremist. The IDF just bombed a pediatric cancer ward. This young woman just made an Instagram post.

CrimeDad,

Nonsense.

CrimeDad,

I think liberation struggles often require international support. It’s not as if the Israeli occupiers don’t have foreign support either.

CrimeDad,

You all leave that beautiful woman alone!

CrimeDad,

💯

CrimeDad,

I’m not so credulous to believe that they really lost sound, but okay.

CrimeDad,

To me it seemed like he was struggling to give the IDF guy an out and make it fit the narrative.
