Seeing the other post here about YouTuber that went downhill and seeing content creators I am familiar with makes me sad. But how about those that still makes great, high quality content?
I haven’t seen Forgotten Weapons mentioned, yet. If you couldn’t tell by the channel name, it covers rare and historical weapons, mostly firearms, but does so in a straightforward, informational, and apolitical way. It’s basically the kind of show the history channel should make. I think he’s been putting out episodes since around 2011.
That kind of sucks. I mean as far as gun tubers go he is on the left of that spectrum, but I guess that’s a pretty low bar. Ian always struck me as a libertarian of some sorts. His buddy Karl from InRange TV has taken a lot of flack on gun forums and what not for vocalizing support for the trans community. I think that guy might be a Socialist of some kind maybe.
Thanks for the heads up on that, though. I had no idea. I haven’t kept up on his newest videos, but he has such a backlog that idk if I ever will. I only watch the main videos occasionally so I would have had no idea about that other crap he puts on his page. Definitely disappointing.
Calling that comment, “incredibly hateful and transphobic”, can take power away from things that are actually hateful and transphobic. JK Rowling is a transphobe and can fuck off, for sure, but that comment was not hateful. They never even mentioned their own opinion on Trans rights anywhere in it. It was just an incredibly naive and ignorant take about the JK Rowling situation.
That being said, it was a bad take, for sure. It’s dumb to give anyone a pass for shitty behavior based on other things that they have done.

Literally the only care that mattered in this situation is the admin(s) at Nexus mods, and they didn’t have to even care that much. The thing could be removed with about 5 minutes of work, if that. Nexus has shown that they will not platform bigotry, and this is them following through on that once again. Other people’s opinions didn’t even matter.
You should want to make racists uncomfortable when they do a racism, and bigots uncomfortable when they do a bigotry. It’s part of the hidden contract to living in a nice society. Stand up for others who are affected even if you are not. Shit is not cool, and you should care that your brothers and sisters are being marginalized.
I think you are right, it mostly has to do with education and access to knowledge. Just about every human today has access to all of the world’s knowledge through the internet. It makes it pretty difficult to avoid seeing those contradictions, even if you actively try to.
While I agree that this law is dumb, I don’t think these clothes are the ‘desired clothes’ that most women would choose on their own with no outside coercion. Many Islamic women wear these kind of clothes because of the intense pressure put on them to do so from their friends, family, and peers. If they dress differently, they are shunned and shamed.
I will concede that some woman out there would maybe choose to wear that on their own with unlimited choices, but the rest of the world and history has shown that women don’t tend to want fully cover themselves from head to toe when given other options, unless it’s cold out.
This law will do nothing to help that problem at all, though, and it will probably only act to make that pressure stronger as a pushback. It’s not just Islam that does this, either. Many other religious institutions put this pressure on their women.
Yes. China has a huge hacking problem. Anytime there is a ban wave of hackers in just about any competitive online multiplayer game that Chinese players have access to, the vast majority of the IPs banned are Chinese. The gaming cafes over there even advertise hacks.
It has to do with their culture. Chinese culture is very cutthroat and survival of the fittest. It makes people have the mindset of doing anything they can to win or be successful, even if it means cheating. It’s not just video games. They have a huge problem with it in their education system, as well. It’s also why there is so many cheap copies and counterfeits of different products made in China.

I would gladly take my chances on the autobahn over the freeways in California. I feel that I’m much more likely to get killed in California by somebody texting while driving.
I feel like the nature of the autobahn makes it so drivers actually have to pay attention, but I could be wrong.
Also, the kind of cars that are popular in Europe actually drive and perform well. Our freeways are filled with pickup trucks and large SUVs, where the driver can’t see anything in a 10 foot radius around their truck, and if they have to perform a quick maneuver at top speed, it’s pretty much impossible.
Road safety here means to just be in a bigger vehicle, not to have a nimble well handling vehicle like most Europeans seem to prefer.
Every dollar they can save by not spending on making US citizens lives better can be used to buy another missile or drone. The Ukrainian and Israeli armies have benefitted more from our tax dollars than US citizens have in recent times, it seems.

What’s shitty about it? It’s just an abandoned mining town tourist trap with artsy hippies living there. I mean it’s not a place where you’d probably want to raise a family, but the landscape is beautiful and there are a few good restaurants and bars there.

There is for sure, but I would argue that a quieter sports car with too much power for an inexperienced driver to handle is more of a hazard than a loud old beater car. I’m going to assume you are arguing in good faith here. It’s not that simple at all. There are a myriad of reasons why they can’t leave.
For one, Hamas won’t let them. The innocent civilians are being used as meat shields for Hamas bases. Hamas is known to guard the borders.
They also don’t have the supplies or energy at this point to make the trip. Car travel isn’t possible with everything being bombed out right now. Gaza is not big and the warzone covers the whole area it’s not safe for these people to go outside. They are hunkered down wherever they can find. Nobody is offering to come rescue them, and even if some group wanted to, they couldn’t without putting their own lives at risk from attacks or crossfire from Hamas and Israel.
