You have a bucket of memories attached to home, school, work, waking, dreaming, etc.

Change where you are and you change the bucket of memories that you have access to.

The granularity of this effect depends on how rattled you are.

The effect can be extreme. To the point that you lose consciousness between locations.

It explains why we forgot our dreams when we wake up in the morning.

There was a guy in a story by Greg Egan who could edit his memories. So he climbed this one climbing wall forever. But in his memory he had only been on the wall for an hour.

I have come across a lot’s of people like these. like 99% of them. Sometimes it makes me think twice if what i am saying is wrong? What’s wrong with them. Is it so hard to swallow your pride and acknowledge that the other person is speaking facts? When they come to know they are wrong they proceed to insult/make fun of...

I hear moral rightness and reasonable rightness knocking against each other here.

It might be as simple as “it works for them so maybe it would work for me too”.

Yes I know that cannabis is safer. But I think that it’s also mentally less healthy.

Don’t get me wrong. Cannabis has done wonders and I appreciate it. But it is much more muddling than opium. And of the two, it is only cannabis that has disturbed friends of mine to the point that they gave it up entirely.

I think that cannabis is more powerful and disturbing than we give it credit for. And, safety aside, opium is deeply smooth.
