Nobody would complain about a freelancer with multiple clients, even at the same time, provided they got their work done on time and on budget. Why isn’t it the same for employees? Why do bosses get to treat them like clients from hell?

Building an entirely new rail high speed rail network would cost hundreds of billions of dollars, if not trillions, with a construction time measured in decades and a repayment time of a century, if ever, because passenger rail is very low margin.

In our modern economy where quarterly results are the only thing that matter there is no company that will make that investment.

I was with you until this. But that's because I'm a programmer and time stuff is hard enough before you start using minutes instead of hours.

I think putting the sun's zenith at 1pm would be better year round. Even with that my kids still wake up before dawn starting in October, and I'd rather have daylight when I'm awake.

I think a lot of car enthusiasts are coming around to this point of view. Cars are fun, but traffic isn't. Give people alternatives and they'll be off the road.

Plus, car dependency makes cars suck. The reason they're all egg shaped CUVs or boxy SUVs is because they're essentially appliances. Everybody needs one so they make them for the lowest common denominator. Fun, affordable cars just don't exist anymore. And even Ferrari is making an SUV.

Finally, I think every car enthusiast will recognize that there are a lot of terrible drivers out there. Making licensing more stringent would weed a lot of these people out, but unless they have a viable alternative they'll just drive without a license.
