What's with the corporate obsession with customer feedback?

If you contact the customer support of your utility company, phone carrier, bank, or other service provider you’ll likely be flooded with requests to rate the experience and provide feedback. Likewise, corporate websites and email communications often solicit feedback via embedded buttons or links to online forms....

NPS is a way for lazy managers to avoid having to actually interact with customers. There's no way one number can encapsulate how a customer feels, but they're going to try because it's easier and cheaper.

Anti-authoritarian collectivist/socialists are usually categorized as anarchists. At least that’s what the tankies call me.

It's good that Reddit did this today because the memes on the fediverse have been extremely good lately. Reddit Remainers checking it out will find a fun, active community

Garek deserves a prequel series. What was tailor school like? Did he get grief for being into fashion instead of war games like other Cardassians? Did his family support his decision?

I’m lazy and don’t want to remember more than three digits in an IP address or secure all my devices like they’re publicly routable so I’m sticking with IPv4

This one is the lesser of two weevils.

There’s no mention of bribery being illegal in the Constitution so the Supreme Court won’t have a problem with this

LA County sheriff says deputy punching baby-holding mother in the face was ‘completely unacceptable’ (apnews.com)

LOS ANGELES (AP) — For the second time in a week, the Los Angeles County sheriff decried the use of force by deputies in the Antelope Valley after the Sheriff’s Department released video on Wednesday of a deputy punching a woman twice in the face as she held her baby.

Great thing about the fediverse is that it will always have new instances and we can keep moving to the cool ones

I got sick of it and made up my own pledge:

I pledge my cheeses to the hag
of the untied snakes of harmonica
And to my public, the Richard Stans
One nation, under Zod, invisible
With liver, tea, and just us for all

I was talking to a guy at my neighbor's party and he asked how I keep my lawn looking so good. I said "I mow it infrequently, keep it long, and don't try to get rid of weeds." In the hottest part of the summer mine still looks good, and it's full of clover and dandelions for the bees.

Anywhere outside of a city - really any city, even in blue states - is incredibly conservative. And because land gets votes and not people, this gives conservatives an overwhelming amount of power. Only once in the last thirty years has a Republican won the majority of votes, but thanks to the electoral college they've held the office for almost half the time.

Is there a way to get Thunderbird to use Markdown for message formatting? I haven't been able to find any email client that can do it and it would get me to switch in a heartbeat

I read the original blog post and I don't think the recommendations he gives the party are going to help.

If, as the data shows, more young people don't think politics are able to meet our challenges, how is better Tik Tok content going to convince them? Especially when we know that any legislative or executive initiative to help things is going to get stopped by a corrupt Supreme Court.

What can a senior desktop support tech do who is burned out?

I am wondering what kind of career moves I have available to me because I am over the bullshit of desktop support. I have been brushing up on my Linux skills, learning docker, and doing a whole bunch of networking-related things. At this point, I am 46 years old. Would it benefit me to go back to school to learn a skill to help...

Kinda makes me wonder what lore the fediverse will develop. What will kbin's "broken arms" moment be?

Semi-Hemi-Demigod,
@Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social avatar

Considering the stranglehold that huge platforms have on users, it makes a lot of sense for organizations to have their own fediverse servers, with communities and access they control.

For example, a lot of governments use Twitter as a way to communicate in disaster situations. But since Elon lets anyone with a credit card have a check mark and bans people on a whim you can't trust that the account is a real one or that it won't be cut off in time of need. A Mastodon server would solve both of these problems.
