I respect your policy above but you may run into declining response rate in the long term without some kind of feedback, as there will be a ‘what is the point’ feeling. I may be wrong of course (and hope I am!), just something I’ve seen at work. I completely get your reasoning though.
In all honesty nothing in particular, moreso that I want to explore what’s possible. I used IFTTT for things like switching WiFi on when my phone was in a specific location, saving emails with receipts/order confirmations to somewhere central like Google Drive (though trying to find a non-google alternative). I also liked the Pocket integration.
Just inherited a bunch of cucumbers from a friend’s garden. I love them just on their own with some salt, and have made many a salad using them. I’m curious what kinds of fun things you all may use them for. Even if you feel like it’s basic please share as I will be eating cucumbers for the next several days straight lol....
So it’s not exactly sophisticated but cucumber water. I love it, every time I go somewhere that has cucumber water I always think I’m somewhere posh (even though it costs pennies).
I can’t say I got that impression from them to be honest. Feels like you have assumed a lot from a couple of comments (though I totally get being jaded after a while of seeing the same kind of thing).
I think this could be a really interesting thing to explore both sides of the argument as I do think you have a point. Just seems like you’re both interpreting it differently in terms of tone (which I guess fits in a way, given your stances)
When I first joined this community I saw it as a respite from reddit where I was free to chill with people without being constantly expected to debate or defend arguments or anything. Just a forum where people are nice....
Can’t say I’ve noticed it on Beehaw but I have on some other instances. Just posted in one actually - was an interesting discussion on the nature of violence in media. One person immediately lashed out at the person and I’m struggling to see why as they were being civil and were just exploring ideas.
I think it’s a wider thing than Lemmy or even the internet. It feels like some kind of way of getting control over something for people who lack any control in other aspects of their lives. They can have it if they’re ‘right’ even if they have to attack people for it.
@alyaza is MIA currently, but this weekly thread has been so awesome to see and keep going; so I am making what would be her typical post for this week. Alyaza; stay safe friend, I hope everything is okay....
It’s been a good but intense week so far. Back to work with a 3 day intensive python course, which was interesting (and a long time coming, I have asked for training for 3 years now). Looking forward to putting it into use now I understand the basics.
Otherwise not a lot to write home about. Looking into new choirs prior to the new term starting, in one already but quit the second one I was in as the music wasn’t to my taste.
I’m on holiday at the Edinburgh fringe festival. Had like an hour’s sleep but seen some great comedy already today. Treated myself to mussels and ice cream (not together) for dinner, looking forward to passing out at my hotel. Walked miles today which was much needed exercise even if my feet hurt!
Long day full of shows tomorrow, can’t wait. Hardest thing will be pacing myself caffeine and alcohol wise. I’m not good at staying out all day
Ouch hope you’re not too burnt! I burn so easily, I wear factor 50 SPF and still end up red. Not a fan of summer weather, though here it’s mostly rained for the last week so I’m grateful for that
This week has been suspiciously good so far. Getting things done, people have largely been nice, spent the weekend with my sister’s cat which was lovely. I’m just waiting for something bad to happen (super healthy I know).
I love black cats and tortoiseshells. Had a lovely tortie on my street growing up who would talk to you and follow you up the street every day 💙 (let’s not have the outdoor cat argument please, not my cat, this is the UK, etc).
I adore Ragdolls aesthetically but never interacted with one so not sure I would get one as a pet until I had.
I am slightly biased against ginger cats as there was another cat on my street growing up who would scratch us after seeking us out for pets. I don’t dislike them but I probably wouldn’t get one

In the past week and a half, I've noticed Reddit behaviors starting to try and poison all of the places that people are taking refuge in to get away from the toxicity, myself included. They've started to DDoS Lemmy for a while, which is a Reddit thing to do and what they're notorious of doing whenever they feel they don't like...
Since my main lemmy’s password is locked behind Bitwarden, I had to make a new account to post. Originally I started using passwords manager because I keep forgetting passwords. But my paranoid ass is so worried that someone saw me typing my Bitwarden master password so I feel the urge to change it. So now I forgot the new...
Yeah when my depression flares up my memory is awful. I have a reasonable adjustment at work for instructions to be given in writing when I’m feeling low because it will literally be like talking to a goldfish.
I took over a colleague’s reporting as they’re leaving and with the press of a button all 4 reports broke for the whole business. During peak monthly reporting time. Whoopsie. Now waiting for IT to fix everything, which might take a while.
For me it’s first person puzzle games. I can think of maybe a dozen off the top of my head that came out in the last decade. I especially enjoy when they’re open world. The ability to just quit a puzzle that’s stumped you and go try something else for a little bit is incredibly refreshing.
things are in fact going extremely badly but we’ll see if they pick up starting tomorrow night for reasons that will preclude me being here for about a week (seeing my SO)

[CLOSED] a Beehaw survey on some policy and the site's vibes
good morning, Beehaw...
Reddit faces content quality concerns after its Great Mod Purge (arstechnica.com)
The outcome was predicted by plenty users in this community, but now the news are noticing it.
Open Source alternative to IFTTT?
Are there any decent open source alternatives or should I be looking to go down the building route?...

your girlfriend gets an unencrypted copy of all your files. What happens?
What have you witnessed or seen that would sound like a conspiracy theory if someone else told you?
has beehaw gotten more argumentative as of late?

Sorry if my question was weird....

So um... I kinda forgot my Bitwarden Password... 😬 Also can we talk about like stress memory problems and stuff? Recently, I'm having trouble remembering stuff.
