spader312,

This happened in the movie the guardians

spader312,

It is more convenient to wait in your car. Getting down takes longer

spader312,

Popeyes chicken sandwich is actually really good too

spader312,

Well a chic fil a in a city like NY won’t have a drive through lol I think that suburban chic fil a’s are just very optimized for drive thru

spader312,

I bought a refurbished dall latitude 7490 for like 270$. For the price it’s a powerful machine, 16gb ram and i7 processor. Installed fedora on it and I’m in love with it. For the price it puts out the power I need for software development.

spader312,

Can confirm, bought a Dell latitude 4790 which is a corporate machine refurbished for $270. It’s super powerful for the price, runs Fedora perfectly.

spader312,

This week I bought a used Dell latitude 4790 for 300$ on Amazon and installed fedora on it. I love it! So light weight and customizable. I wish I had tried it sooner

spader312,

Looks like Jehovah Witness Doomsday persecution propaganda

spader312,

Yes 100%. Born and raised. You grow up your entire life thinking the world is going to end in a few years. Why goto college if the world will end and it won’t serve you in the new system? We grow up in terror, see a storm out the window… Is it Armageddon? Constant fear.

Not to mention the fear of being exiled from your friends and family if you “sin”. My childhood was lost because I didn’t get to celebrate Christmas or Halloween, or goto my friends house from school, or watch Harry Potter or play Pokemon. Instead we went to church twice a week, went knocking door to door at least once a week in the heat and humidity, and did book study once a week where we read their literature and answer simple minded questions about it. Sundays were non-existent because we spent the entire day partaking in those activities.

spader312,

It is anxiety inducing, it’s hard to even realize it because they always keep you busy. And they discourage you from having friends outside the religion and teach you that people outside have miserable lives, they only do drugs, drink alcohol and have sex. Anyone outside is only nice to you because they want to take advantage of you.

Youre taught to be scared of the outside world so you never explore it and realize that normal people really are just normal and most people are actually very friendly and want to help each other, and are a million times less judgemental than other JWs.

In other words, it’s a cult.

spader312,

Honestly think it’s a fair question. Check your calendar. Maybe you had a wedding that day. Maybe you normally work from 8-5 and would prefer to go at 7am. Maybe you had vacation planned.

spader312,

Usually you schedule your next appointment when you’re finishing the first one so you don’t forget. Then they’ll send you a bunch of reminder texts leading up to it lol

spader312,

What am I supposed to see?

spader312,

All I saw was paint not shiny legs 🤷‍♂️

spader312,

Born and raised in Miami. It’s a rich people’s play ground. People in Miami are vein, they only care about how they look. They drive a mustang but live in a trailer. Public transit is a joke.

Our beaches are nice but the weather feels like a sauna for most of the year.

spader312,

Thanks for the fix lol

spader312,

I would love to move to LA or San Diego I love the perfect weather.

spader312,

Omg does Lenny have a community for unnecessary red circles?

spader312,

This has always been the case in Google search (you know the search engine Google started with as a company). Drove me crazy when I would see an old person click the AD link instead of the actual search result

McDonald's prices are out of control. (cdn.masto.host)

Gee, it’s almost like corporations are gouging consumers so badly that their market advantages are being lost due to greed. Inflation this quickly isnt real. It’s what happens when you come off a global pandemic with millions dead and corporations see they can freely abuse you by exploiting the public zeitgeist that prices...

spader312,

Also waive your rights to class action law suit against McDonald’s

spader312,

Just curious is a raspberry pi powerful enough for streaming on multiple devices in 4k? Thinking of doing a setup and sharing with my family and friends. I anyway have a pi available

spader312, (edited )

Yeah sounds like it might be a fun project to try it out with a pi but it’s not realistic for sharing outside of my household

spader312,

Cheap pixel a is like 300ish

spader312,

We are currently on DST. Standard is what we are moving to this weekend. Many states are passing laws to make DST (summer time) permanent. But federally it’s not legal yet so only if it becomes legal federally then we can stop changing the clock. There was a bill passed in the Senate at the beginning of this year called Sunshine Protection Act. But it has yet to be put on the house floor. And it probably never will since the house is a shit show right now

spader312,

Also the sun rising at 4:30am during the summer also kinda sucks for your sleep

spader312,

Also missing someone talking about Linux

spader312,

That’s why the idea of 15 minutes cities is picking up. From where you live everything essential should be within a 15 minute walk.

spader312,

A machine that spins your can inside of water and ice exists and chills a drink within like a minute

spader312,

Tell me you’re a Linux user without telling me you’re a Linux user

spader312,

I think the wording was production left confusing. But the facts are the facts

spader312,

Basically you just have to move to get a lower rate. Like a job they won’t do anything in your benefit you have to move jobs to get an increase (or decrease in the case if apartments)

spader312,

Plain coffee with unsweetened almond milk!

spader312,

I love this way of looking at it. The market optimizes for profit not general good for the public

Do younger people go home earlier now? Or go out less? Is it since COVID?

Someone asked a question about how frequently young people have time to socialize and it made me think about what people do with their evenings. I recently asked my son to go to a concert (free ticket to see a band i know he likes) and he declined because it was an hour away on a weeknight. If we invite our kids or niece/nephew...

spader312,

I’ll say maybe they are right but it might not be a bad thing 🤷‍♂️

spader312,

She doesn’t even go here!

spader312,

2k for a GPU?

spader312, (edited )

+1 for photography it’s addicting to buy new gear lol

I started with a relatively cheap Lumix g95 ($700) m43 camera thinking it would have everything I need. But for video I wanted slow mo. It had slow mo but the bit rate was horrendous. At the time I had no idea and none of the information online told you this at all. It was just a check mark ✓ High Frame rate and I had no idea how important bit rate was. Bought better lenses (approx 1200$) because I wanted depth of field and lower light performance. Which m43 just couldn’t provide, but I really wouldn’t have known how much it couldn’t provide it. I trudged on.

Upgraded to GH5 (800$ on offer up), same lenses but much better sensor, higher frame rates, 4k support, better video codex’s. Still had issues with low light and depth of field. Oh yeah and to top it off all Lumix cameras have terrible auto focus. Which is only amplified by my yearning to have lower depth of field, cause more of the picture is out of focus. Now I want to pull the cord and buy a full frame sony camera (2500$ + another $2500 in lenses). I still think GH5 is a great camera and got good use out of it

spader312,

I gasped when I saw the stripper pole lol

spader312,

I’ve seen something similar for your arm. It’s larger and at arms length so you can use more of your body weight to pull it open

spader312,

She does look like a skeleton now. You should see when she appeared as a judge in RuPaul’s drag race this year

spader312,

Those guys are like the leaders of the vampires. They live in Brazil and make the rules and and they punish any one who breaks them

spader312,

A form of “self documentation” I like to do is create variables for conditions before using it in an if statement. If you break down a funky conditional into easy to read variables it becomes a lot more clear what it’s trying to do.

Idk how to write code on sync:

<span style="color:#323232;">const isHumid = xxxx;
</span><span style="color:#323232;">const isHot = yyyy;
</span><span style="color:#323232;">const isSunny = zzzzz;
</span><span style="color:#323232;">
</span><span style="color:#323232;">If (isHot &amp;&amp; isHumid &amp;&amp; isSunny) {
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    ...
</span><span style="color:#323232;">}
</span>
spader312,

Omg thank you I’m gonna try this!!
