The house I live in is paid off and it’s supposed to be our forever home, so market value doesn’t matter much. For my two apartments I rent out it is more relevant. On those I have a fixed interest for another 5+ years still ahead of me. After that I‘m hoping that I’ll still be able to afford the higher interest rates on the by then lower balance.
The value I provide is taking over the risks and responsibilities of owning the apartment. Not everybody is willing or able to take out a loan of that size. The tenant maintains their flexibility of moving wherever they want or need to at relatively short notice. If there’s problems with the apartment I must figure it out, not them. It’s not my job by the way. The rent my tenants pay covers the bills I get for owning the apartment. I‘m employed somewhere else. What is your idea of doing it differently? Must housing be just free for everyone? Or everybody must just buy? I’m generally curious!

Definitely not. While some people in Germany learn a bit of French as a third language in school, you’ll definitely be better off with English.
I never noticed hotel names being often French. It might come from an attempt to sound more exotic or luxurious within Germany. The comments might have just been French tourists. It’s the biggest neighbouring country after all.

En-route nothing would happen for a while correct. Plane goes on as long as it has a programmed route to follow and fuel to stay in the air. But keep in mind that, around the planet, thousands of airplanes are about to land right now. Landings are like 95% flown manually so if all those are suddenly empty in the cockpit they’ll crash pretty much immediately.
Happiness depends heavily on where in the world you are employed by which airline and what you make of it with your personal attitude. The spectrum of work/life balance is huge and payment can range from negative (pay us to allow you to fly for us) to big bucks (who has the time to spend this much?). Different labour rights in different countries like being fired and deported on a whim or strong unions and rights that protect you almost no matter what. How much free time do you have? Both at destination and at home, what is more important for whom? I had to retire due to a brain cancer diagnosis. So medical stuff is another slippery slope. Back pains? Migranes? You’re on your way out. I loved the job though. I was flexible enough to not be bothered by last minute changes to my flight roster or irregular sleep schedules. Not having kids and a stay-at-home wife helped with that as well. (If your partner works as well, the time you actually see each other can get scarce.) This also applies to friends. Wanna go out with me on a Friday? Should have told me two months ago so I could have requested off days… you get the idea.
Since the pandemic I have realised that doctors are just people as well and will make up bs as it suits them as well. Like those fake mask exemptions and what not…

You don’t have to do it religiously. You can eat meat in one occasion, and avoid it in another. Especially these days the meat-supplements are getting pretty good. I would opt for them more often if they weren’t more expensive than real meat.
