runner_g,

The FDA also approved the world’s first RSV vaccine. If you’ve noticed a lot of ad-campaigns for it this year, that’s why.

fda.gov/…/fda-approves-first-respiratory-syncytia…

runner_g,

Living in Colorado, I absolutely have one of these for my special boy.

runner_g,

First spot on the left looks pretty open to me.

runner_g,

So true.

runner_g,

Absolute killer list of bands. Call of the Mountain has to be in my top 5 best songs ever written.

And I’ve never heard a bad song from Sabaton.

I’ll also add Nightwish to the list for symphonic metal. I tend to favor their older stuff, Dark Chest of Wonder would be a great entry point into them.

runner_g,

Import SQLTransubstantiation is a lot of work for python coders.

runner_g,

Unless is Bio-rad. All my homies hate Bio-rad.

runner_g,

I chime in with a “haven’t you people ever heard of… DDMMMYYY?”

runner_g,

Captain America Elevator meme.

runner_g,

I think that’s true of the entire country, except maybe the desert between Phoenix and Vegas.

runner_g,

From the article it looks like he was running diagnostics and tests on the sensors.

runner_g,

The only moral abortion is my abortion

A long read but relevant just as much today as it was 23 years ago when published.

runner_g,

I’m guessing you have some microbiology training?

I want to coin the term facultative bisexual. You prefer the opposite gender but in their absence you are comfortable with someone of your gender.

runner_g,

Slide is from 2013, per the article

runner_g,

Yar harr? Or wfh programmer?

runner_g,

Ah yaeh that would do it.

runner_g,

At least we have a novella coming out in 2 weeks…

But Rothfuss still owes us the full cast reading of the first few chapters of Doors of Stone. That he set as a fundraiser goal two years ago and promised would be available the following February!

runner_g,

Not trying to debate the importance of e2ee, but the title is akin to saying “eating bread recommended by global bread making coalition.”

runner_g,

We’ve a gnome wizard in our party who focuses on fire magic. Our last combat involved the DM rolling out small groups of minions each round. They were coming out of an airship and stayed grouped up. You bet your ass that gnome spent 3 turns in a row casting 3 fireballs.

runner_g,

That’s how I got my kitty! He climbed out of the kennel onto my shoulder and sat there like a parrot.

runner_g,

Ask your vet is they are Fear-Free Certified. Vet visits are stressful for cats and Fear-Free training can help vets and vet techs interact with your cat in ways to lower their stress (ie picture on the right).

runner_g,

Break up, no. Retire, yes :(

runner_g,

I feel like you would enjoy Slice and Dice. Similar to dicey dungeon, you are rolling dice, but instead of them being a classic d6, each side of the die is the hero’s abilities. You collect relics and get better heroes as you progress through the run. 8 bucks on Itch.io gets you both the mobile and desktop download. Also has a demo.

runner_g,

Nobel prizes are usually at minimum 20 years after the work was performed. Kariko and Weissman are on the close end of the bell curve, having done much of their RNA injection research in the mid 2000s, with their major breakthrough happening in 2005.

Average blahaj.zone user.

runner_g,

Dems absolutely support progress when in power. A Democrat is the reason your insurance can’t deny you due to a pre-existing conditions. Also, the minimum wage by state tells a stark story. www.epi.org/minimum-wage-tracker/

runner_g,

Straight, cis guy here. I made my account on blahaj.zone because it hosted 196, and I enjoyed 196 on Reddit.

runner_g,

As a molecular biologist, I can confirm this meme is 100% accurate. If excel cant calculate it for me, I want nothing to do with it.

runner_g,

For me it’s win “calc” enter.

runner_g,

Fun fact, we are currently on the 38th major revision of the Human Genome (Google GRCh38). In the 20+ years since we completed the project, we’ve been able to design 100s of thousands of kits for genetic testing of human genetic diseases, anything from inherited diseases like Huntington’s to developed diseases, eg, cancer. Within the world of biotech, it’s one of the greatest achievements of all time.

runner_g,

Wastewater-based emidemiology guy here. Thank you for your recognition of the field! I work at a competitor of Biobot, and what I find interesting is the article claiming Biobot data showing a plateau, as our data is showing a significant uptick over the month of August.

On a different note, the majority of funding for WBE and wastewater surveillance comes from state/federal coffers, so please ask your colleagues to write to your representatives and ask for more funding towards WBE.

runner_g,

The mutations in this strain (EG.5) shouldn’t be affecting the rapid-test target. Most kits use both the N -gene and S-gene to account for potential future mutations, and both genes have only small number of point-mutations across those two genes. If you want to waste an afternoon check out outbreak.info and look at the lineage comparison tool.

runner_g,

Same here. Spigen tough armor and a glass screen protector and lens protector. There’s some dust buildup by the type-c port and speakers, but what case won’t have that?

runner_g,

Hopefully I won’t get crucified for this take, but Dune. I love the Barsoom series, I love Tremors, but Dune did nothing for me. I tried reading it near the end of spring semester in high school, which is arguably a bad time as I was dealing with track semi-final/finals as well as school finals, and after a month of reading less than a page a day, I gave it back to the friend who loaned it to me. That was 12 years ago, though so maybe I should give it another shot.

runner_g,

I use paint at work as a white board occasionally.

runner_g,

My wife and I started using cozi a few months ago. Shared to-do lists, shopping lists, etc with widgets. It’s been nice.

runner_g,

Pretty stoked about this. I use Excel a lot at work to make processing templates, and use VBA where necessary, but adding python as a 2nd tool to automate processes will be awesome!

runner_g,

Nah, 10 years ago it was 1990.

Right, guys?

runner_g,

Connect sometimes randomly throws me into All on launch.

runner_g,

Not OP but for sticking you can probably get square labels from Avery, or be lazy and print on printer paper and use packing tape to adhere.

runner_g,

This is what happens if you take it out as a lump sum. If you choose to take your winnings over an extended period of time (20 years or something), it is taxes more like income.

That said, I totally agree with you!
