The main reason I started using Linux is because I wanted to use tiling window managers. Maybe take a look at some of those. It’s the same idea as Fancy zones just cranked up to 100
In a surprising move, Apple has announced today that it will adopt the RCS (Rich Communication Services) messaging standard. The feature will launch via a software update “later next year” and bring a wide range of iMessage-style features to messaging between iPhone and Android users....

Good news! There will be a sequel! We (the fans) did a lot of stuff to I guess convince “them” to go ahead and make the two sequels. I wrote a blog about it - there is also a link way down to SCREENGEEK that talks about the sequels
Hi Android Community, I previously used “DFCleaner” which was a free, ad-supported app that searched specified folders for duplicate files and let you preview and delete anything that it found. This app now bothers me with a consent form for ad tracking so I’ve ditched it in protest. Are there any open source alternatives...
If you don’t know terminal it’s intimidating I guess l, but you can Google how to find duplicates in linux, and xdg-open works well in termux for preview
Be sure to enable allow-external-apps in ~/.termux/termux.properties
I sure there are more user-friendly way to do this but this works 100%
You can also self host a “bitwarden” server that works with the official App if you wan to use the bitwarden pro features for free. It’s called vaultwarden
This is important when windows inevitably dies (subscription-based Windows 12?!) and linux mint gets flooded. Better have the “new” thing from the start
Some pictures if you search that look way worse than I have it. But for example it impacts my ability to run for a long time because I will get side-stich faster
Matrix is great as a discord alternative, I’d just wish it wouldn’t light my Server on fire every time I open element. Like I can live stream 4K to multiple people over that thing, but reading messages takes 30 seconds of fan screaming?
I’ve always hated the idea of using a subscription/cloud hosting for password management. I feel like I should have a LOT more control over that stuff and I don’t really want to hand all my keys over to a company....
If your server is not “online” you could vpn into your home network and use it that way. Another option is to have it local, meaning for example with bit/vault-warden you can still view your passwords if you don’t have connection. But you can’t edit or add new ones
There is no magic pill, no Silver bullet for complicated problems. Otherwise they wouldn’t be complicated. “Being a friend” is meaningless.
What you should do is ask what you can do to help (even if they answer with “nothing”). Ask what’s wrong, if they start talking ask specific questions so that they don’t just stick with the “I’m good thanks” level. Don’t go and say “I’ve had a similar situation”. Don’t list options or try to solve the problem for them
Tell them it doesn’t bother you if they bother you, so that they don’t hold back just because they want to be a good friend to you.
Now, that is what you should do if you want to help. But if it gets to much mentally for you I still recommend anyone to watch this: Optimistic Nihilism. This Video has helped me see the world in a different way has has made me basically immune to “going crazy” or grieving uncomfortably. I know that this is probably not for everyone, but it was for me.
You can’t tell me you post isn’t bait. Google motherfcker they list neo-pronouns in other languages.
I can speak for German and say:
It doesn’t work. It barely works in English, and some people already hate it there.
Basically all European languages and many more have Gender Cases. You would not only have to “invent” a pronouns, but also like 50 different endings and grammatical rules. You could just use one of the existing set endings I, but then the sentence sounds again just male, female or neutral, wich is the exact thing neo-pronouns don’t want to do.
And btw., if your “friends” call you names for not knowing such things l, they are not your friends.
With all the noise on lemmy, spam, and political content I have no interest in, the thought occurred to have blocklists similar to adblock lists. Has anyone looked into this before, is it already a thing? Any thoughts on that?
I think you have it the wrong way, block lists and stuff like that is for sites like Twitter or ideas like mastodon. At least in my experience you have a better time with projects like Lemmy if you pick the communies you like and not the one you do not, and then “live” in your Subscribed feed and just peak at All from time to time
