That’s according to the International Organization for Migration, which warns it’s one of the largest internal displacement and humanitarian crises in the world. The Congo’s eastern region has...

It’s all over twitter lately, people getting recorded ripping down posters with a graphic about the missing Israeli children and then their real names are found and are quickly fired from their jobs.
not sure that getting fired is a suitable punishment for removing posters, but the removal of posters about missing children is a heinous thing, social ostracization is a more fitting reward.
From what I can gather this conflict as been going on a long time and the Hamas group has existed for a while too. Why are all the news cycles suddenly focusing on this the past few weeks?
the media requires people to pay attention to it or they cant sell ad placement. bad news sells better than good news does.
the war in Ukraine is basically at a standstill, no one is going to watch it. media needs a new focus and Israel vs Iranian funded hamas terrorists is the next big thing. in a few months it’ll be something else - it’s just the focus of the “now”.
there’s “feel good” communities out there, but they’re not very active. the active communities are very toxic because they’re arguing about ideologies - tankies, *.ml communists, hamas apologists, and etc vs normal non-insane people. the arguing is why the communities are active.
if you unsubscribe to the active communities you’ll see a lot less negativity - but your feed will be basically static & boring.
normal… but you can practice drinking and get better at it. a couple years ago after I’d stopped drinking I tried to pick it up again and noticed that I couldnt handle my liquor at all. but through practice and perseverance I was eventually able to enjoy various rums and whiskeys without passing out after 5 or 6 ounces. eventually got tired of it again so now I just enjoy a beer every few weeks.

Gee, it’s almost like corporations are gouging consumers so badly that their market advantages are being lost due to greed. Inflation this quickly isnt real. it’s honestly cheaper to DIY from home. then you have absolute control over ingredients, portion sizes, etc. I made a tasty double gorgonzola burger earlier in the week w/ home made pretzel buns and it cost all of $4 for a 1/2 lb burger with exactly what I wanted.
eh, if cooking at home is too much work then I guess they need to eat out. hopefully not at McD’s. i’ve never found cooking to be particularly difficult, and it’s a lot easier these days since I can reference a recipe on my phone if I need to (though generally I just look up ingredient ratios).
i wonder if it’d be easier to use with some sort of gear assembly and then a foot pedal or something - that one handed rotational method looks really tiring

Feral chicken are known in several places. They can be pretty successful and have been signaled as threats to ecosystems and crops in archipelagos like Hawaii and Bermuda. didnt the ancestors of the chicken evolve in the rain forests of/near China? I’m sure there’s latent genes that could express themselves within a few generations - much how domesticated pigs can turn to wild hogs in just a few generations
Vaccine misinformation, which first began spiraling during the Covid-19 pandemic, has grown in the United States in the years since, according to a new survey from the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania....
how does vaccine misinformation lead to only 7% of adults taking the most recently available vaccination? there’s either some other reason (or a few other reasons) or 93% of people subconsciously desire a return of the pandemic. it cant be that, can it? maybe it’s partially availability or lack thereof, but it seems like that cant be the only reason.
vaccinations protect us when everyone we interact with gets vaccinated. that’s how it works… right?
over the long term yeah, and I agree. the problem with a purchase is that you have to have the funds and it’s a lot. no, not renting either - that’s what I do now & of course and it’s not the right answer though it’s the only option for many. there are of course other options - rv/van life/car camping, moving elsewhere (ie: internationally/illegally), or even being a traveler (aka vanlife without a vehicle).
personally, I’m working on building my own RV. it’s a lot cheaper than buying property, but I’ll be the first to admit that there’s still a sizeable upfront cost

market yourself as a computer hardware/software repair guy at all of the nursing homes/retirement communities in the area. market it towards your target demographic, using font styles and language that they’d be familiar with in the 1960s - 1980s. be sure to show up clean shaven with a tie. be polite - yes mam/yes sir. charge through the nose.
I bet you could build up a significant dental fund within 6 to 8 months.
is that the most economical method possible? I’d think a prison barge would be easier, being right there on the sea. but I have no idea - buses might be the best method… that’s how Pakistan plans to get rid of their Afghani infestation - buses.
that’s what the previous post was about - loading them on a freight train. maybe that’s the answer?
I had to do a bit of research but it seems that while there were rail lines linking the various counties of the Levant prior to WW2, those rail links no longer exist. it looks like freight cars are out - sorry @bradorsomething, it’s a no go.
being right there on the water I really think the barge would be the way to go - they can hold hundreds of TEU’s at a time & just a little modification with a plasma torch will open up some windows in the containers.
i have some idea. do I know where every cent goes? no. the government, most governments, are these giant ponderous masses of interwoven bureaucracy, striving to complete many diverse goals. the various goals are often at odds with each other.
ah, makes sense then - he was the leader of the ANC and the ANC actions included acts of terrorism. I guess he mellowed in old age? time/reflection will do that to a person.
an escalation of asymmetric warfare? sure, why not? the issue is more of a technical one, you have to hold the laser beam on the moving target for long enough for it to heat up the missile casing enough that it goes kerplodey - but hey, if you’ve got that covered then why stop there? I wouldnt mind having a beam rifle, would make sniping a dream…
