They have been complaining for at least three weeks. When I saw this post I had a hunch that it was the same person and I was right. Just an apparently bitter person that doesn’t comorehend that “meme” is not what they think it should be

Added new Roshan ability Roar of Retribution. If attacked by the team that last killed him, Roshan will release a roar that is heard globally, damages all units in 900 AoE and applies a debuff on them that increases incoming damage by 25%. Triggers when Roshan’s health drops below 80%. Damage: 50. Damage Bonus per Minute: 10. Debuff Duration: 8s. Cooldown: 20s

This is the most interesting comeback mechanic I’ve seen. I’m not sure it will help much, but if someone is trying to sneak Roshan I can definitely see scenarios where it will come in big

It’s a shame that the cutest thing my cats do is not very photogenic - they love for us to put our knees up and put a blanket on so they can sleep in the tent it creates. But it’s too dark to take a picture of without seriously disturbing them

Maybe they mean “When !memes is down”

I have a friend who still brings up that all I fed him when he was at my house in high school was 12 cheese sticks. To me, that was a meal for royalty and I stand by it

Just so we’re clear, the majority of methane comes from the cow’s burps, not their farts, since most of the methane is produced in the first chamber of their four-chambered stomachs.

No you’re totally right, they don’t have to be! I just saw an opportunity to spread some information and took the chance!

There’s a certain level of irony of a message like theirs in the comments of a meme post

This, to me, was the most noteworthy part of the whole event! One of them has to be at least a little two faced and not believe what they “stand for”. Boebert has a reputation that is just irreconcilable with Democrat values. I’m all for getting along but this is such an extreme belief difference, how is it not an issue!

Well, I jumped in and got one. Ever since I entered a serious relationship I’ve missed out on a lot of titles, so having the option to play sitting next to my wife without taking up the TV will be huge. Here’s hoping it works exactly as I plan

Does it not have an aux port?

Here you go

The Future of Online Communities

Communities are the lifeblood of the Internet. They are the places where magic happens online — where people meet others like themselves, think and talk about the same things, and laugh at the same jokes. From newsgroups and chatrooms and forums, communities have always been the centers of the Internet that draw people in.

But online communities are much more limited than their counterparts in the real world. In the real world, communities are independent entities, free to choose where and how they hang out. No one tells them what to do or where to go.

Today’s online communities are not like this. They are trapped inside apps and platforms, where they do not have independence or control anything of value. This limitation makes them second-class citizens, unable to chart their own destiny on the Internet. It is time to put communities in their rightful place as the foundation of the Internet.

It is time for them to take back ownership and control. It is time for a change.

Community Points

Community Points are the first step towards a better future for online communities. In order to be truly independent from platforms like Reddit, communities need to be owned by their members in ways that platforms cannot take away. With the advent of blockchain technology, we now have a way to establish this freedom in a decentralized and secure way.

As blockchain tokens that are owned and controlled by communities themselves — not by any app or platform — Community Points represent a way for Redditors to own a piece of their favorite communities. They are earned by making contributions to the community, like creating content and moderating. They not only represent ownership and reputation within the community, but can also be used for community governance, moderation, and unlocking premium features. They can even be used in custom tools outside of Reddit and on other platforms.

Most importantly, Community Points are a flexible tool that each community can shape to its needs. Each community has its own Points that it can customize with its own name, symbol, distribution rules, and uses. Every community has its own needs and we expect each to use Points differently and in novel ways that help take them to the next level.

What made you choose your instance?

Following the spirit of spreading across the Fediverse (and because my main instance is down so many times, because diverse reasons) I’m intrigued about the joining instance process, because I honestly don’t know what criteria to have in order to join another one if I ever want to do it....

I did something similar with Beehaw, but found that Lemmy was making my Nas so much louder because of all the data it was writing to disk. So I decided to join programming.dev instead. Some day I want to host my own again but it’s on hold for now

One potential reason posited by The 1619 Project is due to white Americans moving out of metro areas after WW2 in order to “escape” black residents. Then, they restricted expansion of public transportation development to those areas because making them more accessible and usable would potentially result in a influx of poorer, black residents who can’t afford a car to commute to the suburbs.

The specific example they used is Atlanta, which has staunch racial lines, horrible public transport, and some of the worst traffic in America. They make a very compelling case.

Here is the relevant New York Times article about it and it’s Chapter 16 in the actual book

I think definitely in downtown areas with a large night culture, but to a much lesser extent. The entire city center isn’t expensive, just the “hip” areas where the money is being spent. There are tons of poorer areas inside city limits that definitely have a lower cost of living compared to owning a house and a car

I stopped shopping at Amazon years ago because of these brands. Shopping on there is too difficult to ensure you’re getting a high quality product from a reputable company, there are too many fake companies with cheap knockoffs.

And don’t even get me started on the reviews system and how fundamentally broken it is

People you don’t need to shop at Amazon for everything. It’s better for your wallet if you just give up the site and shop direct from the companies whenever possible
