Today, Mozilla announced more than 450 new extensions (software that adds new features or functionality to the browser) to users on Firefox for Android at Mozilla’s AMO Android page. This milestone marks the launch of a new open extension ecosystem on mobile where developers are now free to create and publish extensions and...
Things we knew were coming and the sole reason the government didn’t do anything was because of the neoliberal idea that the market will solve all problems through the magic of capitalism. This has been true for the past 3 decennia now.
The two countries are also calling on exemptions for single-use formats that can demonstrate the best environmental outcome or in cases where economic operators can show a high separate collection rate of their packaging waste.
The same strategy as the tobacco industry…
Finland produces paper and Italy fears for their tourist industry. It has nothing to do with the environment. Surprise!
Neoliberalism greatly expanded the dominance of market forces through deregulation, privatization, and regressive forms of taxation, while significantly reducing the state’s role in the economy through cuts to labor, welfare, and social protections.
Behind these economic reforms sat a new idea of what constitutes a good and free society—a concept about what direction we should all be striving in to become the best versions of ourselves. In the new neoliberal era, then, success would be reframed as a product of having exceptional individual qualities (rather than exceptional social privileges and advantages), while failure would be rooted in some kind of personal deficit (rather than in lack of opportunity, equality, or social support).
This is a plugin I found recently and really enjoy. It gives you the opportunity to redirect several webpages to alternatives. For example Youtube to FreeTube or Piped. If I search for youtube in Firefox, FreeTube automatically opens and shows me my feed. I like it, I use it, I can recommend it.
I’m a heavy emoji user, texting is such a poor medium for communication, many times people get the wrong message, but with an emoji you’ll get an idea of the face I’m making, so less chance of misunderstanding...
Emojis were a thing when people were chatting on MSN Messenger, ICQ, etc. Then people became older and it was seen as a young thing. This is why people were “against” it on Reddit.
But, we are in 2023 and the emojis took the last couple of years the same trajectory as Facebook. It’s a boomer thing.
You’re both right but not speaking about the same period.

Bern ist on the map. The french part of the Canton of Bern doesn’t use “riclette” either.
“Riclette” is a word coming from the franco-provençale patois Fribourgeois. In fact, the prononciation of “riclette” sounds really different from “raclette” despite having one different letter.
As the scientific evidence grew over time about the health effects from gas stoves, the industry used a playbook echoing the one that tobacco companies employed for decades to fend off regulation.
This is the case in each industry from tabacco to at the other end Autism for example. People should do their research and look for the quality of the papers and the COI (conflict of interest).
You have an entire bad industry around autism. It’s worse than people think with human rights abuses. The industry produces papers with huge methodology and data issues and COI. Autism Speak is the first relay for this missinformation.
For me the deal breaker is to wait for so long before getting it. They have to step up the production. I’m fine with waiting for one month and can understand. But, the actual waiting time is ridiculous.

I have seen many people in this community either talking about switching to Brave, or people who are actively using Brave. I would like to remind people that Brave browser (and by extension their search engine) is not privacy-centric whatsoever....
The issue is wider than Brave. Nowadays, companies build uncritical communities around their products.
If you try to be critical, you loose the community in which you’re involved on one side. And, if you are critical from the outside, “you don’t understand” like in the “you’re not the choose one”.
Statistics Canada confirmed last week that 351,679 babies were born in 2022 — the lowest number of live births since 345,044 births were recorded in 2005....
Financial capitalism is another factor. Investing in the housing to have financial products with high financial return. It’s part of the speculation allowed in our neoliberal economy.
Add that the incomes are the same for decades and you end up with this. Housing or better having a decent place to live has to be a fundamental right.
The development looks nice. But don’t let developers build it. The city has to build them themself. Otherwise, it will be like anywhere else pushing the poorer outside of the town.
Heat wave isn’t +30°C. This is what climate change deniers want people to think.
A heat wave is when the temperature are higher on a certain amount of time. According to the IPCC, it’s “a period of abnormally hot weather, often defined with reference to a relative temperature threshold, lasting from two days to months”, and according to the Heat Wave Duration, and to the World Meteorological Organization, it’s “five or more consecutive days during which the daily maximum temperature surpasses the average maximum temperature by 5 °C (9 °F) or more”.

The problem is the unwalkable suburb that doesn’t make any sense. It never made sense either.
It’s not only bad for commuting. It’s a mess for groundwater, pollution of all type (noise, microplastics, air, etc.) It has an impact on the wildlife including reproduction, on plants, etc.
It’s just a bad use of space? No, it’s bad socially by isolating people. It creates urban traps. I will stop here otherwise I will continue on the fact it’s a myth created by the capital…

I don’t know. There is multiple possibilities here. Maybe Appenzell Innerrhoden where you’re at a low degree cousin of one of the members of the council at the head of the Canton. AI has just 16k inhabitants.
But if you ask a French speaker, it will be Jura. It remember me once I went there. I saw a young woman not older than 25. She was definitely not rich. She already had 3 pregnancies and was outside in a cold foggy morning with the 3 kids walking around the small town. The region has the reputation of alcoholism too.
For most of this century, Germany racked up one economic success after another, dominating global markets for high-end products like luxury cars and industrial machinery, selling so much to the rest of the world that half the economy ran on exports....
The first dominion of the fall of the neoliberalism. Germany has multiple major flaw.
It didn’t invest in infrastructure like railways. Poor workers use public transportation what makes good conditions rare and therefore reduce the consumptions. The incomes are too low in the country. People can’t afford a basic live and can’t consume.
Budgetary rigor. Politics for years, we are looking at you Angela, wanted to spend the less amount of money they could. All of this ended with a lack of money in the system. This also is one factor to the rise of the far-right.
Tax cuts for companies and corporations created wealth for the capital. The capital grew what doesn’t help the economy.
