Well it’s the same for the free market really. On paper it’s a nice idea, but in practice it makes the world miserable because people are, in general, fucking selfish assholes.

@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

It’s not water vapor. It’s mainly propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, plus flavorings and (optionally) nicotine.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Honestly my steam deck sees a lot more playtime than my beefy desktop. I guess it’ll only change when I finally get cyberpunk+DLC on sale.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Nope, his son took over and he was in the loop for quite some time so nothing will change. Sorry.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Just finished the show, what an awesome monologue in an awesome episode.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

I’m very pro-legalization but honestly tobacco is a shit drug. No real high, very addictive and awful health effects. I don’t see many people going through the hassle of maintaining their addiction illegally if it was banned everywhere.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

I know, I am one :( But I also know that if I had to go to a dealer to buy cigarettes, I couldn’t smoke in public and it was as socially frowned upon as hard drugs I’d have a much easier time quitting.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Western and central Europe haven’t been “white” for decades.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah but it’s an USAF system. “Canada remains in DEFCON1” makes no sense.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

That I use Sync for Lemmy of course.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Another country has called Xi a 'dictator' and China is not happy with that description (edition.cnn.com)

China has lashed out at Germany after its foreign minister called Xi Jinping a “dictator” and summoned Berlin’s ambassador for a dressing down, in the latest flaring of tensions with a western democratic power over how the Chinese leader is described overseas.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

The meme was created by Chinese bloggers, who used it to mock Xi despite heavy monitoring and censorship. If anything, perpetuating it is a show of support of Chinese dissenters.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Did you just assume my ethnicity?

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

I’m not sure I qualify as a cracker, what with me not being American and having a Chinese father, but what do I know.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Fair enough

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

From RH, it’s in the (short) article.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Ça existe encore les petites stations essences ?

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Sorry our awesome plan was so clever it got you confused. We’ll try and make it simple for you morons next time.

Ah yes, the Macron Apology.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Really curious how an intern added this at the last minute in a completely unrelated law… Oh well, stuff happens I guess.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

“music” and “the music industry” (aka the majors) are two very different things.

loutr,

Screen sharing works fine under GNOME, haven’t tried with another DE/WM.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

I meant on Wayland. It works on my computer^^TM under Firefox, Chromium and electron apps.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Could also be a false flag: now they don’t have to do the all-hands which would have been disastrous, and they can pin it on their unreasonable critics.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

You can do that if you want to :

Like many of our IDEs, the functionality of RustRover can be installed as a plugin in IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate.

But if you only care about a particular language/stack you can use the dedicated IDE, it’s cheaper and the UX is optimized for your use case.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Because I (and many others) find their products to be far superior to the competition.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Make that a month for him to learn not to waste food so stupidly. Orangutans are dying for this shit.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Isn’t it 1/15 of a horse? This makes my head hurt…

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

A looot of rules only exist because of a couple assholes ruining it for everybody.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah but ME LE is actually 3 huge AAAs.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Not sure whether you’re joking but he’s referring to Michael Scott.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yep, I initially loved the show, but I stopped watching when I realized I didn’t care enough to try and keep up with the new clones they were constantly throwing at us.

What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

The thought came to mind after reading a recent post about Baldurs Gate 3 here but it reminded me of the Japense only PSX game Mizzurna Falls where if you don’t perform a certain action early in the game you are prevented from getting a true ending. While this might not be a traditional soft lock because you can still progress...

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

IIRC failing the speech check is the “normal” outcome. If you convince him he gives you info you would have come across later, allowing you to bypass the next main story quest.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Sure, the technology is available and it works well (mostly). But people are not machines, and in my experience quite a lot of them are not as comfortable communicating through chat and webcams as they are in person. Older people in particular don’t really get that they can be used for quick, informal conversations, and only use them for preplanned meetings.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

So am I :) The “older people” in my comment refer to my former boss and colleagues, and their reluctance to adapt to a remote working environment was a major reason for my departure towards more remote-friendly pastures.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

For sure, there were other issues, which were amplified by the distance and the lack of communication. Point is you can come up with the best technical solution to a problem, but at the end of the day if the people aren’t able or willing to adapt, there’s not much you can do except fire them (which I couldn’t) or move on (which I did).

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Haven’t played the game yet, but I see everywhere that exploration sucks because all the planets are empty and look the same?

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

I really liked Lower Decks, and I had never watched a single Star Trek episode before. It works very well on its own, though there are times where I could tell I was missing the reference obviously.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Just installed Edge on Arch after a disastrous Teams call with Firefox and Chromium, figured it was worth trying MS’ browser next time but I’m not holding my breath.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

The Linux app was discontinued last year, I read that we’re supposed to use the PWA now, has it changed?

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

“oh ben c’est super, on va pouvoir vous faire des solaires en plus ! Et votre femme elle veut pas une paire en plus, il reste un peu !”

Finally boarded the ship! And all it took was swallowing my pride.

Started learning Linux with Manjaro a few years ago, but there were always stability issues pushing me away from daily driving. I found when I did have time to use my PC, it was largely for gaming, and when any issue presented and needed to be fixed it was a bit of a barrier to entry....

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Still better than snaps.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah but I don’t want to buy new headphones when I’ve got good, expensive wired headphones already (which I don’t need to recharge).

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Fair enough, though one could also see it at recognizing the Jewish roots of the christian religion. And I genuinely believe that the holocaust and general hardships endured during WW2 bought the Jewish people a fair amount of goodwill, it’s not all cynical political calculations.

loutr,
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

the French still ban us from wearing religious garments in public

This is completely wrong. You are legally free to wear a kippa or any other religious signs almost everywhere in France. Exceptions are:

  • in public schools
  • at work if:
    • you’re a civil servant
    • there is a legitimate reason for a ban (security, hygiene, …)

That’s literally it. I lived in a Jewish neighborhood in Paris and saw kippas constantly, nobody gave a fuck.

If you “recognize your roots” but changed your name and also have spent your entire lifetime attempting to murder your parents and grandparents, I think it’s fair to say that you don’t respect or care about your roots.

OK?
