I guess if you want to accurately want to do the checks on the server side you’d have to run the complete game on the server. You can cheat just by making a texture transparent so that you can see enemies behind it. To prevent that the server has to render the frames itself and to ensure that really only approved things are seen by the players the easiest would be to just send over the rendered frame instead of letting the players render it themselves. By that point you have basically invented game streaming again.
Still, I wonder what Blizzard games are doing. They work fine on Linux and I haven’t heard much about cheating on there.

You’re in luck, the setting doesn’t actually work. At least the last time I tried it. Also, you can move the cursor like a mouse when you click the left stick or change to turn based mode. And you can search your immediate area by holding down X (A with XBox like controllers).

Thief 3’s Cradle level was formative in the way that I have never ever seen a better horror game. Overall I didn’t like the game as much as the previous two. But the Cradle is unsurpassed.
The demo for Alone in the Dark 1 also lives rent free in my head because it was one of the few games we had back then. Plus the graphics were absolutely astonishing. But I never knew how to finish it. I always died pretty quickly to some dog monster. I never played the full game.
I don’t really see the accessibility angle with this. Just use an email client built with accessibility in mind. It’s not like Gmail is only available via the web. E-Mail clients have been a thing for longer than browsers.
An additional frontend always brings in the question of “will this backend change break the other frontend?” It’s not so much the maintenence itself, but it may be holding back the main web interface.
That depends on how they have set everything up. In an ideal world the HTML page just gets its information more or less directly from the mail protocols you’d use with a separate client as well. But speaking from experience the tech is never set up ideally. Not even at billion dollar companies.
Of course, it’s also very likely that they just want to kill the simple interface because they can track more stuff in the JavaScript one.
Thinking about doing another run with a single class party. My first thought is druid, because between the subclasses you can get a good mix of healing, AoE, and tanking. What other classes might work? Is there enough gear to go around for this to work?
I think the game is forgiving enough that you don’t have to limit yourself in your choice. There are enough healing potions that you don’t necessarily need a dedicated healer.
Feels like a dumb question, but I haven’t ever worn a pair of boots that didn’t hurt in some way. Is this just a feature of boots, or am I doing something wrong?
At least the joysticks, bigger SSD and different color are all attainable with a small bit of tinkering. There’s even an aftermarket screen with a higher resolution available. But I don’t know if that has smaller bezels.
And video out while charging can be handled by whatever dongle you use for video out. But I know what you mean.
I am trying to find out if you can still recruit Minthara if you go through the underdark instead of taking the mountain pass. Everything online says to take the pass but no one mentions the underdark. And if you try to google Minthara recruitment all the results are about destroying the grove....
You recruit her in act 2. The only requirement is to not kill her. So you can either help her destroy the grove or just ignore the grove, then she will destroy it without you.
You can still take the mountain pass after you have done all of the Underdark.
But in the end you just have to find her at Moonrise.
Most of them can be transferred over as is. For games that have a Linux version Steam will download the Linux stuff. But usually all the assets take up most of the space and those are normally shared between all versions of a game.
SteamOS 3.6 is live on the “main” update channel, and it is very buggy. (Note: the most bleeding edge update channel is called main. 3.6 is only live on the “main” channel, not any of the stable or beta channels)....
And I even feel like 3.5 isn’t entirely as stable as it should be. Got some random crashes. Although it’s not nearly as bad as it was a few months ago. So I will stay on beta for now.
Edit: Went back to stable yesterday because of too many crashes. Funnily enough it crashed on my first attempt to downgrade. The second attempt worked, though.
Minsc (Matthew Mercer) streamed playing the game together with Swen Vincke. It’s the one where Matt stacked a thousand crates to teleport into Baldur’s Gate. I’d really like to see the whole thing but nobody seems to have a recording.

Ideas for a single class party?
Thinking about doing another run with a single class party. My first thought is druid, because between the subclasses you can get a good mix of healing, AoE, and tanking. What other classes might work? Is there enough gear to go around for this to work?
