That’s just bad UX.

GlitzyArmrest,

That doesn’t make the UX any better.

Moghbeli didn’t offer details on where the tomato was found, nor what condition it was in. But it’s probably safe to assume it won’t be featured in a gourmet meal anytime soon.

Another article that doesn’t offer any more details about where it was found. I’m starting to really believe someone ate it!

For drives, Shuckstop has a table of current shuckable drive prices. Shucking is usually the cheapest way to get new drives, you just have to get them out of their external case (or in your case, leave them in and plug them into your pi, ideally with some sort of fan). There’s also ServerPartDeals for refurbished enterprise drives.

The reason FOSS will always be better is because claims like that can actually be validated and audited. Any company can claim their stuff is E2E encrypted, but you’ll never know if that’s true for closed source software. Even if they do actually do E2E encryption, you’ll likely not know if they’re doing it properly and with strong encryption algorithms.

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

I wasn’t talking about whether or not to trust FOSS, I was talking about Zello (since it’s closed source, which I originally mentioned). There might not be a FOSS alternative, I don’t know since I have never needed a walkie talkie app. That’s why I didn’t mention one and only answered the first part of your question. You’re right that it probably can’t be fully trusted (because it’s closed source).

How will it last as long as Skyrim when it has relatively little to no content?

LūN (EDM)/Lights (electropop) (same artist, different personas) has some great music if you’ll like that kind of stuff. Probably most recognized in Canada, much less so in the US and rest of the world.

I also enjoy Echo Movement (reggae) but I’m not sure if they’re still making music or not.

All links go to invidious.

Kagi is great but it’s a subscription based platform ($10/month). Well worth it, at least for me.

I’m usually all for setting up things myself, but unRAID is just too good. Not to mention their support forums have saved me more than once.

I’m not sure you can draw that conclusion from a single patch in a single game.

GlitzyArmrest,

Harsh reviews are deserved. CoD is normally a copy paste of a game, and somehow they messed that up.

I’m pretty sure the new deck’s screen is bigger, so I doubt that it’ll fit.

Should I rethink the encryption method of my backup drives?

I’ve been using veracrypt for the past 4 years to create container files in everything from thumb drives to external hard drives. After upgrading one of my backup drives, I decided that I will switch to a different filesystem altogether going on, from ntfs to ext4, since I havent really used windows in those 4 years. With the...

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

LUKS with LVM is probably what you want to encrypt your “hot” drives with. As for the actual backups, Borg and Duplicacy are great. I personally prefer Duplicacy as I find it much more polished, but Borg is great too. Both include encryption options.

If you’re concerned about recovering data, you should try recovering now. Make sure your backups are actually working and you can properly recover. You don’t have backups unless you test them.

Ikea launches its first smart LED strip at the right price (www.theverge.com)

Ikea launched the Ormanäs, its first smart RGB LED light strip, in the Netherlands. The news comes by way of Dutch tech site Tweakers, which notes that the Ormanäs is a four-meter, or roughly 13-foot, dimmable Zigbee affair for €29.99 (about $32) that works with the company’s Dirigera smart hub. The light strip is only...

Always happy to see more Zigbee-controlled fixtures, love my Ikea air purifiers.

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

My solution is a bit DIY’d; I use my Zigbee devices with Home Assistant & a Silicon Labs Zigbee/Z-Wave combo stick.

I have a few of their air quality sensors, too! They seem to work pretty well, it does take them a minute to calibrate once they’re plugged in though. I also don’t really have anything to compare them to (other than the onboard air quality sensors in the air purifiers).

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

Oh sorry! I have three of the STARKVIND model with charcoal filters.

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

I use the VINDSTYRKA from Ikea inside. Notably it doesn’t follow AQI so if you’re looking for that it won’t be able to do it, at least not directly. You’d need to write your own AQI function based loosely on the PM of the sensor.

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

It connects directly to my Silicon Labs Zigbee/Zwave combo stick. That’s the great thing about Zigbee, you aren’t stuck on someone’s hub.

Aren’t all of the listed features already available via Home Assistant?

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

Sorry, I didn’t mean to make it seem irrelevant. I can see how it came across that way though. I was mostly trying to point out that these features aren’t exclusive to Google Home, or even Home Assistant, because they’re Android features when it comes down to it.

According to Telegram and Twitter, the Leer-2 is worth at least a few million USD (I saw ranges between $2-25m). Ouch.

As we’ve seen in the past with their modifications to rockets and artillery, I’m sure they’ll figure out how to launch without Soviet-era munitions.

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

Sorry, did you have a specific munition in mind? I didn’t mention one, so I’m curious where you got the “wrong size” from. Ukrainians have previously adapted missles to fit in certain launch systems and Su-27 fighters, which is why I said what I said. Apparently it can already launch Israeli missles, clearly those are not Soviet and meet the 122mm requirement.

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

Did you miss that Israel has 122mm munitions, mentioned directly in this post? So yes, Turkey and Israel are probably options here.

While not the only reason, my partner and I moved to WA from a red state so that my partner would feel safe. I also know other people that did the same. So your first point is at least slightly incorrect, if not completely. Do you have a uterus that certain state governments want control over? If not, maybe you shouldn’t speak on this.

GlitzyArmrest, (edited )
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

I know literally hundreds of women

Ah, so you don’t have a uterus. Got it!

You cannot claim to know personal opinions of hundreds of women, this is exactly why you shouldn’t speak on this subject. There’s a term for this, called Dunbar’s number. You can only really be friends with a max of around 150 people. So, are you really going to say that of all of your friends, they’re all women (or at least 101 of them, to meet your hundreds mark), and you’ve talked to them (and listened) about their feelings around abortion? You asked each person if they would feel safer in a state with abortion rights and access as opposed to one without?

Right now, it seems that you’re not a woman and you’re putting words into “hundreds” of their mouths. Exactly what right leaning people love to do.

GlitzyArmrest, (edited )
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

That’s a lot of words to say you know nothing about what women actually care about. You seem to have latched onto Dunbar’s number and not the fact that you’re putting words in women’s mouths. Also, I highly doubt you’ve exceeded Dunbar’s number, ever. I’m sure that you speaking for women (when you aren’t one, clearly) really makes them feel safe enough for them to all share their most vulnerable thoughts with you.

Also, you originally claimed that people care about MJ because they use it in their daily lives. Do you really think that access to reproductive healthcare is not a daily thought for many women?

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

I love that you brought up formal education regarding stats; you must be an expert since you kept track of the opinions and personal thoughts of “hundreds of women” you know.

You’ve been told of personal experiences, and you’ve also been given multiple studies above. Are you really so insecure that you cannot be wrong even when presented with clear, cut and dry evidence? Is that insecurity what’s causing you to belittle the pain and turmoil that women in red states experience every day?

I find it very interesting that you had no problem seeing the logic behind MJ legalization, but when women came into the picture you suddenly weren’t so sure.

By the way, your “I know literally hundreds of women” line has still got it. Makes me giggle every time I read it.

Remember, the LDS Church is one of the biggest property owners in the United States. Gotta use all that tax free revenue to keep the AC running in buildings that are empty for most of the week. It’s God’s wish!

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

Spaces like this would never work for me in the first place. Why would I travel to a fake office building that my company has nothing to do with to work? I would rather work from home, a library, or even a fast food/coffee shop than go to a pseudo office.

You’re not stuck. Just leave, and make people talk to you over Signal. If they’re not trying to talk to me on Signal or Matrix, I will never see it. This not only got me off of services like Messenger, but also showed who gave enough of a shit about me to go through Signal’s simple setup.

GlitzyArmrest, (edited )
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

Two way street indeed, I didn’t say all of them followed me or anything like that. I lost contact with many doing this, as expected and intended. But I got much closer to those who did move over. Most of them moved over without me even doing anything because they cared about their own data privacy and realized that it’s easier to setup Signal than it is to setup an entire Facebook account anyway.

GlitzyArmrest,
@GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world avatar

With Kagi, you can kind of do this, either through lenses or by completely blocking website from your search results. Obviously not as good as a block list but still, something.

So, he reinvented wardriving as part of his election conspiracy? $500 is expensive when you can just use WiGLE on your phone and accomplish the same thing. Many people were already doing this for a hobby or to help cybersecurity analysts anyway.
