Local. State. Federal. Like I always have. I also moved out of a “shithole” state in the words of our treasonous former president.
With China having a severe gender imbalance and a massive generation (age) imbalance, it’s going to cause all sorts of problems for them soon. Big, big fucking problems. And Russia just had all their young men flee, die stupidly, or decide Russia might not be the best place after they’ve released shittons of violent offenders, lol. Russia’s future looks dim at best. Iran isn’t looking too healthy either.
So the bottom line is this: no matter where you go, you aren’t outrunning a shift to a multipolar world, especially one where resources like fresh water and food will be getting more scarce as climate change fucks the world and countries get more desperate, particularly authoritarian ones that are losing a tenuous grip on their people. That shit always causes wars, because humans are too fucking stupid to prioritize science in any other context.
Countries with democracy and immigration and the means to defend themselves and their friends are your best bet. Our fate and your own fate are intrinsically linked because of that.
Not just western countries, either. You even see countries like China and Russia devolving too, collecting power, raising to the poverty index to make it look like russians aren’t starving, making term limits virtually indefinite, jailing opponents.
Only thing is that they’ve got a head start on making bad decisions, China since 2012, Russia since the 00s.
This always puzzled me. Why don’t humans act much more aggressive or crazed like its often depicted with animals. Afaik there’s 2 types of rabies, “dumb” and “furious” so my question is more towards the 2nd type. For example, we never hear of rabies causing a human to accidentally bite another human so why is that?
From what I’ve heard, humans just aren’t terribly bitey. Seeing videos of kids with rabies is terribly sad, but does give some insight into it. More fear than anything else.
It’s a terrible disease and a terrible way to die. If you get bitten or scratched by an animal, or even if you wake up to a bat in your house, you should immediately get the rabies vaccine, as even a microscratch from a bat can give you rabies. As far as diseases go, I’d say it’s probably up there with ebola in terms of suffering. At least ebola kills you quickly even as your insides melt.
Their bodies and immune systems are really strange. They can get loaded up with tons of diseases but can still manage to outstrip the disease due to their metabolism and immune system. They act as pools of disease. But also are excellent pollinators and eat mosquitoes and other bugs that must be kept in check.
The worst things we can do are build new housing developments in freshly clear cut forests. Diseases that have always been in the bat population suddenly go from 50 miles in the remote woods to someone’s backyard table. A bat has taken a fruit-laced dump on it. Your big dog eats it, and then licks your SO’s hands 20 minutes later. She rubs her eye with the feces-laden saliva, and suddenly, a novel pathogen erupts.
I remember being in college (pre-covid) a biotechnology professor telling us about how zoonotic spillover events happen. He was studying ebola and how it would occasionally kill everyone (or many) in a remote village who came into contact with bats or other creatures often. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, as he basically said it was a matter of time till something like it happened again, but way, way worse. Fast forward a number of years and 1,000,000+ dead Americans later, and we now know that we got off extremely easy.
I want to get a saltwater tanks someday. It looks a bit intimidating to see people putting in chemicals every 6 hours on YT channels, but I want to try it. Already have a small freshwater tank here!
I can wait. I got plenty to play. Even Xbox and Playstation are publishing their exclusives on good platforms now. Origin caved. I can wait a decade+ for Todd or Tim or whatever his name is to run out of fortnite money, lol.
The only game that was kinda a bummer was Tears of the kingdom. The sky world was just copy/pastes with nothing but some robots. I wanted the hot bird people up there or something.
The underground was dead and had a few POIs but was basically just those same annoying ninjas from the first game who disguise themselves as civilians. I liked the story and characters in botw2 better. The map was largely unchanged from the first game. Some of the missions were better. Gannon actually getting a plot was cool. The enemies were better this go around. The gmod bits were cool, but caused the game to run like shit. The game also ran at like, 22 fps the entire time anyways. The shrines were as meh as the first game, which were already so dull I’d look up guides just to get more hearts/stamina.
…it should have been a $25 DLC instead of a $70 game.
It was a solid 4.5/10 for me, mostly just on the amount of rehashed stuff for a $70 game, which should have blown my balls off for waiting six years and $70 later. I hope the next Zelda game is more like Twilight Princess.
I think had they released it on PC, it would have been a bit better, since the vehicles could be built larger and have a further despawn distance without big frame drop penalties. (And frame drops in certain environments). I’m glad for the enemy variation and liked the bosses better in totk. But next game, I hope the gameplay is wildly different and they take some risks with the story. I’d love to see parts where you play as Zelda or something.
All of these award ceremonies and cons are just advertising for the latest games or games that are releasing soon. Companies aren’t building games out of charity, but because they make money for their shareholders and occasionally, a private company.
I think clear communication is probably best tbh. Especially if you are also willing to shave too. I’m a guy and I also shave, found it extremely helpful for sports, sex, and hygiene. Lots more airflow too.
Food, live plants /fish (aquariums), watercooling stuff, teas, NSFW stuff (no returns), used stuff (missing parts, or on amazon, its always defective.
I’m also souring on online deliveries. It was great in the early 10s, but now it’s all low quality garbage, defective stuff that has been “returned”, no name brand stuff, etc.
I thought the same until I went to the crunchy little indie stores. I’ve gone to two different ones, and both were great! One was high end boutique, the other a crunchy 70s place where everyone seemed super knowledgeable and appeared to do it for a hobby, with the store simply funding their addiction hobby. :)
I still skip petco, though, that place bums me out.
There’s a third indie place about an hour away that looks really cool too! They have a 1,500 gallon tank that I wanna see.
For me, it was because my mountain bike gear was being washed on cold as heat screwed up the Eva foam in the knee pads and body armor. The jersey also got washed cold, so bacteria never got killed off. When it got hot, the heat would activate the smell, but it’s hard to tell when you are going fast down a trail.
Once I started washing everything possible on hot, it stopped a lot of the smell.
I assume people are doing that with non-mtb clothing and getting similar BO results. So it’s quite possible it’s also not necessarily them, but their clothes.
This. It’s great for steaks or cuts of chicken, even sandwich melts, but it uses less power and is faster than the oven. I tend to use my air fryer for a lot of dinners instead of opting for a much larger oven. The cooking tends to be much more even too, I don’t have to worry about raw spots as much as I did with my oven.
The Owl House and Bluey kicked the shit out of children’s cartoons I had when I was a kid. Bluey makes me want to be a better parent, and I’ll be damned if I don’t think about The Owl House at least once a week.
This was especially evident after the re-release of sunshine and Galaxy. Sunshine had smaller, tighter levels. Galaxy had more ambitious levels that put fun over eye candy. I replayed them both after beating odyssey just to make sure it wasn’t rose tinted glasses.
This works on the east coast, but massive states like Montana and Texas have 80 mph highways for a reason. Low population density + no trains. You can drive for 3-4 hours at 80 mph between major cities. Many do well north of 80 though.
A mix of a generational gap and me coming out. I still like the parts about treating people and animals with respect, but the whole “restoring mana through a church building” parts and going to hell for loving someone just seems strange.
Apartment complexes, package deliveries, medical shit, people locked out of your house who need to get in to feed pets, your neighbors to shut off the water when your pipes burst when you are on vacation, etc.
Not trans, but it was a week of intense pain as I ripped the bandaid off to myself mentally, and then to my friends, family, and everyone else. I did two things right though: I reached out to other friends, one of whom was in the exact same spot I was in and still closeted, and two, I immediately went and saw a counselor. The friend and I talked about coming out at length, and the counselor also helped turn something painful into something better. It’s been about two years now, and I feel happy and have a massive weight lifted off my chest. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.
That other guy is my bi (coming out) brother, and my SO and I are getting engaged soon. Things are getting much better than they have in years :)
This doesn’t really feel like news. 100k not showing up to a concert? That’s news. But these could be bots or Facebook just adjusting stuff behind the scenes.

The political spectrum a circle. Go far enough around, and it loops back to itself right around fascism and communism. Plus, all the crazy shit like anti-vaxxers and all that bullshit. Killing minorities is a favorite pasttime of both groups, throughout WW2 and the postwar, red/lavender scare era. And it’s starting back up again.
However much for a house, so at least 750k, but probably more like 1.2 million if you want to home that is near a rail station. I’m not moving back to a rural state that hates me and people like me.
The media won’t give me great answers to this question and I think this I trust this community more, thus I want to know from you. Someone baked durian on a ski trip, and people thought there was a gas leak in the house. Their house smelled terrible for days, lmao. Thank god I wasn’t in that unit.
Personally- great, a lot of good stuff happened. And ai have even more to look forward to in the coming year, as we prepare to take our relationship to the next level :)
But more broadly, I’m very concerned about another Jan 6th/2016 approaching next year. What it means for us, our friends and neighbors, and Ukraine. So that is kind of floating over me. I can’t rest easy until the orange menace steps down, dies, or is permanently disfigured with some sort of shitting disease or something. And their team keeps losing political will the longer democrats keep the country going. Please, let’s all vote next year.
Americans, what are your plans if Trump wins in 2024?
