They already give you the option of choosing between stereo or 5.1, I don’t see why a low dynamic audio mix would be any different on the technical side.
Then again, a new mix would cost more money.
Older TV shows generally have a more even audio mix, because they were mixed for clear dialogue on TV speakers. Nowadays even TV shows have movie theater mixes, despite the fact that no one will ever see these shows in the cinema. I think TV execs just assume way more people have a Dolby Atmos system in their living room than they do in reality. It’s pretty stupid.
I dump them into a sieve and rinse them off before transferring to another bowl. I also remove the squishy ones.
It should keep the mold spores away for a little longer.
Yeah most non-native speakers never get this wrong. I wonder if it’s because non-natives learn the language in a structured environment like school, whereas native speakers learn it by absorption, and everyone speaks english long before starting school?
Or maybe it’s just because the American education system is absolutely fucked
When I lived in Stockholm my roommate was from Florida. He never left the house with anything but shorts on, even in -20°C, when I (Icelander) was bundled up in three layers, a beanie and mittens.
I don’t know how he could withstand it.
I agree that snowy weather isn’t that cold. But shovelling snow in crocs?? There is no worse feeling than that particular cold wetness of snow getting in your shoes. I wear a big snowsuit to prevent any snow from getting on me.
Intermissions are standard in Icelandic cinemas, no matter the length of the movie. Since moving to Norway I always forget and my bladder is about to explode at the end of the movie. I don’t think an intermission is necessary for a 90 minute movie, but I think if it’s 2 hours or longer then an intermission should be required.
I am in an intense love-hate relationship with Spotify. It makes good mixes for me, I have found a lot of great bands that way. BUT IT KEEPS REGURGITATING THE SAME SONGS IN THERE. I know about Song Radios and Artist Radios, so please don’t recommend those. Smart Shuttle doesn’t cut it, either....
Spotify has that bug too, and it’s infuriating. Whenever I’m on a plane or something I have to put Spotify in “offline mode”, otherwise it just refuses to play all the music I’ve downloaded.
Recently I’ve been catching up on tv and some of the more mature/adult shows, which I’ve been…Enjoying? Seems like the wrong word, but they’ve all generally been cynical or dark....
Farming peasants worked pretty much from sunrise to sunset, sometimes even longer. If you count the number of hours the average medieval peasant worked in a year, it was probably a lot more than we do now.
I have a smart TV where you can just plug in a NTFS formatted USB drive and it plays perfectly. Never had to rename or transcode anything. It plays 4K files more smoothly than most computers I’ve had.
The only problem I’ve had is when I’m watching a foreign film and the subtitle file is in the wrong file format.
Donald was always a more appealing character to me than Mickey Mouse because he’s so relateable. He has trouble with love and with money and he’s impulsive and impatient.
Mickey, on the other hand, is such a nothing-character. He’s basically just a brand mascot at this point, with no recognizeable character traits.
And while there are iterations of Mickey that actually give him a personality, it’s much less consistent than Donald.
Funny thing is, I feel like the new Ducktales series is the closest TV representation of the comics-versions of the characters. They change some things (most crucially they give Huey, Dewey and Louie individual personality traits), but overall it really feels like watching the European comic books come to life. Scrooge is still too much of a good guy, where in the comics he’s often a kind of villain.
The comics were only available in Danish for a while so we mostly took the Danish names, so in Icelandic Donald is Andrés Önd (similar to Anders And).
The nephews are Ripp, Rapp and Rupp (Rip, Rap and Rup in Danish).
Funnily enough there’s a generational gap between people who call Goofy Fedtmule (the Danish name) or Guffi (the Icelandic translation name)!
Lol I live in an old house where the electrics are messed up like that. We got a new water heater last year that uses significantly more power than our old one. So if we used the coffee machine (on the opposite side of that floor of the house), we had to unplug the panel heater in the hallway!
We had an electrician install a new breaker for the water heater and that fixed the problem lol
I honestly didn’t think this would ever happen! I thought all those MP fans that kept complaining about Portnoy’s absence were just being ridiculous, of course he was never gonna rejoin the band.
Well, I guess hell has frozen over.
Mangini is a beast of a drummer but there was a magic with Portnoy that I felt has been missing on the last few albums, so I’m stoked that he’s back!
I live in Norway and like every second person is named Chris. There’s Kristoffer, Kristina, Kristine, Kristian etc. and I know at least two people with each of those names.
Whenever my girlfriend refers to any one of them I have to flip through a mental rolodex to figure out who the hell she’s talking about.
I really should start giving them nicknames.
